How long were the Draenei on Draenor for?

Title question.

Exactly how long were the Draenei on Draenor for? The presence of huge structures (Shattrath, Auchindoun) seems to indicate they were there for a good long while.

The only timeline I can find says that they were around for about 200 years before the dark portal opened, but I was wondering if anyone with Chronicles or just better memory than I have might be able to shed some extra light.

If it is that long I find it weird that half-breeds and cross-cultural communication weren’t more common.

The Chronicle also says 200 years which is a stupid retcon btw

I think it was 200 years or so. But I’m not sure. Long enough for the Orcs to develop a mythology around Oshu’gun at least.

The Draenei purposefully stayed away from the Orcs and hid their cities using crystals. They wanted to keep a low profile and avoid drawing attention from the legion.

Don’t ask why but I REALLY adore you right now

The orcs did not trust them much and they often lived in separate places - there were almost no orcs in Talador or Farahlon (now Netherstorm) where the draenei lived while the draenei kept out of Frostfire (not fond of cold, as Yrel says) and Gorgrond. Nagrand was North/South split between them.

Long enough to pave part of the planet with their bones :sunglasses:

:broken_heart:

Too long to be healthy. Should have get them killed straight after landing. Would have preventet the burning Legion from enslaving the Orcs prior to prevent future problems.

But not long enough to eradicate the filthy greenskins and summon Sargeras to beat the living crap out of him?

Woah, you’re reaching new levels of ridiculous every day!

Ever heard that the Legion wanted to destroy the entire concept of life in cosmos anyway?

They would have had milennias of peace until being discovered and a world still being intact. Sounds like a good deal.

Source, please.

If you’re using headcanon, so will I.

If Draenei never came to Draenor, Kil’jeaden would have found the planet even sooner and just wiped out all orcs without even thinking of preserving them to corrupt them. Draenei’s presence saved the orcish race. Orcs payed back by slaughtering Draenei.

Prove me wrong.

So then you agree that the Alliance should have killed all orcs instead of sparing their lives and maintaining them in internment camps, for the very same reasons you set forth?

They could have killed them all just for being aliens and taking lands without asking the natives first. Be thankful my hoofed friend

You do realize that your example fits perfectly to Thalassians invading Amani lands as well?

The difference is, Draenei came to the same planet and settled in areas where orcs didn’t leave and coexisted in peace. Thalassians outright stole holy lands of Amani and started butchering them.

So, when Thalassians came to Amani lands, the Amani:

Too bad they didn’t

Your turn, fairy

They lived in peace for over 200 years. But you just had to bring the demons on your trail with you didn’t you? At least the Lightbulbs stayed back and kept fighting on Argus.

Draenei were such monsters that they wanted to spirit their children away to safety. Those Eredar infants should have stayed and fought the Legion too!

Exactly.

Thalassians began their brutal conquest right from the very start.

You remember a part of the story.

Taken from Wowpedia:

“Velen entrusted Talgath to gather eredar who were wary of Sargeras and his tantalizing offer. Among the eredar he was to gather, Velen specifically asked Talgath to bring Velen’s family. Unfortunately, Talgath was himself seduced by those very promises and betrayed Velen and his cohorts to Kil’jaeden(…)”

We also learn that after Velen and his followers were taken on board of Genedar, Velen begged Naaru to come back down to Argus to take more people with them.

Naaru refused…

Yeah, I know, I like you too
