I always liked professions in WoW, always have some alts with all professions maxed out because I like being self sufficient for crafts whatever they are.
This doesn’t seem possible with Dragonflight. In all my professions except alchemy, I am stuck because the only way to level is to use this failed public work order system. There is just no way now to level using these because there is not enough public orders. It could have been possible at the beginning but now that some people with R4 spam trade chat, nobody will ever use the public order to craft R1 which is required for the leveling.
I am not sure what Blizzard envisions here because I can’t find a way to level my professions using their system apart from the Darkmoon Faire. People with R4 have full control of the crafting market because they were first, I am not sure how the rest can ever catch up with this system.
The ranks completely screw over the public order which is, by design, a requirement for people to level their professions.
I like DF and have been grinding renown on my main and alts in the hope that it was worth it for professions in the near future, not sure that this time investment is worth it to be honest.
Even if you are willing to spend millions to level them, that doesn’t seem possible now. What are you guys doing w.r.t professions?
Yeah, that too is frustrating but I can at least understand why they do that since this opens the door to too much potential abuse of the system.
What is also bad is all the youtube videos where people explain how they leveled their professions “simple, just use recraft…” which has now been changed to prevent that kind of “easy” leveling.
To be honest, I would really like to see Blizzard explain how we are supposed to use their system to level our professions with the current state of the game.
People keep saying that, but if you simply allow one respec per month for AM, its not really gonna be abuse unless you have hardnolifer with 9 chars running same profession to specialise in all the gear slots.
There are zero crafting orders in the system. I finished the quest which required 2 crafting orders in a way that my own alt put 2 personal order to the system. I don’t know all the professions but nobody needs anything from Inscription.
Yeah public crafting orders aren’t used that much and to be fair not all professions have the same access to skillup crafts. So far alchemy is pretty easy where you can do it only from research and i’ve also managed to max the 3 gear crafting professions, enchanting seems to be the hardest for me because i specced into weapon enchants which are insanely expensive.
I’m almost at 75 engineering, i managed the last few levels from anti-tinker-backfire reagents, getting the recipe-learning to proc off backfires (Every backfire gives a chance to learn one of the schematics) took a while, because when i wanted them to, my tinkers refused to backfire.
The next Darkmoon faire quest should push me to 75, so i can start the “Explosives”-tree to reduce the backfire-rate of those, i’m stockpiling engineering profession knowledge now, so once i hit 75, i have a good start.
Crafting orders are a cruel joke for engineers, nobody wants the bracers, people who want the goggles tend to make their own (They require DF engineering skill to equip), and the epic gun schematic drops in a raid (With a bunch of people rolling against me on it, of course)
I tried to find any way to lvl my LW past 80 and my Enchanting past 85 and I just gave up. For LW I can craft some Tier4 stuff with 405 ilvl, I was offering this for free in trade chat for a few days, but there’s zero demand. Public orders are obviously dead since the beginning of expansion. I guess I can try lvl up by recrafting my own gear but honestly, why even bother.
As for enchanting I chose insights of the blue as a second spec and man did it screw me over. Now I am grid locked with only way to lvl up by investing 1M+ gold to craft crazily expensive enchants at 25k loss each.
And on top of that blizz made illusion enchantments from primal storms BoP so can’t even buy them on AH (they said they fixed it on Dec 19, but actually they didn’t).
For the final levels you need those items you can create by maxing out a branch (like Masters Hammer for blacksmithing), at least thatd how I did it.
For the weekly quest I just order 3 trash daggers with my alt from myself xD
Also flying around looking for explorers packs (can contain draconic shards once you finish the quest for Kudai) and to locate the open world treasures for free knowledge points (24 per profession, and hidden master trainer that gives 10 points when talked with) and to gather resources to refine and sell.
They could have added just a little more knowledge to gain from these so you dont have pray for shard/knowledge drops once you run out of first crafts, not to mention the ability to reset your choices…oh well, maybe later.
I woud not expect situation with Orders to change to much until we unlock 5thspark what is suposu to make sparks farmamble at this point, so number of orders shoud in theory go up then
I already did all I could do for the knowledge points (find the experts, find the one time objects, weeklies, …). There is just no public work order and I don’t feel like spamming trade chat every day for 5h.
I invested 500k for PvP gear patterns since the ilvl doesn’t matter, I’ll see if I can find people for whom I can craft this gear to level up my professions.
