This thread can be summed up simply by the phrase, ‘‘FOR THE SCOU-HORDE!’’
I would follow sylvanas but I chose saurfang because the plot demands it and Zekhan of course. Don’t wanna see Zappy harmed.
Not many people fall for her lies, I suppose. But the plot forces them to obey anyway.
Blizzard’s HQ: “Muh Sylvanus! We all love you! We will force players to obey you!”.
Basically.
Kind of doubt it, they were ‘Surprised’ people liked Sylvanas so much!
It’s like they don’t realise that hyping one character up, while showing the other Horde leaders like a bunch of unlikable wilted plants with zero relatable value somehow doesn’t work out if you want to push one hyped character into the villain zone suddenly.
It’s Blizzard’s own failing here, and it’s not Sylvanas that’s the problem in this case, it’s the lack of the other written characters, it’s glaringly Obvious to me anyway.
I personally have no love nor care for the Troll. I just see it as an attempt from Blizzard to make me side with Saurfang “For the Children! Look at him, he’s so innocent and pure”.
That’s just me tho.
I don’t reckon that’s it. Apart from the fact that this Forum thread was an obvious Trolling (aheh) one, it fails on a few basic premises. There is no evidence that Zek’han is executed, this is all made up. Also Necroed, but entirely made up.
Zek’han Isn’t ‘Innocent and pure’, I mean he kills people in the Cinematic, and he knows how to twist the emotional knife “I Can’t! He’s Dead!”
He is however perhaps meant to represent the next generation of Horde, what comes after Sylvanas, the ones who grew up with the stories, the legends, of people like Saurfang, and yes, the player character.
Its a shame that the first new darkspear the’ve developped in years has to be dragged in this way.
They really introduced a new troll character that decided to side with someone actively working against the Horde and in cahoots with the troll enemies (including the ones that had imprisoned Talanji).
What can i say, i feel like his character is ‘tainted’ by all that plot. I’m very disappointed by it, i was really hyped for him with the Old Soldier cinematic.
This is debatable.
From my point of view, Sylvanas actively works against the Horde.
If two sides work against the Horde as you perceive it, what would you do?
No mischief there, it is sort of the situation I’m seeing myself into, so I’m genuinely curious about any answer I could get.
The situation is relatively simple to comprehend. Sylvanas’s world view only stands in the face of a basic premise that the Alliance is the ultimate evil on Azeroth against which all acts are justified.
Such a premise can not stand, ergo, Sylvanas is wrong. Saurfang speaks for the Horde.
I wish it was that simple.
However I do not share at all the blind faith that Saurfang has for honor. To be frank, I do not value honor at all, for reasons I could explain but I wouldn’t change my mind so I doubt it’s worth being debated. I do not want to have to get back to having to maintain honor if it means everyone die.
This is not the Horde I wish for. Not that what I wish for matters anyway.
And yet you’ve seen plenty of people that don’t give a single feck about “muh honor”.
But I guess they are wrong cause hey they are not part of the Horde. Oh wait.
There are other things beside honor in the picture. For instance, Saurfang remembers a Horde where the end justified the means. It did not end well back then, as backstabbing and treachery ate the Horde from within.
The answer above can serve for you too.
And if that will be the case, the Horde will handle it.
And The Horde has had so many iterations and variations that his view of “The Horde” is old. So his nostalgia and his honor can no longer apply as core values.
That’s why empires fall eventually. Because of people like him that are stuck and can no longer adapt. “His Horde” has changed. Going back to its roots won’t help and won’t make the Horde better.
I’m sure there must be a common ground between full Sith Empire and Full Honor. This is what I seek. I do not wish to see “my” people die in battle for nothing. Nor do I wish to burn every orphanage to prevent future Alliance.
The last time the Horde “handled it” during Wartime, the Orcish population of Draenor was reduced to several ships.
My claim is that Saurfang isn’t full honor. He is much more pragmatic then it seems. You need to paint the Alliance as some sort of merciless tyrannical antagonist for the “Saurfang is a traitor hurting the Horde” thesis to hold water.
At this point we’ve reached a juncture that becomes a matter of opinions.
But from my point of view, sparing enemy leaders is not to the Horde’s benefit. Wishing for enemy leaders to kill your forces and your Warchief is not to the Horde’s benefit. Personally killing Horde troops is not to the Horde’s benefit.
And all of it is harmful in a more direct way, than challenging the factions morals and taking them down a reprehensible moral path that still has their best interests as its goal.
Further, starting a civil war in the middle of this fight is going to get a lot of people in the Horde killed, and best case scenario, is going to reduce the Hordes capacity to function as a global power, and being honest, reduce them to second class Azerothian citizens for all intents and purposes.
The Alliance might do what it thinks is good for them (as long as Anduin has a say on the matter and reins the rest), but it’ll be dividing up resources by what benefits it first and foremost.
Even Vol’jin was willing to gamble on keeping Garrosh in check, rather than surrendering automatically the control to the Alliance. Saurfang doesn’t bother doing any of it.
And drags Zekhan into the mess, making a patsy out of him too.
She clearly does. However, I think the Issue most Horde players have, is not the fact that Saurfang is against Sylvanas, but rather the fact that he is working with the Alliance…
This I can sympathize with, since I absolutely hated it to the guts, when I was forced to work with Vol’Jin back in MoP…
I don’t want to work with the Horde. I want to slaughter them.
In which case maybe he should start using that axe with skulls and kill some Alliance members to make sure the war is not won by the enemy.
Complaining about “muh honor” so I can’t secure victories… He could’ve killed Malfurion. He hesitated for 10 minutes. He could’ve killed Anduin. He hesitated. And that’s when his character died completely.
The Horde can no longer trust him to get the job done.
And if we are to draw a parallel to real life military he would lose all his ranks in an instant and be trialed and he would spend his life in prison.
War is not for complaining like fools. You don’t like it don’t sign up for it. You don’t want to get messy? Than take a hike. Saurfang lost all its respect because of that.
Instead of bringing two enemy heads on the war table he brought “honor”. Guess the orc in the cinematic that got buried screaming alive and the troll with PTSD greatly respect his choices. After all they died with HONOR.
I personally think that people over-exaggerate the “working with the Alliance part”. Sure he was let out by Anduin but that is all that has been given. He has been given a choice to do whatever he wants to. It isn’t like Anduin gave him supplies, volunteers, resources in general and so on, just the option to do what he wants.
He barely even did anything beyond go to Swamp of Sorrows before Sylvanas hunted him down to either kill or capture (which is probably worse than getting killed tbh) him.
You are neglecting the fact that his military expertise allowed the Horde to start the war on such a good foot. Saurfang pushed through Ashenvale, not Sylvanas.
About Malfurion, I can agree. But about Anduin, hm. Even if we say he could have killed Anduin, he would have struck down the child of the man that allowed him to reclaim the corpse of his own dead son.
A son that gave his life on the forefront of an united Alliance-Horde front fighting a common enemy. Could you do it?
Yet Sylvanas did not lose all respect for lying to her troops and dragging the Horde into the meatgrinder which you are losing, come 8.1? Nathanos himself says that you need the Zandalari fleet to win even pre-Siege of Zuldazar.
