you should be able to sell things on the AH for more? why you gotta exclusively sell things to vendors? again “gold inflation” is pretty natural on a server that has been out for 4 years…
again the problem isn’t inflation but RMT and the bots who will sell things for garbage prices people actually playing won’t and this is even worse on SoD than Era.
I play on the PvE servers, prices are much friendlier there, and it is easier to farm whatever you need (beside the obviously: it is PvE and not PvP) but also zones are not full of 10 farmers + 30 bots.
The problem with the inflation is because of the bots and gold buyers. Without them the economy would probably have been just fine (It was before they came).
The best thing to do is to farm your own mats for the raids or farm something that someone else need for raids.
The game has always been about farming your own consumes and the prices might be higher now than it was before, but you also get more for the stuff you sell. So just farm something that people want, sell it and buy what you want.
(People want whats needed for consumes, end game gear and enchants)
I’m a tank, people pay me thousands of gold just to show up.
I don’t even have to sell myself or anything, they approach me with the wildest offers.
Sometimes I feel like I am ripping them off, but then I remember it was their idea to begin with.
Since these consumes are things you can easily get yourself the price of them being low would actually be what screwed things up for you if you were to farm at fresh server levels to come up with hundreds of thousands of gold for GDKPs, that’s probably not even gonna be possible without RMT
SoD is likely worse though the numbers might be lower, the problem is selling, trying to undercut vs people using bots and then trying to buy vs the people who buy the gold the bots farm.
All “gold inflation” means is using the vendor, generating raw gold becomes significantly worse(while buying from it becomes a lot easier).
You know who’d love selling things to vendor? Botters, and combine that with the insane ease of setting up a bot on sod at low levels vs era 60 and it’s a disaster from this perspective.
There are some ways to farm gold in efficient way:
Passive income: you need several character at 35 level. You can craft mooncloth / cured rugged hide / transmute with them. You basically login every X days and craft that stuff.
Active income: farm with herbalism / mining. It is a good source of money if you do that early morning (e.g. 5-7 a.m.).
GDKP you can join GDKP and use a part of gold you farm there to afford consumes and similar.
4 . Flip goods in the AH. You can buy and resell certain goods. If you are good at it, it is an efficient method. You need some knowledge to do this.
E.fg. Major mana potions were 4g a stack a few montsh ago, I bought many of them (2k+ total), then they banned the bots in STRAT UD and many bots move from Era to other version of WoW (SoD etc.). So no one was farming STRAT UD (they were basically raw gold, major mana potions etc there). The major mana potions skyrocketed.
Was that predictable? yes, with the release of SoD we had a huge decrease in bots (in Era). So whatever they were farming (major mana potions etc.) skyrocketed.
So if you are good at it, you can make a lot of gold with it.
You have another option: join crap SR raids where no one really check too much if you repop stuff and similar so you can leech loot. It has been a common method since the realese of this game. If you are the GM lover/friend and similar, the situation will get even better in term of loot.
