I actually started playing WoW in 2009 and the only reason I stuck with it was because I didn’t know of anything better (not sure if there was anything). The WoW I remember from my early days was a lonely experience where I barely managed to do any group content (the guilds I joined wanted to play at max level and it took me years of struggling alone to get there) and although there were sometimes people around in the open world, I rarely managed to talk to any of them. If we did talk, it was to briefly help each other achieve a single goal, then we went our separate ways.
Fast forward to 2022, and I exclusively do endgame content (levelling is so quick now that it’s easy for anyone to get there), I’m in 2 active guilds and multiple communities where there are always people online to play with, I have tons of friends on bnet, and it’s rare that I spend an evening in game without chatting to my friends on voice as we do content together.
Did I enjoy my early experience playing WoW? Well, I must have done because I stuck with it, although I didn’t play any where near the number of hours a week that I play now. And given a choice between that early experience and the fun I have playing now, I know which one I prefer.
i played classic wow, and classic relaunch. classic was much better.
I had fun in relaunch but the amount of gold buyers and bots just ruins it for me.
i did take advantage as a booster in bwl/aq40 raids, and earned alot of golds, but still it only left me a bad taste in the mouth, just thinking about ppl just buying golds and winning every thing in raids. cba such is for fools.
i have all characters on max both alliance and horde and i have some doubled the last character i lvld was in legion where dh came out and those start high:D and 50%+ of our community are probably OG´s who are like me
so how do u wanna fill up the world if we have alrdy everything done on it multiple times
oh and i cba about that armor even on TBC Classic classic zones are not shining
WoW has been out that long now that the spark it once had has gone.
I was a teenager back in TBC and a lot of people I spoke too were similar age as well. Most people who still play this game today I’m willing to bet grew up with the game and you’ve seen Peter Pan? How they never want to grow up into the boring adults. I’m afraid we’ve grown up and become those boring adults.
Wow had to evolve to fit the current playerbase. If you miss old wow you can always go play Vanilla? It has a nice nostalgic feeling but I quickly realised I prefer the new wow over the old .
World of Warcraft
2004 - 2014
“Here Lies World of Warcraft - The Greatest MMORPG of All Time”
Post-MoP WoW has had spots of moments - such as the Legion Class Halls - but has - by far and large - been extremely disappointing, or downright shocking (especially the last two expansions).
Discord the Destroyer of Guilds. So many Guilds there is zero chat and all you get is yeah people are on Discord if you want to talk. Problem is a lot of guilds use it and never say a single word in Guild chat ever and i mean GMs , Officers and it just seems to create cliques. Literally the only time i see chat is if they cant form a group and want another DPS . Then you also get the literal half the Guild all logging off at the same time after say a raid without even a so long.
As a old wow veteran ; i can clearly say , reason was Simplicity. Game was simple and straightforward. No brain storming about stats or math in game.
Raids were more inclusive, but also more chaotic. The main reason was the ‘‘masterloot’’ . Other than that, i can say it had a good raiding environment.Aside from being mainly forced for a specific role.
People werent forced to ‘‘heavy grinds’’ ; other than raid and pvp weeekly conquest cap ; people were free to do whatever they want in game. Farming, world pvp, or doing rep grinds for professions etc…
I mostly talk random strangers when im wondering around oribos, or while in garrison, but communication aspect is slowly disappearing i guess.People are getting more introverted.
When i think about actually leading RBG teams in cata ; i cant think but sigh about what is becoming this game . A bit sad actually.
I dont know you ; but i cant join keys atm unless it is my key.Communication is dead unless you are in a specific community(somehow you manage to find an active one lol) In old expansions ; min maxing wasnt this ‘‘important’’. Finding someone talking and joining a dungeon or raid was easier 10 times than current gameplay experience.
Bringing back the usefulness of old potions and engineer items ; along with world q gold or profession rewarding quests; or world pvp quests ; can be very good. (legion was a very good example for that) Also some random mounts or toys to azeroth map to reward players who do community map objectives together can be a very good addition.
I always write on general chat when im on que it works most of the time.
Guilds are not really the way to socialise atm. People like the freedom to do whatever they want, whenever they want. Communities are better way for it . Thats my opinion. Guilds are for more organised content. It always was.
Game lost a lot of players. Alliance was hurt alot more than horde , in terms of numbers.
Hopefull things will be balanced when crossfaction thing is implemented into game.
