There will he NPC’s in Orgrimmar like stood on the little hill to the right between the AH and the bank.
These NPC’s will differ depending on if it’s AB, AV or WSG weekend.
That’s how you can easily tell in-game what ‘BG weekend’ it is.

Battleground weekends follow a 4-weeks cycle starting on 13 March:
1st week - WSG weekend
2nd week - AB weekend
3rd week - no BG weekend
4th week - AV weekend
Then the cycle starts again. So this November, we will have:
30 Sep - 3 Nov - AB weekend
6 Nov - 10 Nov - no BG weekend
13 Nov - 17 Nov - AV weekend
20 Nov - 24 Nov - WSG weekend
27 Nov - 30 Nov - AB weekend
Keep in mind that the battleground weekend starts at 12:00am on Thursdays and ends at 04:00 am on Tuesdays.
