Verbal abuse by Blizz employee is oke? But

Saying one naughty word on the forums or ingame = ban. Yet an important retail wow dev can just be verbal abusive? It’s disgusting, disrespectful and pretty much sums up the modern Blizzard we know of today. Obviously they’re mad that thanks to Asmongold FFXIV now has more viewers on Twitch. This in a time where it already had more players and is more popular. Nobody to blame but yourselves.

It’s maybe a bit tacky to do that to a streamer of a game you work on, but it’s a big deal either. I’m sure his bosses have expressed their displeasure at him doing that, and that’s enough imo.

Let’s not blow this out of proportion.

Yea. It was a disrespectful thing to do from someone like that.

But we’re all humans. And it’s not like none of us slips from time to time.

And as for his “getting away with it”, I highly doubt that.

A full day of people discussing and condemning the guy, not to mention the high chance of asmon’s obsessive fans sending him death threats left and right, which trust me, THEY DO.

I think that should be enough of a punishment.

I don’t feel like giving a fortune 500 company employee a free pass. It is very telling of the culture in Blizzard. They produce bad games and are stuck with toxic, over confident devs that have yet to redeem themselves. It is so different from the FFXIV devs, so sad.

How do you feel when asmong swears at other players when apparently he is important to the community ? What about when he tells people to spit on others about mounts or threatens other streamers partners ? What the dev was very wrong but Asmong is no angel .

Would be good of Blizzard to at least make it public what his punishment was. If he got any.

And its unacceptable behavior from a Lead Product Manager. It shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

People are getting so worked up in this FFXIV vs WoW “battle”.
Just play the game you want and let the devs worry about the marketing and stuff(if they want to). I play a video game cause I find it fun not cause some random guy on the internet streamed it on twitch…if anything. I actually read reviews about new games than watch how many “streamers” are streaming on whatever platform.

The problem is actually a lot larger than just calling someone a butthole.
I work in a company larger than Blizzard and if you went and called someone external a butthole who has been driving so much traffic towards your product you would be let go on the spot. Asmon literally has been defending WoW every single day. His chat is filled with people trash talking the game and Asmon frequently says that it’s not so bad and that WoW is still better than most games and that he is going to go back cause he is excited for WoW and now Blizzard leadership is calling him a butthole on social media like kindergarten children.
The real issue here has nothing to do with Asmon because that can acts like a bututhole all the time and that guy is literally saying the truth. The actual problem is that he was responding to another Tweet by some nobody who was asking the FFXIV to CANCEL and GANG UP on Asmongold to get him banned off their game. This is mobbing and cancel culture. This is harassment. And someone who works in management at Blizzard saw this Tweet and JOINED IN on the hate. Just let that sink in.
If you did that in WoW your account would be shut down.

This is on top of spending 8 months to give us garbage content which the community very clearly does not like. Even the people who hate me on this forum frequently criticise the patch every day. If this happened where I worked people would go to you and say. I see you like to spend time on social media. Do you have too much time, do you need work?

I also see people say that this is his private account. No it is not. If you work in management in a company on the stock exchange you no longer have “private social media”, especially not when you use the company name and products and your job title in your bio on the account. If he wants a private account he can remove those things but he won’t because he knows it gets him more followers and attention.
This guy needs to get removed so that someone who actually feels like doing his job can take over.

He is a streamer, not a representative of the game we play. Blizz prolly does nothing. As usual. Pride badges during pride, but no talk about hong kong of course because our values mean nothing. And that whole fiasco with hate against white males. It’s like seeing a child throwing a tantrum and doing something bad, and the parent just standing there, smiling.

I think game companies would soon just forbid their employees to use twitter. They are causing too much bad PR.

By your own logic, about the stuff Asmon has posted on twitter and said on stream - you think he should be banned yes?

They can only blame themself with their system most people don’t like and the poor amount of content they give to their players on top of constent nerfs or game change at the expand of the player.

And it is not the first time they disrespect their customers like when that ion guy insulted the community more reason with their poor x-pack to play tbc classic version casually and call it a run.

Depressing times we live in when a great person has to endure such a horrible hatefilled personal attack

He’s a person. Probably stressed to hell and back and getting dumped on all day by thousands. I have only a very small sample of what it feels like to stand that kind of pressure, and I almost cracked twice under it. That was while managing a discord server with not even half a million people on it. Can you imagine how hard it is to be in a leadership position with millions of people unhappy at you?

I’m not saying that gives a free pass, nor am I saying that it’s a good idea for him to run his mouth when people will associate what he says with blizzard.

I’m saying that it’s not that big of a deal and tbh getting a talking to is enough. Now if he keeps doing it, that’d be a different thing.

The problem at blizz isn’t that the devs are arrogant. They’re very in tune with feedback and do their job excellently. The problem is their priorities as set by upper management (the people a couple of steps above him) are to make as much money and retain as many MAU’s as possible, to the detriment of everything else.

They’re very good at fulfilling their objectives. Their objectives just conflict with what we want.

It’s funny how much people will attack this guy for calling a streamer what he is - while that streamer calls devs he’s never talked to or met, or likely even seen talk about anything or how they work the same and much worse but they don’t make this threads at him.

Asmongold has said himself he doesn’t need people to defend him, that he is a big boy that can handle it, and that’s it’s fair after all he has said about the game before.

I can’t link it here due to the profanity in it.

Put down your

:crossed_swords: :carousel_horse:

He is gonna be okay :stuck_out_tongue:

He’s probably happy about it too - might bring new viewers and subs.
