How much do you pay to crafters?

I’m wondering how much do you tip and how much do you think the one should pay for the craft? I’m crafter myself and sometimes I see the comments like (500g tip/it’s one click, etc). If it’s one click then do it yourself? 2. Leveling profession isn’t free, farming knowledge isn’t free, talking to you before the order isn’t one click, sometimes it’s so time consuming and you are waiting just to hear “someone else crafted it”.

Just wondering the reasoning behind people being cheap and acting as they are entitled to free craftinf while WQ give you alone ~700g.

Time is money, you know…

Reminds me of some bad clients irl, who thinks the logo should be cheap because it took me 5 minutes, but it took me 10 years to make it in 5 minutes. Smh

I am prepared to pay between 6-10k per craft. If i /w for a price and it comes back as more than 10k i will go find another crafter.
I think thats fair depending on the item

When someone tips low with that excuse i just do that “1 click” and end up making a level 4 aspect item and they lose their mind.

As a crafter I always ask for 5k for guaranteed max quality (486 ilvl right now).
And very often people don’t answer me, so I assume they find lower prices.

Its not about being cheap or entitled, its about supply and demand, a product or service is only worth what the customer is willing to pay for it. Customers dont care if it took 20 years and cost millions of gold for you to get where you are today, thats not what they are paying for, they are paying for the service they need. Why would they pay you 2k for a service, if Joe Workingman next door does the same job for 500g? The entitlement here is the mindset that the customers owe you anything for your own investments.

There was a post in Reddit, majority of people said it’s free or 300-1000g… Especially if you don’t use mettle. But even to that level its a hard and expensive way (especially BS and engi)

Between 1500 and 2000 gold usually.

But to be fair, I rarely hire crafters for stuff. Most my gear comes from M+ and Vault.

Well, I never did the crafts that are cheaper than 5k. The people who provide those prices are just plain stupid and ruin the market. I personally, rather won’t have that 1k than craft for 1k. ( I have lots of gold so I don’t do it for money and it’s obviously plain disrespect to pay 1-2 WQ for a craft).

exactly 0 because i completly ignore crafting system this expansion .

That is really evil … but possibly appropriate in that situation.

I had someone recrafting some of my proff gear yesterday and they told me themselves they can do it with crap mats I will provide to rank 5 and they can do it even for free since its one click. Their words.

Btw, one of my professions is a crafting proff as well.

I ended up tipping them with 1k just because I wanted to. While I can understand your sentiment, I would like to present the following counterarguments to your reasoning:

One is not relevant to the other. The fact it is indeed one click isn’t correlated to the fact I cannot do it myself. Therefore, thai argument ends being moot.

I hear you, and I agree with you that leveling up a proff is time consuming. However, since most WQs don’t award even 1k (only elite ones with gold reward do), I would argue that being able to make that much money while sitting in the main hub at the push of a button after exchanging very few words is a worthy reward on itd own.

I mean normally you would need to farm 1000+ severite ores or go do that WQ which would take time just to go there and come back, let alone completing it.

Well, it’s not being cheap. Believe me when I say my monthly balance (in gold of course) would drop significantly if I gave 10k+ gold for each and every recraft I needed from a proff I don’t have. And I would argue the same rings true for many other players as well, since I farm regularly between BGs, Arenas and LFR and sell my goods on AH. A lot people don’t even bother with doing half the farmin I do. So in the end, I can safely I assume they simply don’t have the money you are asking for.

Also, I would like to point out no one is entitled to anything coming from other players, let alone crafting. So of course you can tell anyone go F themselves if they demand you craft something for free.

In simpler words, I agree that asking for a free craft is ridiculous but if I struggle financially with all the farming I do, I cannot imagine how everyone else has it.

Well, it didn’t took you 10 years to level up your proff didn’t it? Again, I understand your argument but the parallel is false. Comparing real life to WoW is not valid.

The reason you hear that might be because you asking for a big price while your competition has volunteered to do it at a tip. And this is what I would like to underline at this point…

Prices are formed by an emotionless cold market, NOT by your/mine feelings and opinions

And this is one of the few exceptions where you can apply that rule to both WoW and Real Life.

For example, I remember when people asked for 70k-90k for a rank 5 Lariat. This is because everyone and their mother wanted a Lariat so there was big demand, and the supply was limited because not anyone could craft, since its recipe is a rare drop (if I am not mistaken at least).

Most other crafted gear though? It was 1 to 2 thousand gold at best (maybe 5k if it was a weapon?). What can we do? Life is unfair…

5k-10k, you do not pay for them just clicking, you pay for the time they invested in leveling it up.

Think it’s a resonable price, I charge 5k myself.

Interesting, but why?

Supply and demand.
I got all crafted for 500-1000gold. Put in order and I received it after max 15 min.
If someone doing for that price, why I should pay more?

Why anyone would farm ore? Are you a bot? So you are basically very lazy and don’t want to watch a guide how to make gold, so you assume that paying 0 is good to people who are not lazy? There are so many ways to make gold… you can make gold with professions on AH as well. Btw, I can make more gold in valdrakken and orgimmar going buying items and selling cross realm. Or, crafting stuff for AH… So yes, I will not craft anything for anyone for 1k. It’s not even one click, since you need to talk to people first. Leveling BS is around 40k btw

I’m my own crafter.

Oh also, when I see someone in chat asking for Tailoring/Enchanting/JC services I offer my help for free “tips accepted”.

i don’t craft unless it’s really necessary because they want 15-20k fees on my realm and i find it too much

It depends on so many variables.

If it’s a max rank tier slot item (or sometimes a weapon), I’ll probably pay around 3-5k because the crafter has invested in an item that’s likely to be in lower demand rather than going for wrists/boots/belt.

Wrists/boots/belt/jewellery is usually 2k.

These amounts get halved if I’m placing a lot of orders with the same crafter.

I play 200g each for enchanted crests.

I’m in a big guild and get all my crafted items made by guildies. I also only craft FOR guildies, and they tip whatever they want to… but I only make a special effort to log in or interrupt what I’m doing for someone who tips in the range I listed above (what I consider to be reasonable).

So instead of taking whatever gold you are offered, you come on the forum to complain that people dont pay enough? Thats a solid business plan.

I’m not complaining, just wondering. I also rather sit on forum than talk to people who want a cheap craft and consume my energy  And yeah I’m not a slave to craft someone for free(or 1k…) same as I won’t make you 100usd logo irl.
I’m gold capped in game and I still do crafts for ok amount of gold.
