So from my viewpoint there is limited things that could be don’t to effectively stop cross faction collusion in regard to scarab mount. Banning a guild is just unrealistic, would impact innocent players etc.
Option 1:
Make it truly only one may rise. and remove the 10 hour timer so actually only 1 player can get this.
Option 2:
Remove the limitation to the mount and make it anybody completing the quest at any time could get it.
Option 3:
Utilise reports against those who colluded and simply remove that reward from the players.
Each of these have pro’s and cons. I think 1 or 2 would be best, it may be a bit late to do option 1, but option 2 would end the issue and can still be implemented
An elaboration of why these work:
1). This works because it forces a true competition, you will have real horde vs alliance races in most case as well as races amongst the top guilds. In addition you would have pvp like protecting the gong and races to clear BWL to complete it first. The best would stand tallest.
The main issue here is that this time has passed. So it would be very difficult or possibly very unfair to now implement.
2). This can in reality be added at any stage. On one hand it does cheapen the mount /title reward, but not that much more than it currently is already by the abuse. The quest chain in itself is still quite the accomplishment. It also means guilds would focus on opening the AQ event rather than stalling the quest to stack the maximum number of agreed mount rewards.
3). This solves the issue of punishing that who broke ToS but it also would for the most part remove any scarab lords from many pvp servers. I think this would be a big over-reaction. But it is there to be considered i guess.
Didn’t saw Blizzard banning for it before. If they don’t ban then it’s ok to do - wherever it’s ok with ToS or wherever ToS regulations aren’t called upon by Blizzard.
So you are saying just because someone does something wrong - and gets away with it - or has gotten away with it in the past, that it should forever be ok and not need review?
Consider any law / policy change / even game patch in almost anything ever.
The point is how to address an issue that is impacting the community, with 3 constructive options.
Would like to see your first option implemented as this would indeed create the environment we wished to see, however it would also be unfair on any who had tried to complete it fairly (by this point, I am not sure this is true for anyone but you never know).
Two seems like the most sensible option, I have no interest in the title or mount personally but it would be nice for those that do, who don’t belong to the elite 0.01% mafias.
I would like to see some kind of disciplinary action taken against the worst offenders. Most are just drones there upon orders of their guild so they don’t lose DKP / EPGP / item prioity. The organisers of these mafias and the ones creating the most toxic atmospheres… I would like to see them removed from the community, preferably permenantly but at least for a few weeks or months.
Also thanks for OP coming up with some reasonable ideas on how Blizzard could fix this dreadful mess. Of course, 99% chance they won’t lift a finger but… you know they did change Black Lotus which certainly took me by suprise.
Such a big brain comment that’s like me saying oh guys I found out how to duplicate epics but nobody has been banned before and TOS is vague so it must be okay to do it this goes against fundamentals and the spirit of the game
All options look valid to me. No rewards for cheaters. And to anyone yelling how everyone has a Thunderfury… No they don’t and Thunderfuty is not something that you can get for a limited time only and when you make a case for the bindings you are doing so with your guild only not the server.
That’s not equal to both faction guilds working together. You can kill other players without mass reporting them to achieve this goal. Mass reporting for war effort or scarab parts farming is a different case and clear abuse of Blizzard systems.
You realise you cannot pvp your own faction, and if you try to pvp the other mafia members - they have peopel from your faction, mind controlling them to heal them back back - so they’re getting protected by your faction too - and we cannot pvp our own faction. The only way to resolve it would be to do exactly as they do and collude which is totally against the world pvp spirit.
well a 4th option could be to just go with #first solution, but make the mount part of C’thuns droptable with an insane low drop rate, then it will still be possible to get the mount every 1 is craving, and it will fix this colluding thing, and more make it in to a propper war ^^ and ofc only 1 person get the title a title in classic is worth a lot after all
In original WoW, the Scarab Lord wasn’t used as a title, and that will be the case in WoW Classic. The ability for players to manage their titles came after original WoW.
Basically you can’t use the title in Classic. It’s just the mount and the announcement for now. Burning Crusade Classic, if it will ever be released, might make it possible although it also depends on how it’s released.
