On my desktop computer, based on an AMD Ryzen 7800X3D and Nvidia 3070 gfx card i got many frame spikes in raids on detail level 3 settings. This happened a couple of patches ago, so I doubt you can run this smoothly on a smaller laptop.
Ya… I can imagine that. This year I bought a videocard for my desktop PC… and the laptop I’m considering will be cheaper The question is … if it will run at low-mid settings, nothing special.
So… I bought the laptop… it turns out with Intel Celeron, 8GB Ram and Intel UHD 600, WoW Classic + WOTLK runs just fine.
It’s able to handle retail too, but on lower settings.
With those kinda specs and such low quality setting as 3 I’m willing to bet your issue is from too many/outdated addons hogging resources than it is your PC itself.
I don’t use many addons for the same reason, and those I have are fully updated. I don’t run with “Load out of date addons”, so although I cannot rule out the addon factor completely I believe the issue is elsewhere.
However, it could simply also be the 7800X3D not performing for this particular game - I’ve see an few other complaining as well. The odd thing is everything worked just fine until they added the patch with all the UI “updates”.
Possible I guess, but I have an i5-8600k, which is both less cores, WAY less threads than your CPU, yet it runs the game just fine when I disable all addons, yet I drop to like 40-50 FPS in raids during combat with addons.
Without it stays locked 60(because v-sync)
The engine is not 20 years old, but based on the Legion engine.
Comparing november 2004 (where addon wasnt a thing) to today is really not right.
Also, screen resolution is higher today than 19 years ago when game was launched.
