How do you name alt's?

Yes, I find it quite jarring to remember whether their druid is the one with accent or not, or is the accent on the first or the second i?

Like, my chars are distinct, so I give them distinct names. This makes sense to me. I usually run with racial names:
LFD:
Melchamas (Paladin)
Alomen (Priest)
Zhaelar (Hunter)
Arcimendus (Mage)

Nelf:
Telestrian (DH)
Lorathenus (Warrior)

Gnomes:
Paxmillian (Monk)
Zinkledora (Priest)
Rosalindie (Warrior)
Willikers (Mage)

Trolls (Zanda)
Zuujax (Paladin)
Malazhun (Mage)
Zenbrax (Druid)
Yojanda (Warrior)
Makalja (Hunter)

Tauren:
Hotahk (Paladin)
Harnek (DK)
Brommul (Monk)
Naralah (Priest)

Mag’Har Orcs:
Vrakkis (Blackrock Mage)
Shriek (Laughing Skull Rogue)
Roggor (Thunderlord Hunter)
Gardhal (Shadowmoon Priest)

Names have always come to me quite easily i’ve found!

Unless I have a very good name, I pick names that have the nick of my main in there. Like this char has a name that was just too good to “ruin” with my nickname :joy:

I ripped mine off the Alien series. my alliance opposite is named facehogger. A reference to both alien and the knoll we all know so well.

I have knoll idea who you could possibly be referring to :eyes:

Local swear words

Many of my characters use anagrams. Someone that is important to you, change the letters, make it sound like a name for your race, and voila!

That’s so boring  all my alts have different names. Can’t imagine it’s easy to mail something to an alt if you have 50 Millii’s

How about Amilii? Like Amelie. Sounds pretty

All my characters have syl in them; Sylvy, syls, sylvin, sylvie, sylkin, syllidan (yes i know :P), Sylv, Syladin

And then I have a few individually named characters. Iamfabulous is my bank character, and he is a fabulous death knight who wears a pretty pink dress. I have a draenei shaman called Davethegoat, because he’s a space goat called Dave.

No I’m not a hardcore sylvanas simp, as a true cat lady my first proper “main” Sylvin was named after my first cat Sylvia, I couldn’t get the name sylvia obviously so I just tried different variants on the final letter til I found one I liked the sound of. ^^

I tend to add extra letters to a name, providing I don’t have to go overboard.

For example I liked Gryshka for my orc but it wasn’t available so it became Gryshkha. Some like using accents, I try to avoid that myself but I have done it occasionally.

i post on my level 10 twink alt i need some level 10 epics . is still legion best way to get epics at level 10 ?

I basically have a prefix to “rhys” and go with it. So in your case add a suffix maybe.

shorter name that better

That sounds great, thank you!

The characters i play most have ‘‘unique’’ names.
Like my warrior and my DK, and my first character my hunter.

But since i do have all classes at 50 or higher, i ran out of ‘‘nice sounding names’’.
So many of those classes i just have and barely play are named with ‘‘Mae’’ (pronounced as may) at the end.
Smitemae is my priest.

ancient Greek compound names Achaean compound names
Achaeans (word composed of two or more stems) #linguistics #ancientgreek fantasy name generator fantasynamegenerators laestrygonians telemachus nameberry list ancient-greek-names Nestor Nicodemus (Hellenist French fernandrobert)

I choose names usually depending on race and class and sometimes lore.

Yojambe for example based on Yoyamba Isle.

i take a look at my VERY limited leaflet of fantasy-esc names only to find that ive alrdy used them.
then i try & change couple of letters to still make the name sound the same.

if all of these fail i usually just head on to a fantasy name generator & pick the one that sounds cool.

I usually have no trouble coming up with unique names suiting a character’s race, but here’s what I used to do back in the day when I just couldn’t come up with one: write down NPC names you in your faction’s capitol. Mix and match syllables until you find something you like.

Besides that, you could always be one of those people and âdd a féw accènts.

Miliipede, Miliionaire, Miliieu, Miliimetre, etc. You can’t go wrong using a dictionary

Think of the culture of the race. For example I named my Troll monk Bambooshka.
