How to farm gold nowadays?

Old legacy raids are fun and can be quite profitable

I find that my gold just increases by just selling the trash and doing normal activities like delves etc.

This depend a bit on how much endgame content like raiding and M+ you do. And i also do not really consider delves as normal content for my 637 ilvl resto shaman (or my 623 mistweaver, or 621 prot paladin).

Certainly, by avoiding content that has expenses like flasks, enchants etc, one can save a lot

Well, people do enjoy endgame content  And it is pretty expensive.

After so many repeats of that in every expansion, I soooooort of feel less fired up about getting back on that treadmill.
That first heroic clear felt great though

 It had nothing to do with tokens, did it?
They also increased transmog costs and repair bills, as well as reduced gold return from dungeons etc. I really think bots was the last thing on their mind.

Didnt deny that, its also possible.

It does, but not at a “fast” pace. Each delve run, for example, rewards me less than 300g if I don’t get a 2-hander drop from the chest in the end. That’s less than 1000g per hour for my clear times.

From the activities I partake, doing the gold-rewarding World Quests with WM enabled is the fastest gold earner. 2nd is auctioning all rank-3 Bismuth I mine, and 3rd is doing the weekly activities. Even clearing raids from older expansions does not get close to these. Sometimes I also do profession crafting orders that reward the Augment rune, as long as the material cost it asks is not high.

The most efficient way to make the best gold/hour is to work in RL 1 or 2 extra hours per week and buy tokens with that.

Where I like that is arround 1M to 1.5M gold per week if you were to spend it all on tokens.

You cant beat that.

One tip I some people are somehow unaware - sell things on AH - not on vendor. even if u get just 1 g extra after AH cut its still more than vendor and frankly most stuff sells with more profit.

I had been doing that, and it has cost me gold instead of making gold. Only items that collectors want sell for profit. The lvl80 Explorer/Adventurer BoEs barely sell at the AH even at 0 profit.

you are doing it wrong then, idk.

im selling everything i put on - just undercut.

oh and pick some big server for ur AH alt and sell there, i guess?

Isn’t the auction house unified region wide now ? Like same for everybody regardless of server ?

for stackable items yes- for green/blue/grey items, or some toys or recipes - nope.

that’s why you sell on biggest servers where actual buyers or flippers flock and you get profit on every item even if its “less” than theoretical one.

then you send your profits to your warbanks.

a lot of stuff is region wide, a lot of stuff is not.

First of all, thank you all for your responses. I didn’t expect such a reaction and so much advice. I’d like to address a few points because, of course, I’ve already tried almost everything mentioned here:

  • Delves: I try to farm, but spending 15 minutes on a delve only to end up with maybe 1 tinderbox (sometimes more), which costs 600-1000 gold, is super unprofitable. Although, I won’t deny that this is currently my biggest source of income thanks to exchanging Undercoins for bags.
  • @Babadonda 2x4 Skinning: I haven’t tried this yet. Don’t you need a high skinning level and rare tools for it?
  • AH Flipping: You really need knowledge for this, as well as prepared purchase lists, etc. It sounds good in YouTube videos, but for a beginner asking on a forum where to farm gold, it won’t work.
  • Gathering: I have Herbalism + Mining, but after an hour of flying around the map, I don’t even make 10k gold. I don’t even think my investment in crafting rare tools has paid off. There’s a lot of effort for minimal return.

Blizzard, in fighting bots, has completely killed farming opportunities for regular players, and they still haven’t managed to win the war against bots.

What I do is having an alt army and do stuff I find fun on them, I find LFR fun so I do that on all my alts, gives a couple of “K” per character, more so if you get lucky and get BoE/Pattern etc, then on vault day if there is an upgrade I get it, if not then I collect the tokens and turn them in for 3k gold, it all adds up with many characters.

Just gotta get used to being in queue most of the time (I play other games on second screen when in queue)

I tried gathering but fall asleep so fast… also so many druid bots, makes me sad.

Grab yourself a good handful of the profession potions alchemists make (I forget their name right now) that allows you to see the “camouflaged” nodes to almost double your yield from zones.

You go into your mothers handbag take out the credit card and buy as many wow tokens you can.

I’m earning passive gold here and there from weeklies, world quests, and sometimes from profession crafting orders where they provide a main stat rune.
To be honest, my real source of gold is the WoW Token because I don’t spend as much time in the game anymore. I’m more focused on work now, so spending €20 for a token isn’t a big deal for me. Making gold in WoW is tough for non-goblin players.:smiling_face_with_tear:
