How about some non-combat classes?

I was thinking, adding a kind of RP profession-focused class would be nice. It would be a dream for RP players, and regular players may use it for some profession farming as well, like fishing or mining. There can be limits to avoid botting or abusing this. The class can have some simple damaging abilities, so it can farm resources, but it will still have very little amount of skills to be useful in PVP or PVE content. The class can learn how to play music, can have cooking buffs, fishing buffs, mining, logging, etc.
After all, it’s a WORLD of Warcraft, and the thing that all characters are fighters, kinda makes no logical sense.
This class could also behave like an NPC. You can give other players a quest for farming some resources (limited amounts, of course). When the players finish farming it, they can mail it to you and claim good cosmetic rewards.
I know what I am saying is going to change the economy, but changing economy is not a bad thing. I mean, good economy needs to be elastic and progressive, but the current economy is outdated very badly.
So, I think this type of class will mostly have positive effect on the game.
Share your thoughts, let’s discuss

P.S I see some comments of people NOT WANTING to do these, which is pretty self-explaining. You can just not do it. There are many things that exist in the game, and I don’t engage in them, but I like that they exist. For example, RP, I don’t care about it. But when in my RP server I see people marching, chatting, having a drink together, it feels very nice. I like the Darkmoon events, but I have never participated. I like that there are big raid bosses and people gather and kill that big bad guys, but I never participate there either.
So, what I am trying to say is that such addons to the game will improve the World aspect of the game more, rather than the WARcraft aspect of it.
So, I want to ask you, would you play this game without any fantasy in it? Let’s say you log in, there’s only human character race, you get H&M clothes as a gear, no magic, no curse, no fantasy at all, and go hit a dummy with big numbers and see big numbers on Details addon? I bet you won’t.
So, my point is, you don’t have to be engaged in fantasy-related things by yourself, but these things make the game better, and if you disagree with that, then I don’t even understand why you play fantasy rpg game at all.

a Civilian Class , would be dope

like they would focus on professions and have access to all of them

id imagine though people would only play them as bank alts

would be good if the ā€œcivilianā€ class could set up a shop in capitol city , and provide like a Bounty for rewards like you mentioned above

I actually love that idea. That sounds like a lot of fun. I use to play a very old mmorpg based on neocron that had civilian ā€˜classes’ that would have perks when it came to professions and trading, which made them pretty interesting.

I’d also love a bard-type class focused on buffs and non directly combat oriented abilities

Wow this is the worst suggestion evar.
I mean you want a irl job inside the game?
Go out. Get a job. Tell ppl to bring ya thingies.
K. done.

I have no interest in such a thing honestly.
And I’d rather see Blizzard put their resources into something better.
WoW is about combat; that’s a fact.

I was thinking about the same name.

yeah, or sell the resources cheaper than the auction. would be a crazy experiment, but I am sure it has potential.

Yeah, sometimes we want to log in and relax, chill, get some other stuff.

  1. It’s not even comparable.
  2. You can simply not do it. I am sure there are classes that you don’t like in the game, but you don’t want them deleted, right? They can still exist even though you don’t like them, right?
  3. This is not even an original idea. Detroit Become Human had washing dishes, Red Dead Redemption 2 had shaving and bathing, no one ever complained because if you don’t want it, just don’t do it.

I am not sure what are you saying here, but you are you with your opinions, and you have rights to have such opinions, even though I completely disagree.

I think Blizzard was working on that for their cancelled game Titan. You could be either shopkeeper or a soldier. When you are called for battle you could go for fighting or stay and manage your shop. As a shopkeeper you could also befriend with some npc characters and they would apply a discount for you depending with your friendship level with said npc. I believe they hired some people from Maxis (makers of sims) to develop the artificial intelligence. Then they thought that game is not a good idea but they had some progress developing it and eventually it released as Overwatch.

For a shooting game, I can’t imagine how would that work. But for open-word fantasy RPG, I don’t see any obstacles.

I really want to be the quest hub vendor class. Every day you log in and wait at your stand for other players to come and buy your stuff. Isn’t that exciting?

For some, yes. The most important thing is to not make it mandatory for PVE or PVE progression, so it stays something cosmetic-focused.

I am not sure if that would really contribute to the game.

It will contribute to the fantasy of the game which is a core aspect of it.

First thought: are you nuts?
Second and third thought: wait, this is actually a pretty cool idea.

Might not be too bad, everyone needs a bank/ craft alt.
Maybe make all crafting items bind on account instead of instant soulbound etc.

No, that’s your focus in WoW.

WoW is an MMO about whatever the players wants it to be, and I welcome non-combat options.

imagine recruiting a civilian to go farm herbs for you

" brb guys my Civilian farmer is jsut coming in with 200 herbs "

bro if it saves me time… im all for it

Yeah, like generally make the game more enjoyable and easier.

I agree with that. Besides, such things will exist parallelly and will never have any effect on the combat.

thats called a word ill be banned for but was popular till the 1600s

Not going to work in any form.
You can’t have a non combat class, it wouldn’t be able to do anyting solo or even farm and having a simple pg vendor will only kill the economy.

Neither the famous ā€œbardā€ support class many talks about can really work. It must have combat capabilities on it’s own to do the solo bits of the content, and as a support class, it would either be useless, or mandatory, creating even more problems to raid and group comps.
