I’m a bit lost on the use of a tinker item. I’ve just crafted the “Arclight vital correction” tinker, but I can’t find a way to use it. I figured out I need a slot. but none of my gear has any slots, nor can I find a way to create one… what do I do?

It goes in tinker slot in engi crafted helms and wrists.
…so… we can’t build an extra slot on normal gear? It’s for engi-gear only?!
Yup. Its why engineering isnt rly seen to be that great.

I assume it’s a balancing thing, so we can’t have all tinkers at once or something, which would be a valid point, if the tinkers weren’t so underwhelming to begin with…

Even worse than that : while the bracers with a tinker slot do not need Engineering to be equiped (but the helm DOES require DF Engi 1 to be equiped), the tinkers have the tags “unique” and “DF engi 1” to be used … on top of having high failure rates unless you maxed out a specific branch of specilization AND used a specific finishing item to prevent tinker failures.
And they only give ONE Secondary Characteristic instead of the usual two (or three if you loot an item with a Tertiary Characteristic proc), while also eating a gem slot.
One bit of good news : they can be recraft up to iLVL 447 with the Enchanted Aspect Crests.
But I think that the “consummable tinkers” like the S.A.V.I.O.R., bombs and such, while needing much more materials to be crafted, are much better in terms of character optimization and performance.
And don’t get me started on the scopes that went from “decent” in Shadowlands to “random or almost unusable” in Dragonflight …
There are some gems in there though, with the wormholes generators, battle pets, ammo, that while they don’t do much, they still do something reliable !
