How come Mythic setting doesn't set ICC to Heroic 25 man

Im so confused… I just set raid to mythic then killed the first boss in ICC… realised the top said 10 and mount only has a chance in 25 man heroic… i leave, reset and try to change it but it wont let me…

Im kinda new and im not sure why these things are made easier to understand for new players, why wouldn’t a Mythic setting automatically take you back down to the highest possible setting… Now im locked out and cant do the run until the weekly reset… Why dont all raids just become like Ulduar where everything is in on setting… This is a horrible game design

Because raid difficulties work like this:

Classic raids are set to 20 or 40 player and have no difficulties.
TBC raids are 10 or 25 players and have no difficulties.

Everything UP TO Siege of Orgrimmar:
10 man normal
25 man normal
10 man heroic
25 man heroic

Some outliers to the above, since timewalking raids made some changes to for example Ulduar, merging 10 and 25 man into “1 difficulty”. (Always being “10 man”)

Siege of Orgrimmar and beyond:
10-30 player normal
10-30 player heroic
20 man Mythic.

So you have to set raid difficulty for ICC to 25 man heroic.

Please don’t give them ideas.

Thats fair, but i really dont understand why the mythic setting wouldn’t set old raids to heroic 25 man

Thats because heroic isnt mythic and mythic isnt heroic.

The options are clearly listed in raid difficulties.
So just make sure you select 25 man heroic for ICC or any of the other possible options you want to use for raids.

And mythic raids are only applicable for Siege of Orgrimmar and every raid introduced since.

No but if every raid before SoO doesn’t use Mythic why would it not just set you to the next highest ranking difficulty which would be HC 25 man…

Because all the different forms of difficulties have different achievements / mounts / transmog options.

So its just simply how it works and you cant just ask for: let us put it on mythic and we always end up in HC 25 man.

I am completely lost why it even matters if you can easily select said difficulty anyway, its not exactly rocket science.

Well Mythic sets it to 10 man normal so why cant it set it to 25 man HC? The diffierent achievements/mounts/transmog thing makes no sense when selecting mythic already sets you to something else. Why wouldn’t they make it so it prevented you going in and says Mythic not available…

It does not.

Setting raid difficulty to mythic doesnt automatically change other raid difficulties.

Doesn’t have to be rocket science… Its already changing the setting from Mythic to something else, so it would make sense to set it to HC 25 man where Raids tend to drop mounts and where most players would likely be going there for.

Its already in the list of: it isnt rocket science. We dont need a change. You just need to make sure to select the right difficulty.

And it rules out all options for 10 man glory mounts, and other transmog options or rewards if we cant change it ourselves.

Introducing the same system again we already have.
Manual control on all raid difficulties ourselves.

You made a mistake, and now want a completely new system that would be worse overall just because of said mistake.

Try to be reasonable and just check your raid settings before entering a raid.

No i just think if its gonna default to 10 man normal it should simply default to 25 HC? or atleast allow you to change the difficulty after killing a boss? I killed one boss on the wrong difficulty now i have to wait a week to be able to run it?

You want a full revamp of a perfectly fine working system because you didnt bother to check the difficulty.

You missed out this week, try again next week.

Good luck

I guess people were farming old content a bit too easy. So blizzard decided to throw a pebble into the mix. We can’t allow too much fun now can we?

Since the latest patch update, you can no longer change the difficulty of the encounter.

Even if you go out, change it and go in, it won’t change.

I even formed a group for a friend of mine so he could join my instance, after doing 10 man by mistake himself. He couldn’t enter my instance.

Didn’t it simply allow this before pre-patch? Its hardly a revamp if its how it worked prior

Once you were saved, you could never change from normal to hc.

Only change a 10 man raid to a 25 man raid within the same difficulty / save.

Yeah they did it because people were locking one toon at 11/12 and it allowed all other toons to skip straight to the end boss… which im glad they removed but its abit sad no can change difficulties anymore and a mistake like this means being locked out of a 1% chance of a mount once a week for a whole week… doesn’t seem logical

Doesnt seem logical to make such a mistake if you are so busy getting that 1% mount.

And even take chances with your raid difficulty :stuck_out_tongue:

Doesn’t seem logical to throw your input to a reply simply not aimed towards you… Anyway the logic of the old Raids and its setting is flawed.

I explained the settings and how they work in my first reply to your question.

You then come with an idea of changing a very basic system to something else because of a personal mistake.

It works fine as is, and there really isnt any need to change it just because you made this mistake.
