- Enable cross-realm raiding
- Change raid lockouts to work like retail (optional step).
Done.
Done.
I don’t see it.
If cross-realm raiding is enabled that means that you can no longer trade with people from other servers, so no gold trading.
Moreover if raid lockouts would work like retail people won’t have the need to stick with the same group for all the bosses, and that’s a big reason why people join a GDKP.
If your group disbands you get saved for that lockout and you can no longer run it for the entire week, so people tend to join a GDKP cause it gives you a better chance that the entire raid gets cleared and that people don’t leave.
I mean, how many GDKPS do you see in retail? Zero, cause if you wipe at a boss and your group disbands you can just form another one.
GDKPs aren’t inherently a bad system. The issue is people buying gold with real money to use in GDKPs. The token just makes this worse.
A GDKP run with a group full of people who made their gold legitimately has a lot of positives.
Out of all dumb threads about GDKPs, this one is probably the worst.
Because it’s the only solution that would work?
No, because the only one that doesnt get rid of gdkp unlike the other clowns who want to get it banned by blizzard.
You dont see gdkp on retail because of personal loot, thats why they are selling the entire run instead. We have megaservers with huge populations, no one would invite people from other servers and gdkps would continue.
Blizzard devs have over and over expressed that they don’t think GDKPs harm the game, And that they themselves participate in them.
GDKP kills the PuG scene.
Yes but how many groups you see per day selling the entire run? It’s nowhere near the amount you see with classic.
You enable cross realm + flexible lockouts and GDKPs would stop being the most optimal way of gearing for random pugs.
You can even go further and allow master loot only for guilds runs.
People buy gold to run GDKPs, you do any of these changes and gold selling would stop being so spread as it is.
How would that stop GDKP?
Look at Era - which IS cross-realm: GDKP is active there already.
That doesn’t make any sense. At best you’d have SR pugs being crossrealm. All GDKPs would still be single realm. All you’re doing is forcing SR people to spend more time hopping groups, because they will leave as soon as their SR does not drop. Since SR raids are crossrealm, it would not be possible to blacklist such people anymore.
Your solution does nothing to GDKPs. Single realm GDKPs would still form, they would still stick together for the whole raid, and if someone leaves, that person would get blacklisted from all GDKPs on that realm.
You are essentially making GDKPs the only secure form of raiding, the very opposite of what you are claiming to be doing.
Retail has zero GDKPs because of personal loot, not because of crossrealm or raid lockouts.
ERA works differentely, you can trade with people from other realms because it’s a cluster and it works like you are all from the same realm.
You disable cross-realm trading (like retail) and people would no longer be able to run GDKPs with people from other realms, you then enable flexible lockouts and as I already said player mentality will start to change.
Not sure what it’s like on other realms but majority of raids on Earthshaker in LFG chat and group finder are pugs not GDKP’s. I took a look in group finder just now and there are 3 pugs and 1 GDKP.
On Firemaw there is like 15 GDKP for every SR PuG.
Surprising that servers differ that much.
Gdkps are only reason this game is still semi-alive and breathing.
Not many masochists left who want to deal with loot council scam or rolling against 15 people in SR runs, it’s simply more fun to uninstall this game than dealing with that negativity from raid every week.
As they introduced official pay2win with tokens, don’t worry gdkps aren’t going anywhere till end of classic.
Personal loot is long gone in retail lol, so where are those GDKP’s, then?
That says a lot about the state of wrath classic.
This is something most people doing SR runs don’t want to admit.
Most of the people who defend GDKPs are the ones who complain because they lost their roll against another DPS who did 100 less dmg than them, they also brag about being better than everyone else and always complain about why they must carry others or waste their time with others. This toxic behaviour is what is really killing Classic, it’s an MMO, not a single player game, wake up.
Then you wonder why WotLK servers are dying when you just keep gatekeeping new players, forcing them to pay in GDKPs in order to get gear.
