Go in dead zone (between melee and range), and kill him. He can’t do anything if you stay in dead zone. Be carefull to not be hit by melee because they have good melee damage to.
If he’s to far away and sting you, run away to find a safe spot where he has to commit in melee if he want to touch you (behind a pillar or a house).
If you can’t, you are screwed and you die. 40+ yard Hunter with aspect of cheetah, you are not gonna touch him if he’s max range.
The whole goal of Hunter is to fight at max range so they can do whatever they want with you. If they have open fields, nothing can really prevent them to kill you if they are prepared and pop with a surprise attack, especially if you pop 0 consumables.
Some items that make you run faster or charge are mandatory if you want to win. LIke for example, the Eng Rocket Helmet make you charge.
Also, you can use a potion that is called “Restorative Potion”, it’s going to dispell you all the sting and the trap for 30 seconds every 5 seconds. Free Action Potion are usefull to, but doesn’t really work well vs Hunter. Prefer speed and restorative unless you fight many people, then Free Action Potion is obviously the best.

There’s also the First Aid anti-poison, that work insanely well vs Rogue and … Hunter
. I let you search about it. Go farm some spider and make tons of them. It’s instant dispell on use, and it’s going to be mandatory in later raids especially if you play Alliance (AQ40).
I leveled to 51 in Dreadnaught on SOM release as Hunter for a fun week, and it was really a nice experience as Horde
. Lot of PvP, lot of 1vs2 situation where you can try to do some cool move.
