The people who actually play era have been waiting for a fresh 2019 restart for five years now. How about, in addition to these anniversary realms, you also open a fresh Era realm for those who want a more vanilla-esque experience? I’d love that!

It is a fresh era server and maybe it will remain as an era server just because Blizzard don’t want Hardcore players transfer to TBC. Just speculation and spark of hope.
It’s not a fresh era server with all those changes they’ve brought in. I do understand that some would like more QoL and a different gameplay experience, but to lots of us era oldboys that’s making us rethink whether to play on the anniversary servers or just staying on the realms we have.
I can’t believe people make such a big deal out of instant mail, buff limit changes and dual spec.
It feels very wrong, vanilla to me is about those quirks, and the quality-less life that we live in it. And now also the layering stuff? It takes the social aspect out of the game for me. But alas I have been convinced; those of you who called “why don’t you just go play era” have taken this round. I’ll stick to era for now 
So you prefer layer hopping to exploit PvP instead?

That is true, but to be fair I think a lot of us era-ers are going to stay on era now these changes have been announced. If so it might not make that big of a difference anyway.
Regarding layering, and in response to Pacalis: drop layering all together. Make multiple realms if needed instead.
