How many times do YOU think it's ok to gank/grief someone on a PvP realm?

I’m just interested what you all think?
How many times do you think it’s ok to grief or camp someone regardless of their level to you?

Yes yes we know it’s a PvP realm and is fine in line with TOS etc etc but I’m interested in what you all think.
Just kill over an over regardless whether grey to you? Kill once and move on? Leave them be until they attack?

Some of my experiences have been quite funny.
This morning I was camped by various lvl 60 chars for 45 mins that each had epic mounts. I tried to get away after ressing but was chased down (easily) and easily killed. This happened many times.
When I was able to group up with a priest and hunter and we managed to kill the mage we were instantly set upon by 4 more of his friends and they pwned us lol.
The other day in Felwood myself and 2 other lvl 52 chars were camped by a 60 rogue for over an hour. We banded together to try to kill him but couldn’t lol. I moved to another area north in Felwood but the rogue had followed lol.

The irony is come phase 2 the wpvp ganking is going to get much much worst

Until their tears taste like fresh water because there is no more salt left. :smiling_imp:

I think if you roll on a PvP realm you can be expected to be corpse camped until you relog to another character or move zone to get away from them. It is part and parcel of being on a realm like that.

I think it’s a vicious circle too, if you are ganked/corpse camped while levelling then when you see lower people or easy prey in your path you’re gonna destroy them so they can suffer as you did.

My usual rules are, 1-3 kills, if it’s a fair-ish fight (however I usually lose fair-ish fights :D). I almost never kill grays, and usually don’t ambush those with 20% HP too.

Of course, if it’s someone annoying, it goes to 5 or more - but by 5 they’d almost always log off.

When phase 2 is out, it’s unfortunately going to change to “game says an honorable kill, means no dishonor in it”.

I used to play on a pvp realm, and then an rp pvp one. I didn’t gank, I was one of the friendly carebears who’d wave and help if someone got into trouble. No matter how much I got ganked and camped, I remained that way. A blight on a proper pvp server!

If someone attacked a friend or guildie, I’d go help tho, and hunt them down. And they’d die at least 3 or 4 times, to bring the point home they should leave them in peace, or bring more friends. And if they did the latter, we’d bring more guildies and friends and we’d all have fun on both sides :D.

But anyway, personally to me it’s about the lamest thing possible to camp someone who can’t do anything in return. I’d shrug if it happened to me, and go afk to make a coffee or log an alt, but I’d never do that to someone else. A few times seems fair on a pvp server, but continually… meh.

It’s one of those things where I feel people should ask themselves if they’d enjoy it if it was the other way around.

I think people have very far removed opinions of how a PvP server should be or how people should behave.

I stated in my earlier reply that there should be no limit and camping people into infinity is a thing that just happens on PvP servers… its signature behavior.

That said, i personally hate PvP with a passion and i am convinced that people who spend so much time making someone elses life miserable definitely have a screw loose. They literally relish the anguish they perceive their victims to go through.

I played Eve Online for a while and that is basically the equivalent of a WoW PvP server, with the added horror that you can even be attacked in your own “safe” region. Suffice it to say that i’m never going back there.

At least in WoW they are on seperate servers and so if you roll there you should assume the very worst in that everyone is out to get you from the second you log in.

I also think that PvP servers promote the idea of grouping up even more because there is strength in numbers AND it makes you level faster.

It’s just a different way of playing and requires a different mindset.

there is no griefing in pvp
if you get ganked its your own fault

I never gank or camp. But as far as I’m concerned if I’m playing on a pvp server and I’m ganked/camped for hours then it’s my own fault.

There is no limit. For the record never have I ever camped anyone.

I don’t gank because I am a white knight who only attack with justice and defend the ones in need,

but when I do gank it’s probably the best gank in the world.

(I’m a rogue btw, not pally)

Those who ganks the same players over and over are in genaral not so good players in pvp. They almost always are salty because they got ganked once because their skills didn’t allow them to win and they want to get even when they got the upper hand.

How often do you see a ganker attack players when there is a challenge involved?

As i see it, there’s a change in gaming culture since 2005 and vanilla WoW. Back in the old days people were generally more respectful towards other players even on PvP realms. Red names were not “must kills” unless you had something personal against them.

Today, PvP games like Fortnite and League of Legends have sculpted our behaviour towards players in opposing faction, and people now treat WoW as a huge MOBA map or a battle arena, where also some PvE can happen. The main reason to play is to kill players while leveling and gearing up just happens in a side. This used to be other way around, imo.

as much as the person likes. its perfectly legal to gank someone all day long until he logs out.

ooo another thread on the same subject.

The answer is “as many as you like”. That is the answer now and always has been since day one.

If you flag yourself for PVP by either choosing a pvp server, activating warmode or sticking your flag on you agree to all forms of pvp INCLUDING being ganked.

I agree actually, and I never cried it was unfair if it happened to me. You roll pvp, you’ll get ganked. It’s simple.

I didn’t mean ‘should’ so much in how I feel others should behave. More that it’s the only question that’ll usually shed some light on whether one is actively ruining someone else’s enjoyment or not. And if they do that consciously, well, goodluck with that but I’ll never understand that. I can’t picture anyone rubbing their hands in glee and saying: “I’m gonna be ganked and corpsecamped for the rest of the day, yay!” Neither those who it’s happening to, or those who create the situation :D.

In that sense I care about others having a good time too. Seems win win to me. The end result of being more ‘hardcore’ about this is usually very unbalanced realms. Long term that is a loss, even for those with a more ferocious mindset.
