Only on the Firemaw GDKP realm.
Go to the PvE realms for a more Classic experience - you won’t see GDKP or boosting there.

There are plenty of players on the PvE cluster.
Problem is that people are now so acclimated to massive megaservers that not seeing literally hundreds of people running around quest areas make them believe that the servers are ‘empty’ or ‘dead.’

Firemaw still is a GDKP fiesta but as always there are regular guilds you can join.
It is a matter of perspective - You can have an enjoyable experience but the community has been, to a great extent, hollowed out.
As for the PvE cluster, I think it is as healthy as it has ever been specially on Alliance. I do not personally play there but I bet the community is tight-knit and strong. To me, if i were to start playing again, joining the PvE cluster would be a no brainer.
Definitely not dead. Firemaw is bigger today than Gehennas at its height during Classic.
As for the playerbase, I can attest there is a bit of everything. In any case, 99%+ do not go around asking about your irl sexual activity, so no issues there either.

Era is doing just fine. Sure alot of GDKP raids, but also alot of Regular raids of all kind. Im doing regular ZG, AQ 20 / 40, MC and BWL with my guild. Tons of other guilds doing just the same…

Just got back to Era last week and was actually shocked how many people there are playing, it was almost hard to tag quest mobs in the middle of the jungle in stv, I have been playing retail and sod until now, and can safely say Era is much more alive than both of them together.
But yea there are GDKP spam in world chat, that was the only negative I have seen for now.

I don’t know what “ERA” means.
I play on Firemaw WoW Vanilla server, neither “SOD” nor “HARDCORE”.
Firemaw is now cross-server matched with a few other servers. The server has so many people it reminds me of Nostalrius sans the Chinese.
Orgrimmar is packed daily. There’s so many people in Orgrimmar that if we still had original Pentium 4’s and Core 2’s Q6600’s and Wolfdale Dual Cores that we used back in 2005-2006 and Ventrillo, the client and the server would crash daily because of the load (as it happened back then).

Era is the accepted name for the servers in WoW that you call Vanilla, the original 1-60 forever realms with no frills added (only a few “improvements”).
Im having a lot of fun on era firemaw horde. Currently in lvl mid 30s, and i still find people in almost every zone from all types of levels. Relatively fine to get dungeon groups too.
It’s good, its alive. However i will say gdkp and derivatives are really starting to become fully grown in the worst way. GDKP’s have siphoned pretty much everyone in endgame raids outside of private guilds. There generally arent raids that arent gdkp’s now, because everyone wants to make gold from it. Also ZG and AQ20 are siphoning every player that could do a normal SR raid into doing sr gbid. People found out you can make so much money hosting raids so yea… honestly its turned me off from era a bit because thats all i see and it feels so soulless and its credit card game really. GDKP ppl love to say just dont do it if you dont like it and do normal, but the reality that has now manifested is that its taken all the people and all the best people go in gdkp so they can earn more and no one really has interest to doing it normally. Must find guild to effectively get that.
Besides from that its era so its pretty damn good and still going on with many players.

Yes and it is terrible picture to see, how GDKP,Sell Runs and Bots are ruining Classic.
Pservers like Nostalrius protected against this, which was the Magic and reason why people enjoyed to play there.
Until Blizzard decided to shut it down and bring us back GDKP,WTS Runs and Bots.

ERA is in the best state it has ever been right now.

I disagree with that. This is just my opinion tho, and i’m just a guy who has been playing Era non stop since day 1 that Era started in may 2021
I belive that the best state that Era ever was, started with opening of the free transfers from all servers to Firemaw/Whitemane, in september 2021, about 6 months after the start. This golden age of era lasted for about a year / year-and-a-half until november 2022-july 2023, when SoM migrations to Era stared/ended.
Why i think thats the golden age of Era and not before or after? well…
Before the Firemaw/Whitemane transfers, Era population was not just very small but also wide spread across different servers. The transfers allowed for the comunity to consolidate together. During this period the comunity was very open, friendly, and there were no bots.
Since Era was considered dead, botters considered Era a not profitable place, so they focused their bot farms elswhere. There were no GDKPs, very few guilds, and almost all raids were guild raids. The few pugs that would happen were always on SR system.
The arrival of SoM characters into Era marked the arrival of bots who transfered to to continue botting the same way what they were doing on SoM, as well as GDKP raids that existed on SoM. From then until now, Era population has grown (steadily) and droped (sharply with SoD launch). but the botters and GDKPS haven’t left.
I look back with nostalgia to that year when Era was big enough to feel very active, but was still a hidden secret, considered dead by outsiders, with a small but consolidated comunity, and a clean economy.
Wich is why seeing a coment labeling “now” as the best state Era has ever been ,has pushed me to write all this rant.
And despite all the problems Era has now, I keep playing.
