How Do You Know A Class Is Your Main?

Anyone else have the problem of deciding what their main character actually is? Over the years I’ve played Druid, Priest, Monk and Shaman. One has the highest achievement points, one has the highest HKz, one has all my highest PvP achievements and one just has my most played. How do you guys differentiate an alt from a main?

I just have lots of alts.

I guess my “main” is the one with the most progress though which isn’t much, it’s the one I concentrated on first this expansion so my horde warlock.

I don’t think it’s wrong to not have a main if that works for you, if you have different characters for PvP and pve then that’s fine, you can have multiple mains if that suits you best or just lots of alts.

How you choose to play is up to you.

My main has just always been my main since i created it in tbc. Never felt the need to change to anything else. I just dont find the same enjoyment in any other class/spec.

Obviously the prettiest character you play (says a transmogger) :sunglasses:

A main is a character I put the most effort in at a given time. Sometimes it changes which char (or chars) are my mains, depending on how things go.

I mained warlock in Vanilla, prot warrior in TBC, prot warrior then frost dk in WotLK. Mained Mistweaver in BfA when I came back. Started Shadowlands maining resto druid & vdh, but switched the DH to a holy pally halfway into 9.0. Lately, I dropped one main, and switched from druid to resto shaman.

Going into 9.2, I might go back to druid or DH, or stay shaman - dunno, we’ll see.

What I enjoy playing depends on what goals I wish to reach, and who I play with, too. I’m not very attached to either character, so switching around is easy for me. If I stop having fun playing a spec, or class, I simply switch in a blink of an eye.

I would say the same. Though not always actually, the prettiest char I have has the class I do not enjoy playing much.

The same way I do for things I like and things I don’t, that’s how.

Oh its easy, the one i am doing hardest content on.
i have 4 decently geared chars atm and 4 more max level alts plus bunch of 50s.

I find that limiting myself to playing one class drags down overoll enjoyment of the game Your character is your perspective into the world and content, and playing just one character gives me a very narrow and boring one.

Making alt unfriendly systems takes away from the game, imho playing alts should be encouraged more.

i dont have alts i have a zerg army what see all and hears all and they do what i tell them to do …

Odd concept. That’s like telling me to choose between a Banana, Orange and an Apple. I like them all equally for different reasons.

Thanks for the smartass reply tho.

This is ny main. I got 20+ alts but this one I do achivements on (or try to do)
It’s the character I enjoy the most. It’s her I unlock flying on and her I lvl up first.
Whenever have taken a break from WoW, and I’ve done that often, It’s her I miss playing.
No other. Mmorpg have really captured the hunter class imo. EQ2 and GW2 tried but never came close

Ugh. I wish it was as cut and dry for me like that. I just enjoy different characters for different content. I guess I’m doing a lot more PvP at the moment, so enjoying my Druid more because that’s the content I’m preference at the moment. But then if I was in a raiding guild again I’d prefer and enjoy my Shaman more. :joy:

Probably just overcomplicating everything.

My druid was my main up until cata. I stopped enjoying healing there.
I hated to have to do the insane achievement again but I am halfway there so yay!
I am a solo person and to me no other class comes close to a hunter.
Together with hubby i got a 2 person guild and I sm trying to do the classy achivements. Hunter i enjoy most, all 8 of them.
I got a theme to tame on all my alts so noone has the same pets.
Idk i just enjoy the class

I kinda identify (lol) my main as the character i first made, a male draenei paladin and when people say what class is my main I usually say retri even though I haven’t really played it properly since wotlk. So for me it’s more about a lore perspective.

This doesn’t mean that I dont enjoy druid but id rather find myself playing the meta classes in the part of the game I enjoy most (raiding) or simply what my guild needs for this or upcoming tiers.

People call that meta slaving. I call it bored enough to test things that is needed for my guild and friends.

So why the heck (pardon my french) did you ask the question in the first place?

This DK has been my first max level in Cata, MoP, WoD, Legion, BFA and Shadowlands.

So i consider it the definitive “Main”

This is always my main.

Some people like to chop and change a lot. I just stick with my main pala.

Not that I believe in astrology, but I’m the textbook Gemini :frowning:

Afk playing is not really what I’m after. I like being melee and smacking the enemies up close

I’ve got all classes 12 to be precise , at my character screen the one i feel clicking on . I chose feelings over logic .
