How to get people to Roleplay in Ironforge?

Ironforge is an amazing place, but nobody actually roleplays there. I think this is because crowds attract crowds to Stormwind. We need ideas or reasons for people to come and stay in Ironforge. EG We need more guilds around there. (Trust me there is loads of space).

Anybody with and good ideas make sure to write them down in the comments.

Some ideas at the top of my head

  • Create public events
  • Bring visibility to these events (ie. stories, screenshots, newsitems)
  • Create intrigue; post about happenings outside the events that attract curiosity and interest, ie. storylines
  • Setting up a tavern, store or service there and advertising it in multiple places (ie. in-game, forums, Argent Archives, Discord groups)

When it comes to creating a hub it can take time for a snowball effect to form (‘crowds attract crowds’ like you said, people coming by outside events in pursuit of spontaneous rp)

Host more Senates, joint military drills for the Alliance military guilds and lead some Light-related (not that Titan religion headcanon rubbish) meetings or gatherings in the Mystic Ward.

By start spreading propaganda and kidnapping priest and paladin healers from Stormwind and put them in re-education camps.

On a serious note though. I’ve always wanted to RP in Ironforge but not had a proper reason to. I’ll have to drop by some time, poke my head in!

While “build it and they will come” is an oft-repeated saying, it does generally hold very true for roleplay. Set up events around Ironforge’s theme and it’s stories, advertise them to your friends, organise events that can specifically incorporate people who may not be familiar with Dwarf roleplay etc.

Manata has the right of it that at some point you get a snowball effect, if you’re persistent.

Does
Does this include stories made on the fly, with visual mediums in place? Like stories of Ironforge for things that may not have exactly happened, but are there in reality in order to gauge some interest for people to come along and make some Roleplay a reality?

I may have some ideas around that

I’m thinking do like in Brewfest, hold ram-races around the city, and indeed as manata said, try host events. I remember Loch Modan being emtpy af untill a guild set up shop there, and then people kept coming there untill that guild died off again.

By presenting an alternative to the worst of Stormwind RP.

People will come if they feel they are going to be free of the excessive worst of Stormwind. I.e egotistic noble rpers, powermad guard rpers, inept criminal rpers. Lynchings etc.

And if someone misbehaves, do like in Mahakam. Shove them in a barrel and toss them down the mountain!

Or kick them into the Great Forge.

Open events to the public would definitely help.

Encouraging guilds to set up there and in the surrounding area too would be handy.

Try to find some civilian role players to see about manning taverns and shops. Heck get some Blacksmiths working the great forge!

Try get a few military guilds to move there. Say the great forges now produce new weapons and equipment for those who move to the city in an attempt to build support for Ironforge’s budding industries.

In my mind it could be many things such as

  • Creating IC rumours and news about something happening in Ironforge to spark In Character reason for someone to go there (out of curiosity, to investigate, to offer help or take advantage of the situation)
  • Creating a storyline / plot that people can influence and be part of somehow. Ie “The Murder of . . .”, “Mystery Disease Spreading”. It would be up to the storyline creator how inclusive they wish to make the plot as a whole

Rumours combined with a storyline / plot can work well linked together + making reports, letters and In Character news related to it to spread awareness

You know, I just joined the Three Hammers with the intent on being a full-time Blacksmith. And a Dark Iron Blacksmith, no less! Also known as the best blacksmiths on Azeroth.

Though
Playing with my girlfriend at the moment so I can’t really do anything
 Sorry folks.

ALE lad!!!

Proclaim that Ironforge is anti-VElf. That’ll draw everyone there.
