How have you been enjoying The War Within so far?

I unfortunately haven’t been able to play the game at all.
I still decided to pay a subscription so I can post on the forums because your company is the most valuable thing in the world to me.

But I will get back to the game someday, and I’m curious to know how you rate the expansion so far.

What have been this expansion’s main strengths and weaknesses?
What would you like to see improved in future patches and what should go away entirely?

4/10 - never seen any of their expansions in such a poor state as TWW

Including BFA?

Overall I’d give it a 6/10. High points are the art and music.

Lowest point is the excessive grind which rivals and surpasses even Korean F2P grinders.

I’m a bit underwhelmed by the replies.

I was hoping for a more in-depth look into the state of PvE, PvP, class design, the lore, new features and systems, etc.

Far far from my favourite. But I just resubbed for a certain tradition of mine every December.

I’m not even touching endgame this expansion, can’t get into m+ again. The raid was pretty fun on normal but I think my days of playing wow “seriously” are behind me and no changes so far are pointing to there being a reason to change that.

There is simply not enough content to keep people occupied. It’s very obvious if you try to start a group for any end game content that requires some sort of previous experience- there is hardly any people online anymore except on Wednesdays when it’s the weekly reset. Trying to create a Nerub-ar Palace Heroic raid with experienced people on other days is near impossible, there are so few signups and those who actually sign up are mostly inexperienced people.

This is the risk when you choose to design your game with PvE players as your main target.

PvE is inherently boring so it needs a constant flow of new content to remain interesting. How many times can you clear the same 8 dungeons before getting bored? It’s repetitive. You know the mechanics, you know the environment, you know every voiceline and you’ve acquired all the loot. What’s there left to do in there, right?
That’s why we need these new patches every few months, to switch things up a bit.

Meanwhile, PvP players have been enjoying the game on the same 3 arena maps for 20 years and if anything, they’re asking for some of them to be removed. As long as class design doesn’t promote double digit IQ gameplay (Havoc DH, BM Hunter) then PvP players will, for the most part, be happy with the game.

PvP used to be just as popular as PvE.

A shame Blizzard chose to neglect it, they could absolutely have gotten away with providing less content for the game had they put their eggs in the PvP basket.

It’s hard to explain… But I haven’t enjoyed it as much. Its something I never thought id say. But I strangley miss shadowlands.

I think shadowlands is the last expansion where the game story and cutscenes still felt a little epic and cool.

Ever since Dragonflight i feel like ive been watching the Dragon prince or avatar the last airbender as far as story goes.

Interesting take.
It’s the opposite for me: Shadowlands is when I stopped caring about the lore and the story.
Because why would I? They turned the afterlife into a joke. Nothing has meaning or consequences. “Death” felt like just another planet we visit with not a care in the world.

Now, when an important character dies on screen, I just think: “Oh, they’re going to the Shadowlands now I guess. How lame. Have fun in bastion, Thrall.”

Emphasis on ‘‘A little’’ epic and cool here on my part : p I felt what you mentioned too. I think the afterlife should have remained a mystery as well.

But the action and the scenes and fights we where getting felt a little more climactic than what we have got now i feel

Solid 7/10. It’s not as good as Dragonflight was, but it’s still leagues ahead of BFA or SL. I enjoy the story and the raid. M+ is not the best but acceptable too (but I might just be saying this because I’m a healer who pushes her own keys lmao).

Hi Slapface, if you want indepth for me (disclaimer - personal opinion)

TWW quests and storylines

  • I love them, currently in process of swapping main from Blood DK to Assassin Rogue. I enjoy redoing them all and I like just being alone traversing the zones and enjoying them.
  • I enjoy the mostly and overly positive theme of the writing, I don’t care about any gritty stories etc as I also have real life for grit and struggles.
  • Compared to previous expansions, there is A LOT of side quests, almost too much. But I will push through.

TWW classes

  • I can really talk only about DK and Rogue specs. Despite new exp, I still love them for the same reasons as the past 20 years of me playing WoW.
  • currently most meta is Assassin so I play Assassin.
  • i see all the changes, strengths and weaknesses of these 6 specs and I am positive, I don’t doom and gloom or swap because % ups and downs.

PvE

  • I love my PvE pragmatically, doing 10s for portals and weekly vault is easy as I play with friends and guildmates.
  • Raid is harder to me, especially mythic Ovinax and upwards. I am happy to help my friends, but I look forward to time when I can stop taking my DK as main tank.
  • delves 8 and above are easy even on rogue, so it is nice chill time where I can watch anime or fairy tales with my wife on the other monitor.

PvP

  • I like PvP, currently I am cucmber as I still have to finish gearing my rogue to be on the start line.
  • longer queue times, but I worked up system where I block longer time for PvP queuing and in between I do other things outside of wow.
  • I am gathering materials for studying PvP to play better, but it is hard to get those. I could really use having experienced PvPer to go through the basics with me, though.

Overall, I am happy with TWW, so far I haven’t found any bug-related obstacle so can’t advise on those.

Disc and Hpal broke Arena, and MW monk broke blitz. That’s all you need to know.

Balance is a huge mess but you can still have fun if you don’ t take things too seriously.

2/10.

SL was more enjoyable than. blizzard are more then ever hyper focused on engagment metrics through timegates rather than good content. As well as shop and promotion spam. I firmly believe Blizzard deserves to lose 70% of its playerbase at this point.

Enjoyed it untill i reached the 11-12 m+ wall , did some PVP then was fun untill i unlocked the lite transmog i wanted , now im done untill season 2 so im not playing exept for raid days with my guild, nearly everyone is allready on break untill season 2.

All i can say about the xpac is that the campaign was nice, zones are pretty and cool but as far as content once you have reached aotc, 2.5km+ score and whatever your goal is for pvp there isent much left at the moment content wise. Delves to me are just not fun… didnt like them at start still dont.

The new patch thats coming is not even an incentive to get me back to playing more then once or twice a week.

more players will be coming back once season 2 is on the horizon

Playing rated PvP only 4/10.

3s participation is non existent, glad out of reach even with a two year old stable team.

Hanging in there with bg blitz welfare 2.4k rating for the rewards.

Not realy playing for the story but this expansions campaign is more interesting than DF, im for more old god stuff.

Cant say about m+ or raiding, quitted a long time ago and dont see the appeal, no rewards there for me.

Delves did not interest me in the slightest - i wont use the gear and the basic gameplay already turned me off in the pre season.

The Dornogal “music” alone, no matter how LOW your turn the slider, is giving this expac -19000/10. It is SO dang LOUD and ear piercing! :face_exhaling:

It’s otherwise a weak 6/10 release. So. Many. Bugs!! and the class balance is laughable at best, a disgrace at worst.

Despite it all I still enjoy running M+ however compared to previous seasons, DF S3+4 especially, it’s mentally taxing and I can’t run more than 2-3 in a row.
