There’s many people with huge egos in PvP, far more than Mythic+ players. If you have an opinion on something that a higher rated player disagrees with, you just know he’s going to mention your rating. Without knowing any circumstances, and making assumptions, you will get trolled hard if you mention anything about PvP that someone with “higher” experience disagrees with.
Heck, even on the game after solo shuffle, you get random whispers saying “I’m 2.1k mate, L2P, you’re hardstuck at 1800”. Even get whispers from people with the same rating as me, insulting my rating, and claiming they’re 2.1k, even though their armory says otherwise, with a negative win loss ratio…
Point of this thread is, why keep bringing up ratings when someone has a disagreement, why bash people with lower rating than them, thinking you’re superior and gods gift at the game. It’s not something to really be proud of… I personally don’t care about high ratings. I just play to have fun with friends, and many other people do. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get a say in PvP circumstances. You don’t know them, you don’t know the full story or details. So stop with the ego belittling people/posts you don’t agree with.
I mean this isn’t really an issue and is reasonable depending on the circumstances. For example, in Shadowlands a lot of (low rated) players complained about Feral Druid and Convoke the Spirits, when in reality this wasn’t actually an issue and was only a low rated issue and extremely cheesey at ‘higher’ ratings.
In other words, if a ‘low rated’ player says something like ‘X is OP’ and a higher rated player disagrees with that and reasonably bases that on them being higher rated and more experienced, then I see nothing wrong with that? It’s called experience for a reason.
‘I’m better than you/more experienced than you so I know more than you’ - it’s literally as simple as that being their view.
You can get experience and not play at a higher rating. Just because some aren’t high (maybe from lack of trying), doesn’t mean they’re clueless on the subject. Which takes me to the assumption comment.
It’s toxic plain and simple. I see many on the forums rating bash at any given opportunity. I don’t know how you can’t see that as toxicity.
But your experience would be drastically different to somebody playing at a higher rating. Do you think a 1600 RMP plays the same as a 2600 one, for example? Your opinion of a 1600 RMP might be ‘well, that was an easy comp to face’, meanwhile a 2600 one will have you CC’d more than you aren’t (this is hyperbole, obviously) and will overall just be a miserable matchup.
What I’m saying is that as you get better at the game and the more you play against better players, you learn more and opinions on things that you developed at lower ratings change. You’re making it out like low rated players are sitting on a plethora of knowledge and experience, well…they’re clearly not, and forums in particular attest to that. There’s a very clear trend and correlation.
Well I’m sorry but this only just strengthens the point. If you aren’t high or you don’t try, then how likely do you think it is that you’re going to be correct about something over somebody that is high and does try?
Not really.
It’s a video game and a video game forum. Anybody that gets offended and upset over words about pixels needs to grow up and toughen up. The only ‘toxicity’ I see are irl d*ath wishes, doxxing, and other irl stuff which is completely unnecessary. Anything about this game should not be taken to heart.
Ive also been reading m+ forums who are trying to tell blizz to make +20 keys free for everyone without effort. Wanting to gatekeep the other players and make them boost them because “the timer dont exist” anymore etc.
Didnt you defend someone who did the exact same thing by saying nothing he said was toxic at all?
Report them and move on then. If you want to argue semantics now then I see no point in talking to you further, I’ve just gave you a few solid arguments. Toughen up and get over it.
Lmao yeah the entitlement of many WoW players is actually crazy.
I had an ‘argument’ with a solo world content player who has never won a ranked arena match in their entire life telling me that Gladiator mounts should always be available and that they ‘could beat me if they wanted to’.
15 years played. 0 ranked arena matches won. Make Gladiator mounts permanently available.
I do. I’m a decently rated player with quite a lot of experience. Some people say objectively incorrect things and there is a direct correlation to them being low rated and not having much proper experience to substantiate their arguments. Their complaints come from simply misplaying and not knowing how certain things work. This is a simple fact. It’s not toxic to say that objectively wrong statements and claims are rooted in not being very good at a video game.
Look at last season, where negative win rate 1400 rated Feral Druids were complaining that Feral was unplayable. What were the actual facts? It was the best performing melee in the game at the top end of the game. Myself and a couple other decently rated players were actually trying to HELP them and give them tips, what did we get in return? Dismissed and flamed, they were completely uninterested and more concerned with living in their factually incorrect echo chamber.
