Ok, so according to the description, Blood Fury does the following:
“Increases base melee attack power by 25% for 15 sec and reduces healing effects on you by 50% for 25 sec.”
But what exactly does “base melee attack power” mean? Some people say that it only increases your base attack power. Others say that it scales with strength and/or agility from gear, but not with flat+ Attack Power. So, can sombody please test this out and tell me if gear affects Blood Fury? Thanks.
You could test it yourself.
Use it and attack some stuff, then use it again and attack stuff without your gear on.
I just tried this with my warr alt.
According to my character sheet I had 157 melee AP with my gear on. Then I used Blood Fury and it gave me 196 melee AP. That is a difference of 39 AP, and which is about 25% increase. This was without Battle Shout.
With Battle Shout I have 194 melee AP, and 233 with Blood Fury. That’s is still 39 increase, so it seems it doesn’t factor in buffs at least.
Thanks for the information!
Wow, seems like these people can read the spell tooltip, quite amazing.
Base melee attack power is attack power before gear/buffs, simply based on level.
edit: Correcting bad information. While base stats are stats before gear/buffs, contrary to what I said BF does increase AP derived from strength/agility present in gear. Disregard my other posts below.
Ok, thank you for the clarification.
Hm. But with my testing it seemed to scale with my gear.
Yes it should scale with gear.
Strength (and Agi for rogues) gives attackpower, and that attackpower is part of your base, and should scale with Blood Fury.
Attackpower added directly from gear and buffs however should not be affected by Blood Fury.
No, base attack power is the attack power you have before any gear or buff, the AP from whatever agility or strength you have at your level when naked.
Wanna test my attack power when naked, pretty dwarf girl? Meet me in the Goldshire inn.
You push button and smash harder.
You sound like an orc in disguise. Someone check him for orbs of deception!
It’s what Orc warrior tanks use to make healing more interesting.
No, I just explained to you how it works hehe.
Your base attack power includes what you get from Strength and Agility.

This screenshot show your Attackpower from Str listed as white, with an additional 20 AP from the equipped Blackstone Ring.
Blood Fury would be increasing the 490 melee AP, but not the 20 extra from the Ring.
What the character sheet shows in white is not your base attack power.
Well you are wrong. Just go test it yourself.
I don’t have an orc with more than 2 strength from gear to post screenshots and don’t feel like making one for that purpose. Do you have one?
So you are just guessing how it works. Glad we cleared that up. You cannot trust tooltips in Vanilla.
Anger Management is a prime example of that. Doesnt work at all like the tooltip claims.
So, to be clear, you say I’m wrong because I don’t provide proof, but you can say you’re right without providing any proof either.
Is that how it works?
