How do "skill" work?

How does “skill” work, how does blizzard calculate it?

My lvl 62mage has 95 + 16 and it says skill 166
My 70 DK with the same spec has 90+16 and it says 176 skills.

Why does my DK have 10 points more in skill, but spec is 5 points lower :S ?

You probably spent your knowledge differently? Since specialisations will also give you skill for specific types of crafts, that’s probably what the difference is.

nope they are the same, only thing other is Faster speed talent.
