I dont play other mmos but visually non appeal to me at all.
Since the first time i played wow i just knew this game is for me. Combat fit my preferences i like min maxing in wow etc.
I like how abilities look how world feel how dmg Numbers pop up all those little things coming together makin my experience
No other mmo looks like can emulate m+ feel for me .
First impression matters and non of them did good job with persuading me to play them
Gw2 is a confused mess. It’s not unenjoyable but it’s hardly new player friendly and to get to anything decent is a slog and a half.
Lotro is a fantastic world let down by a terrible engine, it’s brutally dated. Not unenjoyable, I play it often, but often you play against it not with it.
ESO is ok. It’s combat is superior to wows and its ambitions are higher, though the unacheviable. ,
Swtor is a single layer game forced to be an mmo by marketing. And it shows.
So to me WoW is still the best out there of the big ones. Wheather thats damning with faint praise or not is open to debate.
I meant that legendaries are expensive and he still managed to get it after 600 hours of playing. Some meta events give you 9 g etc. pvp give boxes even with 20 gold. You should compare it to wow and use real comparison as WoW token is 350k gold to one and most people buying that. There are no means making gold in wow from game. Does m+ give u gold or you end up spending tons on consumables and repairs?
Wizard vault gives pretty good gold as well with reset every three months or so
Pvp is very easy to get to as new player and it’s not even toxic as it doesn’t even show how much damage someone did in the match
Funny… I have quite enough gold without buying any tokens at all.
GW2 is my to go to when I get bored of WoW, been playing that game on and off for over 10 yrs now as well I think.
For players who have never been there, GW2 is a nice game to look at, better bank/currency/ah system ( all is shared) then WoW for sure and pvp game play there is very nice ( I been a WVW addict for yrs there :)) And the housing there is very nice, the map your house is on is HUGE!
Some of my friends moved away from WoW onto GW2 yrs ago and none of them came back, only me…
Final Fantasy is imo the best game ever, but NOT the online version and Wildstar was also amazing but sadly died out…
I been in WoW so long and I always get curious so always return… but f.e. the last mess up with the gbanks was a huge miss for me, not even missing all my items/gold, but how they treated us… ( unless you were a streamer or so called WoW elite…)
Sure woman
This is something that I have used in the past as an argument why Blizzard would want players to NOT log in every day. Someone who connects once per month and someone who connects every day bring the same income, in terms of subscription. But the player who connects every day is more “expensive” because they cost bandwidth, storage and cpu.
In essence, the ideal customer for these companies are those who pay but do not consume. So I am quite surprised that they have switched to a model where they actually want us to log in every day. Quite possibly, their analytics team has shown that players who log in continuously bring more income from other sources, like the shop and token, and the income from those sources tramples the expenses of logging every day?
There has been several news from reputable sources that Blizzard makes a lot more money from "micro"transactions than selling expansions or game time.
Which is almost frightening. A player that buys box price and has their sub running all year round gives Blizzard around 170€ per year. So there are people who give more than 200€ per year through the shop/token system and at numbers large enough to overshadow those of us who do not use the shop or tokens??
Welcome to whales and micro-transactions.
If you saw what the highest spenders actually pour into online shaps, you’d cry
The “issue” (because is just personal taste) is that people try other mmorpg with the expectation of having the same experience like world of Warcraft, so i find it logical that mostly always come back.
I instead where i look aroud i look for the exact opposite and i found my cup of tea in Albion Online.
It is the complete opposite from the core: no classes, very litle character customisation, crafting focused (with a skill point tree that makes path PoE look like Diablo 3), endgame is world PvP where you need a larve group and if you die people can loot your gear.
I have to say for his small niche the game is pretty succesfull and still going strong after years.
Try something completely different from what you usaly play, at worst you will just lose 1-2hh trying a new game.
I can imagine. I mean, the entire f2p paradigm not just thrives but outright dominates the video game scene exactly because of whales, and it’s what has “convinced” publishers that all games need to follow that to survive.
But we can already see what some publishers who overfocus on it suffer, like a certain French-based one.
Its mostly from people who buy boosts, that is the most money for them, hence the whole game is revolves now around boosting. 3k achievment, dinars with req, not being able to get glad mount in solo shuffle, etc
Guildwars 2 is not an mmo when player cap is 150 at a map. And the grind there is huge. Making gold is hard. So its more expensive then wow. Nothing drops on mobs. Every skin goes to the gem store. I once hoped it got fishing. Then it did. But nothing nice on the loot table. The greed from anet is huge. So fishing is pointless. Its just grinding mats but through another way.
Your argument is mute when wow barely has 20 people per map and even when it does the phase cap is way less than gw2.
Also, atleast in gw2 if you want to grind you can, unlike wow that puts timegates on everything so you can’t grind, looking at you undermine reps that take 6-7 months of weeklies to max out without going for paragon chests.
Gw2 doesn’t have a monthly sub so ofc it’ll have a store and its still cheaper and less predator than wow. Most of their armor comes from collections, crafting or raids and are unique with dye channels that let you customize appearance. Meanwhile wow has tmog from what, tier sets with 6 recolours every 3-4 months and £20 store items every couple weeks.
If you want to defend blizzard or talk about your opinions on other games, sure. But don’t just make stuff up and be disingenuous about it.
Look at guildwars 2 forum for ppl who want friends to play the game. They have to spend over 100 bucks for all expansions and living seasons. The greed is huge. Twitch drops always give junk. Proof by fans on facebook. They also say its junk.
Bosses drops nothing. Soo-won. 50 chests with junk. The only loot are infusions. The game stays healthy by gamble addicts. 2k gems cost 25 euro. 2 bags slots and a mount and its gone. Ofc its free to play. If not then noone plays it. Group finder has nothing but only boosts on sell. And when there is a spot you have to be fast. And if not having alac or whatever your are not welcome by them. New zones comes with meta’s and nothing. Ppl asked years for new races. Professions. Wvw. Pvp. But then anet had to work on content thats part of the game and so brings no cash. They choose to use 95% of the dev resources for gems store items because thats easy cash. You can barely make gold as a casual. The gold is from no life farming or high lvl fractals. The game has awesome battles but no loot. Why play an game without loot? The only loot goes to the store or the black lion chests. Now they brought a new raid. Also the home steed. They said no cap. But after many questions they increased the cap. In wow you buy last expansion and you can play. Guildwars 2 is way more expensive if you only use gold to gems. When there comes a sale then the gem price from gold goes 25% up. So it cost more gold. So is no sale. The sale is only when you buy gems with cash. Or when already had the gems or being rich. Ofc the skins and graphics are nice. But you need someone to pay for the greed. Also their engine. Too many players and 22 fps. They are milking and their community wants to spend for nothing. They always say. Its free to play but
Comes with and excuse. We buy gems
Montly because we love the game. What a joke.
Also who wants to grind? I dont like it.
Yes the dye channel is a nice feature. But the greed of anet is so huge. A simple mini adding to the loot table of fishing is too much asked. Ridiculous. I grew up with in mind that greed is a bad thing. If anet comes with a chariry then they need the players for their good advertisememt to let the world know how good they are. But when they have to do a giveaway. We get revive orbs or other junk. They sometimes give away a bl chest key to welcome
Players in the black lion chest gambling. They also removed first slot of bl chest so thats always junk. 1/8 keys is a 5th slot. So 7 keys are always wasted. 1 key cost 1.25 euro.
Players who invested in alt accounts for daily login bonus made too much free gold so anet nerfed it. Pure greed.
What? An MMO has a forums of people asking if there’s anyone else who plays thats wants to be friends and play together? Say it isnt so. The wow brainrot is real with this one.
Stopped reading the rest once you started talking about how gw2 players are just addicts and dont plan on continuing.
You are afraid of the truth like all players who defend anets greed. Its pathetic. Be real and read everything. I will change my mind when ppl come with good arguments. But if ppl dont want to read it because maybe i am right. This is the reason why guildwars 2 is still a thing. Players with rose tinted glasses who doesnt want to know the truth.
Still not reading but have a thumbs up instead.
