How do you feel wow compares to other mmo's on the market currently?

I should do that, as guardian and rev are my favs, planning to make a war as well

Blizz keeps cramming short term events and features into the game leaving little room to take a break unless you don’t mind missing out on stuff.

The idea of a burn out isn’t in their heads at all, they just want people to log in everyday to push their activity metrics for shareholders.

Meanwhile here’s me thinking why should it matter if someone logs in for 1 hour a month or 24/7, they’re both paying the same subscription.

Heavy has some amazing looking armour, im currently playing condi zerker in OW but using a varient that just uses 2x swords just because i love the astetic with primordus fangs.

Its really quite obvious what they’re doing and a lot of people are waking up to this and quitting, once the hardcore fans miss an event or 2 and the rewards that come with them they start to care less about their perfect track record and don’t come back.

Instead of creating interesting content or game mechanics to keep us subscribed, they just increase the item level mid-season for no reason. It feels very disrespectful, I’m not sure who sees such events as fun. Blizzard is putting in the bare minimum effort, and people are just fine with it. Not sure who would pay for that real money, as for me, I don’t even want to pay my in-game gold, and use my precious time, I rather play games where the time is valued… and if I have time left, I just rather read a book. The amount of content you get for the expansion value is extremely poor, it is not high quality game at all. How much do you pay per expansion? 300USD? for what?

With lazy as sin events like Dastardly Duos, and recycled junk like Visions… it’s insulting.

I’d rather have nothing over turd served to me, thanks.

I recommend everyone an eight year break like I did. I just recently discovered the original Horrific Visions.

Having since may and not planning on coming back. With expansion announcement will see if I gonna give away my left over gold and never touch this game again

I tried gw2, eso, throne and liberty,ff14
I find them all just not good enough compared to wow and lost interest very quickly.

There’s something about wow’s art style, world design, original story, class design, character movement, models and animations just not any other mmo could replicate.

However i started burning out from wow quite quick
Since shadowlands i just sub for a month or 2 and then i’m off for like 6-7 months and then i’m back to farm whatever achievements and mounts i missed and the cycle repeats itself.

During the time when i’m unsubbed i don’t play any other mmo
If anything i go play some arcade shooter like CoD just to kill time and escape from tarkov on occasion.

I played mainly wow, I did play ESO (Its very sleeper and it feels very unresponsive cause of how the game play is, as pretty as the game can be at times. the open world was nice but to me thats about it, i hit about 50 so technically i didnt see raids etc but i feel like alot of the combat i tried i didntenjoy and i dont see that really changing.

Gw2 was great, I loved it for a while. graphically it feels a bit out-dated now or atleast last i played which was path of fire. Alot of the content feels good to play pvp included but alot of the people i play wow with couldnt grip or grasp gw2 enough to stay so i stayed on wow, mostly but i do have a warrior there in full power ascended gear atleast so if i do go badck ill have something to go back to ready to dive into content with.

ffxiv i cant really comment, i know people enjoy it but i got bored during the free trial, quit and never went back it was far too slow paced for me to willingly try and get into it.

outside of that i havent really touched any other mmorpgs i recall enjoying.

wow just feels as a whole more complete (in some shape or another atleast to a point where clearly its a good mmo as im still here) and graphically despite the age it sits relativley pretty regardless of what zone, mostly bar maybe 1-2 stretch and most I do play wow with, enjoy wow. So that factor alone sells itself more so than most critique

Dunno bout mmo’s but, games in general? behind on all areas… ALL

Current mmorpg landscape only two mmorpg matter .wow and ffxiv.based on your own subjective likings you will switch between these two based on their performance in current expansion .

FFXIV feels much too slow, and I don’t mean leveling, I mean the actual gameplay. Most of the time you just wait for gcd to end. Also there is exactly one right way to push the buttons, everything else is completely useless. I felt like an automate. Graphs are awesome though, especially those pretty hyur girls…

GW2 is kinda nice, I love the raptor mount’s animations, armor sets look really cool but it soon starts to ask for money. Real life money. Lots of it. “Quest” rewards (if you can call them quests) are so minimal you simply have to buy more gold from cash shop. Also the story… well, there really isn’t one. Not by WoW standards anyway.

Lotro… yeah, I tried that too but within first 15 minutes I was asked to hand over my cash, repeatedly, so I left. That game is not a subtle one.

While WoW is far from perfect it’s still the best option for me. Stories are mostly good (except BfA & Shadowlands which were dumpster fire), there is a massive amount of things to do, multiple ways to enjoy the game. There is of course the cash shop like every game nowadays but it’s not actually required, you get quite enough imaginary currency just by playing the game.

Retail wow is just a fomo addiction and you’re just sick addicts. And you killed entire mmo industry so not a single company gonna develop any new games in this genre anymore. Mmos are dead and you stuck in this game till you die.

I rotate through (in this order)

  • WoW
  • FF14
  • ESO
  • GW2

Then some single player games if I’m tired of mmos.

Helps me to avoid getting bored.

Do you mean heart rewards? At max level you get good amount of gold from anything you do. Meta events, pvp, fractals, etc. of course you might not get enough of gold when you only level but even then, if you farm few nodes as you level, you will get some gold.
And in general, you don’t need qol items and can live without them very easily. I did get teleport to friend and disenchanter with my own gold but you really don’t need them. My husband play more than me, so he has more gold, as I told you, the more you play, the more gold you have (no farming), and he already got two legendaries for himself, one is the spear that you can sell for 3k gold and it was pricey to craft. Other was great sword. And he bought disenchanter with his own gold too.
In wow I only realised how to make gold with professions way later on, but most people can’t make any okay amount of gold themselves. 99% had to use tokens to buy legendary, in sub based game

And I guess people don’t understand that the game is literally free, unless you get expansions that is one time pay. If you really need something, sure you can buy it. If you play wow somewhat seriously, most people get tokens in order to play m+ or whatever, in gw2 you get gold from m+ (fractals).

Sure buddy

Are you referring to last years attempt to streamline and roll out “legendaries”? because they have
A) NEVER been cheap, B) ALWAYS been a time sink and C) STILL are both.

Gen 2 legendaries alone deforested maguuma jungle 500 times over, smh.

Also no; gold doesn’t come easy, or for “free” in GW2 unless you count 2-10g from the pathetic story as “rich”. GW2 is a grind, with everything, and you can’t possibly deny that. It is built on that foundation alone because there is nothing else to the game: raid + strikes are laughable with current insane powercreep and PvP requires nothing since you build your character from a template, with the same stats and gear levels.

WvW is a joke and devs likes to pretend it doesn’t exist.

Stop lying or Jokko himself with smite you, damn.

Can you be more specific, because I am thoroughly enjoying FF14, and trying to understand where it is the devs failed.

This is the core of any MMO really, you’re not going to escape that.
WoW isn’t much better at this than others.

I feel the same, I’ve done all that, and don’t fancy repeating it.
Retail would be your only solution, or perhaps SoD.

There’s nothing wrong with taking a break and just jumping in again next season.
That’s the only saving feature seasons have for me.
