How will you guys feel if Cata classic becomes more popular than Wrath classic?

The classic community is infamous for the line “wow died with wrath”. So when cata launches and the server becomes more populated than wrath and more new and returning players and even retail players start playing cata and blizzard becomes forced to open more servers to accomodate the rising population, how will you guys feel? Will it hurt your feelings that you guys will be proven wrong that wotlk is a mediocre expansion at best?

Well, I personally dislike wrath outside of some class designs so it’d be more fun for me at least :dracthyr_shrug:

Wouldn’t mind it, I think the biggest issue that Cataclysm faced was the changing of the old world etc. Which is understandable, especially looking at how popular Classic (vanilla) still is. Although nowadays, even in SoD, a lot of retail ‘light’ has been implemented, which people aren’t realizing as much. I personally believe Cataclysm won’t be as popular as Wrath but it will be a lot better received than I’ve seen the Vanilla community talk about.

Plus it’s the expanion before MoP, which is imo a top 3 expansion for WoW.

Changing of the worlds does not matter at all when we are all lvl 80 already on 50 characters

Since I liked Cata the first time around and will play it again, I will feel great if it does well.

I don’t think it will though. Pretty much nobody I know will continue into Cata. They already quit WotLK months ago. Some seem to have quit for good, some are playing SoD at varying levels. To them Cata classic is just a meme.

And it’s a shame I think. Because the tainted reputation of Cata will most likely hurt my coming experience the second time around. Unless I manage to find a new fitting home somewhere, I will most likely just continue to play like I have been for the last months, playing some solo queue dungeon content through RDF and level alts.

I just hope blizzard learned some valueable lessons when cata is arriving. Such as faction balance (as close to 50/50 would be nice), more focus on the pvp side of the game, BANNING PVE ITEMS IN ARENA (like they did in tbc, and also discussed they would do in wotlk).
“Nobody” enjoys the season where pve items are dominant (except those who have said items)
Some of the firelands/ds trinkets are quite insane.

How they banned pve items on TBC ? Ive missed something ?Somehow i remember glave rogues. Iam against it anyway, as main rogue, pretty much only reason for me to farm legendary daggers, have fun on arena.

Thats pointless to think about.

How would you feel if gravity suddenly inverted?

It’s just not gonna happen.

how does it work? both factions do leveling up in the same quest hubs and rogues are absolutely OP, rogues are insane strong even without cds
you face a rogue after rogue and every rogue is a different rogue with fresh cds, this will kill any hope for 50/50 ratio

To be honest, only bad thing in CATA is the last raid. In my opinion, CATA as a whole is superior to WOTLK. It is one of few expansions where 30 specs are viable in arena. Raids are somewhat better than in previous expansions, open world is more engaging 5 man dungeons are crazy better. My opinion is that wow died with wotlk is not bcos of CATA, but a gaming comunity shifting towards other genres like MOBA.

With the game version that is called SoD there wont be a more than wrath populated cataclysm simply because sod will drive players away every 2 months. So no need to think about it.

I very much doubt Cata will be more popular than Wrath. Already a lot of people quit for good, some are in SoD like myself, raidlogging ICC+RS for 3 hours per week.
I will continue into Cata to see if it’s as disappointing as it was 15 years ago (I somehow feel I will like it more now as a boomer with 5 wives and 73 kids and 3 jobs).
But I think some heavy guild consolidation will have to take place. My conservative guess is maybe 1/3 to 1/4 of people who raided Naxx will be raiding BWD and Throne or what was the al’akir raid even called.

Would feel not a thing - would not even discover. Because I will be off play HC. Not coming to Cata even if I’m last person not playing.

Depends by the changes they make, I say they should add flex like they did in WoD instead of 10 and 25 mode and to remove that monstruosity that is the limited amount of combat ress that you can do in a raid boss fight (1 for 10 man and 3 for 25).

They banned some engineering stuff afaik, and 1 sword from scholomance (6 second silence on hit, which is quite brutal)

Yeah, it was quite a discussion about rogues even before glaives was “Introduced”. They became even stronger after they got glaives, but sadly blizz did nothing.

Yeah, alot of pvpers feel forced to do pve for some of the items. Some of the items are just so strong, that you cant afford to not go for it.

Most rogues i’ve faced while levelling, levels as combat, combat is extremely weak in pvp.
Besides, this isnt vanilla, rogues dont automatically win anymore simply for being a rogue.

How many rogues do you think is out there levelling? If you dont want to get ganked, thats completely fine, you can always go pve realms.
I chose a pvp server, because i WANT pvp, in all its flaws and glory. I’ve played this game since OG vanilla basically, i’ve gotten corpsecamped so many times… I still want pvp servers.

I want world pvp!

I don’t really like WotLK and very much dislike Cata for the world redesign (to many raiders it means little but for players like me who primarily enjoy questing and leveling in the open world it means everything)… But that been said, I am indifferent to what will happen to Cata C, since I have Era to play on. I really don’t care.

That been said, I believe that Cata C will have a pretty big player count at the start (smaller than WotLK), but will quickly dwindle - but I won’t be surprised if it maintains a stable, if small (but larger than Era), population throughout its lifespan.

Might do the same but I’ve played retail for so long (still do) that I have seen most of it by now. People like to bash on the revamped world and are correct in part (westfall became a joke) but most of the zones got better.

At this point we’ve had the post cata world more than thrice as long than we had the classic world, aka the cata revamp is as much ‘classic’ as the vanilla one.
While it’s not as much as an adventure, it sure plays a whole lot more smooth.

(The Booty Bay Invasion quest still holds up today imo)

The main thing that bothers me is that the current server situation is horrible. As I remember, Cataclysm had great raids (the first two tiers at least), great dungeon content (before the nerfs) and fun daily zones. However, what made the latter fun was the world pvp. Without other players there to pose a threat, these areas will just be boring grinding zones.

Something needs to be done, I feel. If they go on to Cataclysm without any changes to the servers, I don’t have high hopes for Cata. Maybe it will be yet another raid-log expansion, like Wrath. But even if it is, it won’t be worse than Wrath. Wrath had some awful raids and even more terrible dungeons.
