The modern WoW community has made it a habit to label absolutely any hostile interaction as griefing, even though two warring factions are the very premise of this game, and the title reads WARcraft.
This is blatantly obvious when you read these forums: PvP on PvP servers is labeled griefing, the kiting of dangerous monsters into cities is labeled griefing, stopping your own faction from colluding with the enemy to reset world buffs is labeled griefing and not partaking in the made up rules of a hardcore community is labeled griefing.
Well i have never been griefed in this game before.
Thats not to say people didnt try to keep me down. I have literally been hunted when leveling more than most: when i created a horde character on my 2019 Classic server, a large chunk of the Alliance faction that i formerly played on came to chase me day and night but i never once thought that its griefing or that i should report anybody.
I was forced to change my leveling routes, skipped quests in certain areas and sometimes relied sorely on the horde to help me through.
In the end i had the most unique leveling experience, a fantastic time and found amazing friends along the way. Here are two screenshots that showcase said scenario: ´https://imgur.com/a/cyTib7F´
Once you learn to appreciate player freedom and make use of the social aspects of this game, youll realize that griefing isnt a real thing and youll have a much better time playing.
People wanted Classic. Classic has alot of player freedom. Players are not obliged to bend to whatever playstyles you consider correct.
When i throw a player off a boat with mind control, i have a wonderful time. At his expense? Sure, but hes an alliance dog so who cares.
I can see how you feel that way but I have to respectfully disagree with you, Upright.
I (personally) feel that ganking and killing players of the opposing faction is more than ok, but that there’s a is difference in going out of your way to obliterate someone’s way to play and have fun, and a bit of pvp.
For example to add someone on your friend list to see where he is 24/7 and kill that person every time he comes online. This to me is 100% griefing and I’ve seen people quitting or paying money to transfer off the server just to escape. Constantly making alts and whispering insults, harassing guild members and when ignored the person would just switch to another account.
I even saw a case where the griefer would join his target’s guild on an alt just to make it easier for him, while doing all of the above.
No matter the rules, allowed or not, I just feel that playing just for the sake of ruining the fun of others is bad taste, like the above example. But like I said, this is my personal opinion
I agree that this should get people banned. This has nothing to do with normal gameplay or PvP. Alot of people i gank create a level 1 character on my faction to whisper me. Thats completely unacceptable since our factions are not supposed to communicate. Even these addons that allow people to write things that the opposing faction can read should totally be shut down if you ask me.
As for ganking, no, any amount is and should be fine. Players should choose the amount.
Thankfully weve got confirmation on that:
“In general, PVP on PVP servers is allowed in all forms. Nothing will happen to you if you are simply killing low level players, they would be expected to find a solution like getting high level players come fight back ETC. As long as you are not using any exploitative means you should be fine.”
Good post, people are crying a lot these days. Anything that halts their PvE progress means griefing in their eyes. This is why these players should play on pve servers from the start.
You do this more than anyone in game?? Even inviting people to parties on your Horde to find where they are, logging instantly onto a max level Alliance on another account to kill them on the same server?? Just lying to make yourself look better on the forums.
Its funny ppl complain about griefing, when you cc someone is pvp when they cc you its griefing… yet they choose to be griefed by rolling on a tard-free pvp realm, if you dont like it and you believe that world-pvp is anti-progressive and timewasting and is only dragging you behind your playtime, roll pve… thats what i did after i have ranked anyway, which i found silly because to begin with i could have ranked in pve as well anyway XD
