I can't meet a friend on same realm?

I have been trying to tame Echeyakee in the Barrens. My flatmate on same realm plays Horde. He has the quest. I ran my alliance hunter to the spot. IRL we are in same apartment and I can see that he is at the spot but I can’t see him and he can’t see me.

What causes this and can it be worked around? Help please.

He was asigned a diffreint layer then you once he was logged in the game.Since you are a diffreint faction sadly it cant be worked around.

Now i am not sure how friquent layers are changed. Is it with the daily reset,8h since you last time played.Or are they simply once you log in creat a char, untill they reduced the layers, you wount see people from diffreint ones. Not sure about those details.

Good morning,

The reason you can’t see your friend is because you guys are in two different layers. The work around would be party up but unfortunately you guys are playing opposite fractions.

Hmm - the toon was created to summon the lion so I suppose we cna leave him there and try every 8 hours.

Is there no other way though?

Try logging in at the same time.

We did - many times ;-(

Maybe get a random horde player that you can see on your own layer to invite your friend? Your friend can whisper them for an invite? Idk maybe it will work

I tried that but the timing went wrong a few times as the respawn rate for lionesses there is just amazing. And he got ganked - servers him right

Yes. Look around for any Alliance players in the area, note their name and tell your roomie to ask whisper that person to invite them to their party. They’ll phase into the layer of the party leader.

You’ll be able to join the same layer that way.

Layers will be turned off in the next few weeks. Blizz stated it’s just for launch to try manage the population so there isn’t hundreds of people in the same areas at the same time. They’ve had to readjust the population of layers numerous times. When the game first launched there was about 100+ people in Teldressel. x)

That worked! Thanks!

Yes i am quite aware of those things. But given how they now incressed the layers, probably from 9k to 15k possibly. Its now questionable if they will be possible to turn them off.You have now 15k accounts on a realm that is suppoes to be “vanila like 3k population”
In all honestly i dont even mind layering.I barrely noticed it.If i wasnt on the forums and people point out some of there experience.

If you are on Zandalar Tribe, I remeber seeing you that night

I notice the layering. Sometimes you’re in a low pop layer, other times you’re in a high pop layer. Low pop layers blow. High pop layers also blow because there’s too many people around. It’s cool at the beginning but when you reach areas like Duskwood you don’t exactly want to see 50 people swarming every graveyard waiting for mobs to respawn. Ruins the atmosphere so it’s understandable for the layers in those scenarios. In low pop layers you just feel as if the game is dead.

They never said it was supposed to be a 3k pop cap per server like vanilla. They said with todays technology they can cater to a far larger group of players and then intend to due to overcoming those technical limitations and they intend to do that after the initial wave of players get their fill and stop wanting to log in every day in all their free time.

The only reason for layering is because the population is concentrated in very few areas at the starting point. 90% of players right now are level 10-20 which is about 10% of the entire game world so they kind of need it. Once that concentration of players is dispersed across the entire game world there’ll be no need to layer. At the end of the day the servers are dealing with the volume of players they’re properly able to deal with, it’s just they’re instancing out zones to try and spread out the population so everyone can do quests and not feel as if there’s always 100 people on top of them.

They’ll turn it off after the first month for sure. They won’t keep layering in effect.

The point of high/dense areas is to push you into making friends, group up,and not to lone wolf the game. And i know what you mean, but a simple “inv guys”,“any group” fixes that.

No they actually said and confirmed the 3k population cap,in any vod with Brian Birmighan and other devs about it.The goal is to go for the 3k capp.Just that the tech they designed will help them out with the inital rush/influx of players.

But given how well recived is classic. And how mutch they had to incress the realms and layer capacity, turning it off for phase 2 makes it that more difficult.I still have friends who will join in later on to the game, and this weekend is going to me a log in nightmare.More power to it…
