Given the current state of the game, what class would you suggest to level to efficiently farm gold? I know that both of those classes are frequently mentioned as a best farmers, but which one is the best or how should I choose one? I don’t particularly like either, but I guess, I’ll have to level one anyway.
I understand that DM farming is an important part of farming strategy and without DM opened it’s hard to predict whether it’ll be as viable as on private server, but any insights are appreciated.
Personally i went huntard.
But this all depends on what you will farm.
Soloing elites with great speed = huntard.
Anything with less then 4 mobs at once, smaller groups or single target = huntard.
Things that you cant slow or root then huntard again.
AoE for bigger groups or where you can get several smaller groups collected then mage is the obvious choice.
So this all depends on where and how you plan to farm and what kind of farming you would enjoy the most.
You can also just have a healer friend and go smacking crazy fury dps.
That is still a okey way to go.
My next leveling will be on warlock because for some reason i see myself running while tab+dot dot+tab+dot dot, rinse and repeate
Yes but there are 10 mages in raid and just one or two hunters. So as long as there aren´t 5 times more mages than hunters on a server, it still looks like rolling a mage gives you better chance to get into a raid. I know it´s sad, but still…
If you’re purely farming either would be a solid choice, perhaps even a warlock. From a playing perspective, hunter offers a lot of unique mechanics which make the class very interesting. Moreover, they have a detailed rotation, at least when compared to Frostbolt/fireball spam.
Of the two, my vote would be hunter but I may be slightly biased .
I agree. And I don´t like that either. Actually I had a really hard time deciding if I will be maining a mage or a hunter. I ended up making a mage. Not only because he scales better, but must importantly because they are wanted in raids. I agree - gearing hunter will be extremelly easy if you are lucky enough to be the primary hunter in your guild and have basically zero competition. I am a casual player so I don´t really think I could ever be at such position in any guild. So it´s still better being averagelly geared raiding mage than hunter sitting in SW begging for inv.
Frostbolt spam would just put me off raiding with a mage, despite them being able to pull a ton of damage. I always enjoy having a mage in my 5 mans, though.
I agree and I have to admit that every now and then I wish I have chosen hunter instead. I believe it would have been a little bit more fun (and less mana dependant lol). But mage is ok as well and shatter combo is fun so I will stick to him for now.
As I already said, solo tribute runs is by far the best tactics. Should not differ much from private servers since pathing is just the same: you jump and mobs walk around.
For now, without DM, scarlet runs are also hunter friendly
Is there information about DM farming in vanilla? Was it doable? I’m asking, because all of those things are depending on mobs agro radius, routes and those were not authentic on private servers, so it’s possible that it won’t work in Classic, at least that’s my concern.
Unsure about DM farming in Vanilla. Its also a long way off, to be released around phase 4 or 5 I think. Your best bet would be to farm Maraudan (if you choose hunter that is) over SM, higher gold per hour and less horde to contend with.
DM is phase 2. And it was farmable in vanilla. Female troll/dwarf is prolly the best race/gender due to small hitbox. Also you can use noggenfogger and invis potions to avoid aggro range. Hunters again benefit from pet sacrifice and FD. Actually tribute run can be soloed by any range class, but only hunter can do it in 6 minutes.
The only way they can fix it is to change pathing so that you can’t solo kite the king.
