I am furious

It is entirely possible, and with all due respect, I feel that your opinion is at best superficially informed.

Depression in a clinical sense is not “Oh, I feel bad, life hates me”, but more often than not has causes rooted in childhood that the patient is themself not even aware of and or believes they have moved past, to the point where it can become or accompany a C-PTSD, which is when the disorder becomes so deeply woven into the patient`s personality that even the best therapists cannot clearly define where the personality ends and the depressive /traumatic symptoms start. And it can co completely unchecked for easily a 1/4 century or more, and then something unexpected happens in life, and all of a sudden nothing is worth any effort anymore and things that worked fine for the longest time are dropped like hot potatoes, because in the end they were always just a facade which there is no longer any point in maintaining.

Robin Williams would be a reasonably good example of just how well it can be hidden… famous, funny, always in a good mood, had everything to live for… and no longer walks among us.

At it’s most radical core, this is what most forms of depression therapy are, yes. But as a general rule it is much easier said by therapists or people wanting to help than actually done the people that require it, especially when those people have been slaving away their entire lives and have nothing to show for it, so they can´t just decide to move to a place that makes them happy, or adopt a dog, or simply make healthier lifestyle choices, because they more often than not do not have the luxury of making those choices, which can itself be or become another contributing factor. When you´re already down, not being able to make the “simple” changes that you too believe would be helpful, simply because they could potentially endanger your literal survival and /or that of others who´s care you are tasked with has a strong potential to make you even less willing to try and get back up because it´s just another exercise in futility.

You’re wrong here again. Boxing actually worsens rounded shoulders. Kyphotic posture is very common amongst fighters and people who sit behind a desk all the time.

The irony of calling others being wrong after comments like these, but as its pretty obvious what you are and what you are trying Ill stop speaking with you here :joy:

For anyone else that is not a troll or is interested, hitting a bag actually loosens your upper back and tensions and not to mention other health benefits and is something which can be adviced by physios for office workers. I would certainly advice it over “getting hit” :joy:

Good because you’re embarrassing yourself.

If he would move away from hollywood and start living in some village in the middle of nowhere, he would still be walking rn.

Please, for the love of humanity, do not ever aspire to become anyone´s psychotherapist. The world is not black and white, and the simplest solutions are sometimes the hardest to actually implement.

I were just thinking that making fun of someones death is pretty extreme even from the likes of trolls. Im not the one to shun from clever bantering but this one is just bad and became boring quickly :man_facepalming:

It´s obviously not worth further engaging with you on this, as you clearly do not even understand teh difference between a psychotherapist and a psychiatrist. Your intentions may in fact be good, but you are so woefully underinformed in this subject matter that I might as well be explaining it to my dog. :beers:

Fun Fact: This is exactly why most people suffering from acute depression, regardless of severity, will generally shun their firiends and family… they mean well, and tehy still love them, but the just don´t have the slightest clue what they´re actually takling about and engaging with their lack of knowledge and understanding will generally cause more damage than anything else. Because the very people that should be supporting you then inadvertently make themselves part of the problem with their armchair psychology.

Perhaps you’re just bad at explaining things?

Or perhaps you simply lack the will to actually understand it as well as the base knowledge required to do so, because you´re too busy trying to be “right” instead of trying to learn. We will never know, see you in 3025.

Because at the end of the day, this is not a post-graduate course in clinical psychiatry, it is an internet discussion forum. If you truly want to start to understand the complex interactions instead of just trolling, I recommend you sign up for a few hundred hours of actual instruction at your local college/university, instead of simply parading your ignorance of the subject matter and then accusing others of not teaching you properly.

I dont understand. No one is entitled to skip a boss. If they want to kill the boss, then you follow them, not the otherway around.

PS: Bosses are there to be killed. Just kill them.

The irony of someone saying others being “bad at explaining things” after they self just said something like “if you are depressed just stop being depressed” or adviced others to go to a boxing gym and “just get hit” instead of what were suggested and hitting a bag.

Good old armchair therapists with a degree from University of Google. The worst possible people to listen to for anyone with actual problems.

Exactly! Take some accountability for your misery, instead of trying to make yourself the victim with an incurable “disease”
