Hi, I’m looking for a guide that lists all the places where you can get decent gear, something like 441 veteran 1/8.
I know about mythic keys, but that’s it. I noticed WoW now has several features from GW2, not just the flying, but the metamap events - and those I think also give good gear? It would be nice to have all the possible sources listed, explaining if there is a cooldown to using that source, etc.
Tried looking at Wowhead for a gearing guide, but it doesn’t list the sources, just gives a very narrow version of what they think you should do, and outdated at that, as I was told the nobody is doing the underground cavern anymore.
Pretty sure that superbloom yields 441 veteran, and blooming dream seeds (plant 5 seeds weekly), also weekly fill a rep bar.( emerald dream one, not the one in valdrakken)
That would be three weekly’s all of which are yielding 441.
Veteran 441 1/8 open world sources are superbloom and weekly spark quest.
Crafted non spark items with an enchanted whelp crest attached are 447 and cost nominal crafting materials to make.
Crafted spark items are 483 with aspects, 470 with wyrms and 457 with no additional material. You should have one full spark currently and one half spark.
The old world content rewards (Time rift, Assault, etc) have all been scaled to 428 and upgrade up to 450.
If I were to gear a fresh character right now I’d do superbloom and weekly dream wardens, see what I got, then do the two old things that give a deterministic item (Dreamsurge, Time Rift) then fill the rest of my items with crafting. I’d also craft a 457 weapon with spark crafting if I knew I wouldn’t get another for a while, otherwise I’d craft one of my BIS crafting slots with the appropriate embellishment if applicable.
Anniversary bosses drop ilvl 441 if you’re lucky, and you can loot them once a day as long as the event goes on. I got lucky and got 4 drops in the last 2 days. There are 4 of them overall, Doomwalker near the Caverns of Time, Kazzak in Blasted Lands, Azuregos in Azshara and one of the Dragons of Nightmare near one of the druid trees in either Duskwood, Ashenvale, Hinterlands or Feralas.
LFR also gives around 441 I believe, you can loot each boss once a week, and there is only one wing available right now, more wings will release over the next 2 weeks. Killing enough Amirdrassil bosses also unlocks weekly vault slots, although if you do m+ their vault slots will give higher ilvl than LFR, and you can only choose one item from the vault.
I cannot stress enough how good crafting is for gearing fresh characters / offering a springboard into current content. Every 15 whelp crests converts into a 447 item on any slot with whatever two stats you want. Rings even come with a free extra socket.
The Weekly Worthy Ally (1500 rep for Dream Wardens) and the Superbloom quest give good rewards.
I’ve done each twice on two characters. My Shaman got a 441 Mace, 441 Shield, 447 Neck and a 444 Staff (a bit meh since I got good mace and shield already). My Paladin got 441 Mace, 441 Chest and 441 Neck x2 (wish we had dup protection).
I also did the World Boss on both but to no avail.
I will do the Dreamsurge weekly earn 100 stuff for that currency, it only buys 428s but that can fill out the gaps.
Not tried the Emerald Bloom event yet, does that do gear too or is it only cosmetics?
I have a bit different problem - there is huge lack of Drake crests from world content.
If you are liek me and jumping stright into +11-13 then you get multiplex pieced of 2/4 or 3/4 champions gear and no Drake crests besides basic 10 from world Boss unless u run more then 8 m+ for gv ;/
Not good enough for better content with 440 gear , and CBA to farm low keys or more then 8 keys per char. guess im stick in this range for couple of weeks due to blizz idiotic decision to move gear higher
Plus side is i will have abundance od wyrm crests once i do move up to 14-16
Old wyrm crests were removed / reset. On the plus side you can now earn crests from types below if you’re already maxed out. EG running wyrm crest keys after capped on wyrms will award drakes.
I know but i dont find much value in just farming dungeons past 8 for gv. Rather do the 8 on my Guardian and vengence dh much better return on time investments especialy to build Basic score on them in week 1 and 2. i will do very liekly 24-32 dungeons this week on 4 chars anyway (just no Drake crests for me :p)
This season i will Play on much less alts so i will max out gear anyway at some point no hurry still have like 40 gammas to farm in wolk classic too
I find it just annoying that because gear for moved i coudlnt jump stright into 14-15
You get 3 veteran loot pieces from doing the superbloom, the wardens renown quest and plant 5 seeds quest.
Which is pretty good but, the you run out of flightstones fast when upgrading them.
It depends on what exactly you’re ready to do. Best gear, ofc, comes out from raid and m+, you could also do open world content, farm crests, etc etc and craft basic 447 items with enchanted whelpling’s dreaming crest, ~440 ilvl is enough for now to farm 10s keys which will provide you with 454 gear(upgrageable to 476) and 470 gear from weekly vault
I read somewhere that it should be possible to place a public craft order for these even if I don’t have the components. But it doesn’t seem to work, the crafting order panel just says I don’t have Spark of Dreams. And the Spark is not on AH either. So these crafted items, I can’t buy them and I can’t place an order to have them crafted? Maybe it’s easier to keep running through dungeon keys.
Spark of dreams is the bi weekly item to make the super strong crafted items which go as high as 483. You get this from a weekly quests in the new zone and it’s very easy to get. The crafted items I was speaking of are the ones people used to level their professions, they’ll show up as 330~ ilvl blues in the crafting menu but by applying the correct reagent in the crafting process go as high as 447.

Purchase a Nascent Whelpling’s Dreaming Crest for 30 whelpling crests
Convert it into an enchanted nascent whelpling’s dreaming crest through crafting orders (Materials are shown)
Scroll down on the armour / weapon section until you reach the blue 330-447 ilvl items, not the purple ones above.
In option reagents, insert the enchanted crest and it will bump the ilvl of the item up to at least 434, but more likely 447 given the relatively low crafting skill required to make the item.
The best way to use the crafting order system is to seek out individuals first through trade chat / just asking and use it as a substitution for trading them the materials instead of throwing orders out into the open market. You don’t need a particularly unique or difficult to obtain pattern so any maxed out enchanted / blacksmith will be able to help you out.
