But I am seriously confused, and would like to know what post I made that was innappropriate? I’ve been on these forums for 14 years(well, not exactly this version of them), and I have never been flagged as I generally like to believe I know how to behave on forums .
So yes, I am very curious what I have written that would get me flagged. The only thing I found, as someone quoted me, was “…or you don’t understand how to melee”, and I know I wrote something about mechanics being fairly even between ranged and melee on encounters throughout the current game. How on earth that could get me flagged, I don’t know, but I would really like to know! I can’t even seem to contact support through that flag message.
If you get enough reports, you get flaged. There is no blizorg employee browsing threads and thinking “oh, this is offensive, I’ll flag it”, that’s just asking too much from them…
That it was flagged is one, that they deleted it is a second thing. Apparently they really don’t look into it anymore and either automated it completely or just go through it like we do with EULAs.
Yeah, but that doesn’t change the fact that I have no idea what was offensive, and I’d like to review my own post. The forum guidelines won’t help me a thing, as yes, I do know how to behave on forums. I’ve been doing this for 2 decades.
Since I did write “or you don’t understand how to melee”, and came with claims that I think melee and ranged have fairly even issues on encounters all over the board, I’m gonna assume someone flagged me for disagreeing with me, and in that case the flag system really isn’t working anymore.
Either way, it would really help if I could see my own post. Maybe I had a moment of tantrum and threw in something I should not have. I have been grumpy lately.
I got a post removed cause it contained a guild name with an innuendo.
The guild still exists in game though.
I guess slightly warranted, but I do see posts that get flagged here that just seem to be an unpopular opinion as opposed to actually offensive.
I feel like the removal of a dislike button just gives people more ammo just to press the flag option instead.
And if you’re right about what you think was flagged and removed, I’m a bit disappointed in the moderation.
Good luck working it out. I got my first temporary vacation owing to a post I made a month or two ago and similar to you been using the forums for ages.
Scoured the quoted post, couldn’t identify the problematic part at all. It wasn’t no much to challenge it because 2 days vacay isn’t the end of the world, rather it would be useful to know what it was so I can avoid doing it again.
The only response I got was essentially “look, you know what you did, read the CoC” so I just left it.l, couldn’t be bothered. My request for clarification was very politely phrased as well.
This is my concern. I love these forums, but if I followed my own pattern and kept it within the guidelines(which I have, at least until now??), I am really upset a flag like that would get through.
As I said though, I have been grumpy lately… normally I contain myself, but now I’m curious if I let something through my own filter without thinking about it.
I’ve had that recently too, I was told it was borderline trolling. The thing is it offended someone, not just the quoted part but something else in there and if it was hidden first then a lot of people thought it. Someone could have used alts to multi report it.
But it was not so bad that you get a ban for it.
One more thing, Blizzard have a rule about discussing bans, but since you weren’t banned that might not apply.
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t show the flagged post in the message…how can you know what you did wrong/learn from it if you don’t know what they are talking about?
They let a lot of staff off the forums go though last year, did they not?
Big help would be if they actually showed us a copy of the post they removed in the messagge that they deleted it… This is just confusing and not helpfull at all.
Edit: My bad, it didn’t it just gave a link which because it had been removed I couldn’t see it. Mine was telling someone to work a bit to get Anima.
I am aware of that, but i am not really discussing what happened to me directly. I’m more wondering what I did wrong. Might be a bit borderline, but I’ll take that. I would contact support themselves, if I had an option of that in the flag, but I can’t see that anywhere. It seems to be “one way communication”. Forums guidelines won’t help me, as I am aware. I even do a lot of forum moderation myself, though elsewhere. Best case someone remembers my post as it was indeed offensive and could tell me what possibly ticked it off.
Firstly, I know no one owes me an explanation. They can remove anything they want and I’m okay with that.
But, while I know I can be a snarky git when I’m tired or frustrated, I do try to keep my posts appropriate and within the guidelines. I also write for a living and am naturally very measured and careful with the way I word stuff.
I’ve had posts removed and I have no idea why. I assume the human decision is superceded by enough flags, which is open to abuse.
But, it’s just posts on a forum about a computer game that I’m playing less and less each week so it doesn’t keep me up at night.
Oh I totally agree on that. It just worried me as I do love these forums, but if they lose control of moderation it’s going to push me out. Hence I’d like to know what actually happened here.
I am not going to stay on forums where I get flagged for not agreeing with someone.
Well, I found my second post in the thread, so basicly the one that was removed is the one where I said “Either you don’t play ranged, or you don’t know how to melee”. Moo.
Judging by the post left in the thread I seem to have been quite reasonable and not aggressive.