Yea I know, I just dont understand why ppl cant just understand that all they need to get these things is by improving themselves. It can take awhile but they can get there if they truly aim for it.
Instead its more of a “I dont want to” attitude or blaming “I dont have time” etc.
If you dont have the time that you feel you might need to improve, then dont ask for challenging rewards to be reduced just because you cant. >_>
Its not only WoW forums, I read MMO-champion forum and more. Its actually quite insane how some ppls mentality seems to be.
Some of the things they almost demanded in their arguments and if it wasnt followed through then everyone who denied it were called elitists + more. Trying to blame others for gatekeeping them.
Quite sure you defended Aly by saying what you could read from what hes been saying on the forum wasnt toxic. Hes been trashing me quite alot with my “rating” even if I dont rly care since its just funny.
Yeee nailed it p much. Thankfully Blizzard have doubled down on it and hopefully their position doesn’t change. I’m also super bored of the ‘well you can still farm Mythic mounts after the tier so why can’t we get Glad mounts’ argument…yeah, because whether you get the Mythic mount STILL depends on RNG, it is not the reward FOR killing the boss. The actual ‘equivalent’ was AOTC mounts that become unobtainable after the tier, but people somehow don’t get that…
That’s a different circumstance, because that “2600” player wasn’t toxic about it, and didn’t insult, but just disagreed. I’m not talking about those people.
Hmmm? You mean like in circumstances where I said it’s reasonable to?
People only ‘bash’ when it’s a pointless exercise to talk further and the player that is clearly in the wrong (generally the low rated player) is entrenched in their view and just wants other people to echo it. Have you ever tried talking to somebody who is factually wrong and refuses to accept it? Quite a frustrating experience
Which there were obvious reasons for even if you denied them by ignoring it. Every single time he could he tried to trash my rating. I got bored of it and just put him on perm ignore since it kept being a mantra even Rakar picked up.
You also have to understand that there are people who dont care about what you write even if you try to be as constructive as possible, explaining it in many ways possible to try to make them understand.
Yes, there are egoistic toxic ppl on the forum, in many different ways, but theres also insane amount of ppl who will deny any kind of feedback given because they “see no problems” themselves, only others.
Theres been quite a few examples just recently with ppl blaming other players instead of thinking maybe they are just not playing as good as they think they are. They get insulted by it and start spam defending with everything that dont even matter instead of trying to improve.
People get tired of trying eventually.
the unobtainable part after the tier is right, but man its easy to do. But its also supposed to be like that. Its roughly the same with 1800 rating (for alot of ppl atleast) in terms of difficulty.
Not entirely true, there are ppl bashing just to bash. Seen it quite a few times x)
But this also happens way too often. Trying to make someone understand but them refusing to even try to understand over and over is quite annoying and tiring lol.
True in a way, but there are ppl whos first thought is to “rating bash” instead of explaining. Or they rate bash and explain xD
But theres also people who live in a fantasy world, so what can you say… Theres a few of them we both have argued with.
This is a thing everywhere in life, not just the game. “Who are you to talk back to me, I am (insert whatever here)” has always been a thing
Which is fine and all but a big portion of people who play rated brackets do care about ratings, oftentimes it’s all that matters to most of people
It is what it is
in about 70% of the time people don’t understand why they lost a game, and they can’t gulp the ego to even consider they might’ve lost because of themselves
That being said, sometimes people get annoyed because their teammates don’t understand basics of the game or their own class.
Of course most of all of this arguement revolves around Solo Shuffle.
I personally get mad at healers a lot when I’m quing my semilower alt characters, I don’t harass or say anything toxic, I just ask people to use cds.
E.g my mistweaver is cocooning me when I have all cds and my teammate has nothing > teammate dies and vice versa. Greeding cds. Slow reactions. Lack of dispels.
Same when I play healer. People don’t seem to understand what the CD trade direction is. Which is generally the reason for losing games in arena
So don’t expect anything to change. When the game revolves around playing against other players, by losing you are directly hit in the ego as losing suggests you’re the worse player. Most people take it this way, and since they refuse to believe they aren’t the best, they blame someone else.
