I know there is a lot of post about this but help me out. I was always and i think i will be always an altoholic. But the main reason is that i start to play with a class what i found fun and enjoy to play. And after i reach the max level i can’t enjoy anymore the game because people don’t invite me. Not even to low keys not about i wanna play +20 with a fresh lv 70. People ignore me because i don’t play the meta class or meta spec. They ask me to change my spec beacuse that is the meta right now. I dont’t want to change beacuse i know the spec i play and even if the other spec is meta beacuse i dont get used to it i will suck. Why is better to suck with a meta spec rather to play a well know spec and edited by moderator the keys instead of reaching max dps? I know i can start my own key but people still whisper me they join if i change my spec or i will get group if i start it with a meta class. I know i know there was and will be a meta in all season but please give a chance for a not meta spec/class and maybe it will be better then invite a meta class/spec with 0 lnowledge of playing it. Or much better disable the dmg meters and allow addons only where you can see your own dmg to improve yourself and get better. Then we who play for fun and enjoy dont get kicked out. Sad that people can’t enjoy the game and have fun.
I don’t run keys myself atm, but the most frequent advice to such problems that i see on this forum is to join one of the several non-meta mythic oriented communities and run with them.

I personally just avoid such content; that way meta nonsense doesn’t affect me.
But usually the best way to just be able to play how you want is to get a few friends. Either through a community or a guild or RL friends. That all works fine.
PUG gaming isn’t friendly and it never will be, because they’re all just strangers and have no reason to care about anyone but themselves (or the results, more accurately).
I don’t play meta. I just play this every season, every tier, every expansion. I don’t care about meta and I don’t care about pushing insanely high keys.
I do KSM and it’s become easier to do KSH. I play mostly with a friend and we pug together. Neither of us play desirable classes.
If you are struggling to find others to play with there are some nice communities out there who will run keys.
I for now have still no problem with getting into keys on my alt frost DK. I did 10 keys last week, now on 9 keys also already this week. My guardian druid, knowing it is a tank role but no meta, also has no problem in getting keys up to about +20.

pugs are pugs - you are just 1 of thousands namelsss facess - you are only worth as much as your score and gear.
put in effort and people will invite you very fast.

The reason there is no match-making tool for M+ is that the system is not really compatible with random pugs.
There are some good communities out there, Scared of Dungeons, Fail Train, Dungeon Dojo et al.
You don’t play with pugs, you play with friends/communities/a guild.

We’re supposed to follow some arbitrary rules to enjoy this game?!
I’m still trying to decide what tank to make.
Part of me wants to make one, which will be good in Season 4 and will push keys up too 25. But I don’t want it to be meta. Maybe make it my main for TWW.
I’m leaning towards leveling up a Protection Warrior.
But if meta ruins it for you, then it maybe time to find another game to play, which is single player. Meta/FOTM will always exist in online/multiplayer games, no matter the genre.

The reason people create and follows the meta is simply because it works.
In system where failing is punished, in a random environment you want your chance of success high as possible.

oh wait you likely wont see one because retail is not mdi and if you make such comp you will have wipefesta due to insufficient interupts
It is very depended on the keylevel, but since the OP is mentioning low keys, like even lower than +20, it is very possible other specs than meta will be of a higher success. Meta is overall just the highest keys doable by the professionals with all the coordination they can have, on voice. Pugs aren’t groups like that. So it can be easier when you get classes with tons of cc/interrupts/stops for example. Even when they are 5% lower of potential throughput.
But in general you just want people who know they spec on low keys. Meta isn’t a thing. Which is why arguably the worst dps in M+, like my frost mage has no problems getting into low keys (below +20).

No reason to become aggressive.
It used to be that you needed a guild to engage in high-end activities, Raiding or rated pvp. And casuals pugged.
Now you need a guild or community for casual / fun / friendly gameplay.
