My Healing career comes from SW:ToR but the situation is similar in every MMO I guess; I wanted to be self-sufficient and independent, not to be in the mercy of others; as a healer, tho’ dps is abysmall (tho’ in SW you have a nice companion who Tanked/DPs for you) but in time you can kill anything and survive
And there is that… extermely satisfying feeling to be in power
Save a random guy by throwing a buff or heal in open world? Or leave him die? Yeah, thats the real power baby! Be the master of life and death!
Someone in the team is anoying or rude… refuse to heal him, untill the aattitude improves!
Tho other technixally begging you to come along and heal them in runs? Yeah, maggots, crawl before me, lick my boots, praise me, adore me!
MUHAHAHAHAAHaaaa hahah… ah… heh…
*Ahem *
Sooo… yeah, healing is about power and independence
I have no shame admiting it!
A healer will pass a CD to save them?
A dps will taunt and die to save the wipe?
1 dps less?
2 dps less?
Your opinion is funny because you dont even play the “demanding content” you talk for xD
You are quite like the op…
Great XP towards what you talk about, i see you managed to beat mythic BoD 1st boss 3 months ago. Sure healing is irrelevant there.
What boots are you on about though? You do not wear any!
I do not consider myself a healer main, but I do heal from time to time, both in dungeons and in raids. Healing I feel gives you more flexibility than DPSing does, and unlike with DPS you feel more of a cooperation between your healers, and just like with DPS there are other factors that helps you out that does not show up on the meters itself (dispels and CC.)
when you grow up playing whack-a-mole, then playing healer is the natural option as it’s just advanced whack-a-mole in a greater setting.
Cata heroic dungeons weren’t difficult as a healer. Wtf.
They weren’t difficult as any role.
Was talking more about Lei Shen HC etc (when they were current) ya’know, some of the hardest bosses ever made in the game. I’m not talking about you and your 1 and half expansion worth of HC raiding experience. I’m talking about when HC raiding was the hardest difficulty.
They were hard in the sense it was almost impossible to heal people’s mistakes.
Before the nerfs they were quite difficult for the general population that’s why those were nerfed to the ground.
After while dpsing gets boring and there had an urge to try something new. No need to be more social as dps, as some saying here.DPS need be even more social, cos have to make brown nose to get some tanks, healers Healer get friend invites nonstop.
At least for me healing makes rewarding feeling, there are tons of thankful players.
Its could be something to do with personality also, some choose to kill people, others choose to help people.
Dps taunts when tank fails?
Oh I see we are supposed to make up scenarios for your question.
Then to answer you if healer fail then everyone in grp will use their CD and their heals and save the day.
… Please think before replying. Don’t let others take bad idea about you and your game experience.
I think I’m just a little tired of games where the objective is ‘kill things’. There’s thousands of those, I’ve done it enough; I prefer the objective of keeping other players alive.
Also, I’m not really interested in the solo player content. I do maintain and understand my dps spec, but I like groups, and being useful in groups - and we all know there’s an excess of dps. Out of tanking or healing, I found healing to be the more restful option.
Plus, if you want to talk PvP; a couple of good healers in your battleground is usually the difference between winning and losing. Healers get to choose which of the melee dps survive long enough to kill another player. Healers get to deny kills to the other team. Healers can be deeply annoying for the other team; focus us and we take ages to die, ignore us and our team takes ages to die.
I used to think like that, but after starting to play Healer I’ve come to realize how powerful it makes me feel. I’ve started to notice that playing a healer makes much more of a difference for the success of a group than any single DPS would (especially in raids).
Tanks also make a significant difference on an individual level, but they are far more punishing which makes it less enjoyable to me.
All roles gets more demanding and difficult at higher content, except IMO healers do not require as much knowledge as the others.
Trying to wrap my head around this, can you give an example where healers require less knowledge than other roles?
That is because a lot of the extras you do as a DPS to make the run go smooth is subtle and not really as noticeable like a dispel is on a healer. You will not notice a DPS interrupting a caster to get him into a group, or one that uses CCs to interrupt numerous mobs. You only notice that there is less damage to heal, and more often than not attribute it to the tank managing their CDs better than in the last group you were with.
Certain healer mechanics (like dispeling something) comes as a requirement to do specific boss in order to pass it. CC isn’t really necessary up until a certain point so when someone actually does it others tend to not notice.
Oh healing is fun
Even just while questing and someone is about to go down for some reason, getting them out alive and well is just a good feeling. Some people are just very happy to support and save the day… because yes, sometimes healers make all the difference, just like a tank.
And it’s just nice handing out buffs and getting smiley faces in return
I like how you say you’re kinda of a loner and then proceed to mention a community activity example (pug raiding) kinda reveals a lot of wow in raid and how people perceive it.
I only heal, and has always been.
I feel like DPS is boring as fast as I don’t top the list. I want my role to be crucial. Like if I do something wrong I might f*** up for people haha! I like to have responsibility. I like the idea of being the one who keeps everyone alive…
And also I’m a Registered Nurse IRL… might have to do with that as well haha
Allow me to find this… Laughable.
Sorry
Better use of armory is needed in your case.
Sadly.
Giga brains right?
Yes it does happen. Even MW monk can taunt
Thats why i told you… You must raid in hard difficulties to see how game is, nobody can survive psychus phase two walking distance without their defensive, if their defensives are already wasted its RIP.
Not to mention hunters/mages/palas/DH’s have to have their CD for the soak part and never use it before…
Play abit more before you post buddy?
