Huge lag when I first open the game

Hello guys, first time posting here, I would really appreciate any help.

It is starting to get on my nerves and I have no idea what it could be.

The problem starts when I first turn on my PC and open wow, I find myself having to close and re open the game around 5-7 times before I can actually play it, every single time without fault. Sometimes I even have to disable then enable wi-fi, cross my fingers and hope I can connect without lag this time. (My usual ping when logging on is 2000 and a red bar)

What is extremely weird and confusing is that this happens every time I turn on my PC, or sometimes if I haven’t opened WOW for a while and re open it.

I could live with this problem up until recently where it is getting worse, now I’m actually getting huge lags once I start casting spells when my ping is 27.

On a side note, when these lags happen even my youtube videos stop loading, then I close the game and the videos continue to load as usual.

Things I’ve tried:

-Re installing wireless card driver

-Updating windows

-Limiting the number of addons I use and keep them updated

-Re installing wow/repair

My PC is new, got it around mid november. I did have a problem with the original wireless card I bought with it but they sent me a replacement that I have been using ever since.

It’s an asus pce-ac51 by the way.

Thanks in advance to anyone that helps me find a solution, it is driving me crazy!

Dissapointed a random character from retail has been used as my icon D:

Posting this comment to see if it has changed to the lock I’m rolling with in classic

(it has, I’m the OP)

Does it do it when you use a cable to the router? That will say if it’s the machine or the card.
In the settings for the card make sure your computer cannot turn it off to save power.

I’m afraid I dont really have the option to connect it to the router via cable, at least not from my bedroom. I guess I can try taking my tower down to the living room tomorrow and testing that out.

On a side note, every other device works well from my bedroom.

I just unchecked that option by the way and it’s still the same.

I think it’s probably either your PCs wireless connection speed dropping for some reason or some other program is using up your PCs wireless connection bandwidth, Maybe windows update?

As I stated I did already try updating windows. I use the resource monitor on task manager when it happens and wow is the thing using the most of my bandwidth

The only time mine gets to a high level is when I scan the AH with an addon.

You could try with no addons at all, that means moving your WTF, Interface and Cache folders somewhere then trying again, you can move them back afterwards.

I assume this is all on classic.

do you have an SSD? if not ,buy one

I had a similar issue with long load time and it was some addon that made huge files in the cache folder.

Check to see if it’s your cache folder that is to big! You can delete the whole folder, it will recreate itself when you log in. Or you can look in _ classic _/Cache/WDB/enUS and see if there are any big files, they should only be around 100KB or so, if they are bigger you can delete them.

Some other time I had some conflict between Luna and Healcomm and Clique (I think) and the game would crash whenever I joined a raid and also randomly. So disable all addons to make sure it’s not an addon that causing your problems.
