How many are interested in FFXIV because of asmongold?

Asmon is not getting people interested. Maybe a few but that is not why Asmon is so dangerous to the MMORPG landscape.

Fact is that most people on Twitch have no idea who Asmon is nor do they care. These people also could not care less about dead games like WoW or FFXIV. They give their attention to the big players like LoL and the other massive online games.
However when Asmon will start streaming FFXIV tomorrow it will make the game shoot up the charts. People aren’t going to click on the category but they will see the game at the top of the charts which will make them look into it and also make them download it to try it. Asmon is pretty much the best thing that can happen to FFXIV because of how massive his following is, not because they hope that his viewers will play FFXIV but because he will boost the game on Twitch which puts it in front of millions of eyes that have never touched a MMORPG before.

People love to tell themselves that WoW is a “big” game but in the gaming landscape WoW is actually a worthless player. I am in very big Steam groups with large amounts of players and literally nobody plays WoW or even knows about it. People need to remember that the average age on WoW is 30. There are a ton of kids and young adults that never considered playing WoW but they are going to consider playing FFXIV when they see it at the top of Twitch tomorrow when Asmon streams and the fact that they don’t know Asmon is not going to matter. Even if Square would spend millions on world wide TV ads for FFXIV it would not be as valuable as having Asmon stream FFXIV. Tomorrow the landscape of MMORPGs will change in front of our eyes. If they do not have more players than WoW right now, they will, after tomorrow.

160K and hasn’t even made his character.

This is why Blizzard said that 9.1 is not coming in June and then released in June prematurely after Asmongold started talking about FFXIV.

Last edit: Looks like I was right. Blizzard’s management is pretty pissed off at Asmongold for putting FFXIV at the top of Twitch for the entirety of today giving them essentially free advertising that would usually cost millions. They were pissed off enough to call him an butthole on Twitter. I really wish they would channel this energy towards WoW development. The whole community is crying out for content and people are not fond of the 50 hour mount farms but apparently Blizzard is too busy tweeting abuse like children instead of listening and acting on feedback.

lolllllllll you exagerate , btw FF is a boomer/casual game , wow has probably more young players than FF , Square enix is trying to milk players in this time , the twitch mount for content creators so content creators simps for the game and sell it , they probably paid twitch for the event + promo on steam , they are going all in xdd

Interesting it seems Blizzard somehow failed to deliver and that people are already looking to play another mmo, i will wait to see what they will do about tbc classic before making my decision… *

It’s not that, people are just getting more and more disinterested to wow, so they find alternatives.

Anyway, prepare for the tide of salty forum man because you mentioned asmon, since that’s a big no no here. It makes me laugh honestly.

Who rofl ?

Who what? 10 char

I think Belluar talking about it persuaded me to give it a shot. And obviously, wow’s horrific state of things helped with the persuasion.

And honestly after playing it, I realized how bad the current state of wow really was. It got to a point that we didn’t even realize the problems.

I mean we all talk about this system and that system and this class and that class all the time. FF14 showed me how fundamentally broken the community and everything else is.

Asmongold is just someone i’m interested to know how he reacts to the game. He didn’t do the persuading.

Marginally worse gcd timer & Devs policing the game turned it off for me on its own tbh.

Dude, 2.5 sec gcd is not marginally worse, that’s like day and night.

As someone who liked very fast gameplay/rotations, that is honestly a big turnoff, if i could i would even reduce wow gcd to 1 second, and 100 % haste is 0.5 gcd, while energy is 0.75 fixed.

The GCD means nothing in FF end game. As you have many skills NOT on the GCD you weave between. Alot of the classes play faster then DH with a much better rotation, and actual combos you build up (with multiple combos for different situations). FF14s GCD literally means nothing, and there are classes with higher keys per minute then wow.

Rogues and cats have a 1sec GCD. And i think the same still applies to DKs and Monks.

Yes i know. The point was that i would personally like it even faster.

means a lot when those off gcd abilities are locked at level 70+ and the devs expect you to go through the MSQ with a class feeling worse than vanilla ret

it’s the exact reason i quit two classes at 50 because i just couldn’t take it anymore

Depending on spec that would be pointless for rogues given energy pooling is already a thing. The amount you can push out would be faster ye, but you would still have pooling time.

Yeah fully agree, the MSQ is far too long. I’ve tried to get into ff14 twice over the last year, every time by the time I hit max level I’m near enough done because I’m so burnt out. Saying that wows classes are aweful now too till max level.

Tried to level an outlaw rogue on horde after maining one for the last 4 years on alliance. You don’t even get very key skills till nearly max level, or an AoE finisher on sub till nearly 60 lol. It felt so weird and aweful to play not having roll the bones, filler skills, blade flurry etc. And isn’t remotelh how you’d even play it at 60 which is very weird.

You would also get more energy ofc, it would be adjusted.

Basically right now the base gcd for non energy classes is 1.5 sec, while energy is 1, i would reduce that to 1 sec base for non energy, and 0.5 sec at 100 % haste, and 0.75 base for energy classes.

So you want the non agile classes such as warriors etc be faster in their output than the agile classes at 100% haste?

Imagine people arguing about 2.5gcd in ff14 while there’s awful ghosting built into the game and it always feels like 500 ping : D

With 2.5gcd or without, game is anyway unplayable
