I can't stop making new characters

Hi, I know this is irrelevant but I’m a new player, never played Retail, never played vanilla. This game to me is fascinating, everything about it, always has, I used to watch videos of it when I know nothing of it. I’ll get to the point: I can’t stop making new characters. I wanna enjoy classic, I feel like I will never get to endgame content because I don’t stop making new characters, I feel like classic will “die” and I’ll miss out on it. Is there an actual way to stop making new characters or do I need to slap myself and say “Right, make one, and stick with it”

Classic won’t die. This is the official, Blizzard-sanctioned WoW classic. Vanilla WoW has survived for over 15 years. It’s still got X amount of years in it and Classic isn’t going anywhere. It’ll likely be another 2-3 years until the final phase is out even, and then it’s just begun.

Just play what is the most fun for you. After you get high enough with levels, it gets much slower and harder to keep leveling. So, at that point you will just end up doing stuff on your ‘main’ naturally. Just because you already spent alot of time on it.

I did this for an entire year back in 2007. I tried all classes to level 20 everytime I saw some other class do a cool ability I instantly wanted to reroll that class.

Just do your thing m8, eventually u will level one of your characters to 60.

And don’t worry, u wont miss out!

Thanks guys. I will try to stop rolling a class/race everytime I see someone that looks cooler and try to stick with one.

Why do you want to stick with one if you want to create many? Listen to your heart mon…

Don’t let anybody decide how you must play the game. If you have the most fun making 20 different characters, do so.

Indeed but I also wanna see the real WoW, the end game and stuff): I suppose you’re right mon

it’s definitely totally up to you. which one of your characters did you have the most fun levelling as? phase 2 is a savage time to level, make sure you’re in a nice guild with plenty of people to help you level. i can’t recommend approaching endgame enough as its excellent (aside from the lack of difficulty in raids thanks to a bunch of reasons)

we’ve all suffered from the horrors of altoholism…

I guess, hunter. But then I also want a warrior to look good. I hate the fact that trolls don’t wear boots, maybe that’s what’s stopping me from continuing my hunter ahah

There’s no one specific way to play the game. A problem many (myself included) struggle with is feeling like we’re being left behind if we do something else - be it alting or otherwise. I stress constantly about everything - I’ve remade my 3rd alt (mage) 4 times now at lv20+ each time because I know gnomes have a slight advantage due to their racials but I really love the human female casting animations.

What I have to do a lot is just stop and realise that as long as I’m enjoying myself my sub is well spent. So keep doing whatever you want to do - the game isn’t going anywhere and “catching up” won’t be difficult for a loooong time yet.

Classic wont die anytime soon, just take your time and play the way you want.

It’s totally okay to make new characters if you feel like it, Classic will run for at least 4 more years (pservers were and still around after a lot of years aswell and those are not even near this good as Classic).

Try out many races, classes and have fun, this is a RPG (role playing game) and the Endgame is not the full game at all that is only a small part of it!

I’m sure you will make it to endgame in your own pace and that is the normal thing to do, not trying to play “catch up” with dumb ppl who play by “leveling guides” and META class talent builds! They miss out on so much!

Yea! It’s called Character Cap! Unless you delete old ones you’ll hit the cap!

I remember when I started playing MMO’s back in 2005. WoW was the first MMO I’ve played after seeing friends play the game.

Back then stuff like classes, specs etc. were completely new to me. So like you I’ve ended up with many characters.

My friends played Paladin, so that was my first character as well. Followed quickly by a Priest, cause those glowing healy hands did appeal to me.

Only managed to get my Paladin to 60 back then (after about 6 months). Then I took a break from the game and my account got hacked. Bye bye stuff and the password got changed. So I couldn’t get back in anymore.

Eventually got a new account, this time with an authenticator attached to it, and to this day it’s still safe and sound  Started over and took long breaks in between as well, as Retail doesn’t really stick with me.

Now with Classic I feel back at home. Ended up with a total of 3 classes (42 Paladin, 33 Druid and 32 Warlock). And I’m dividing my time between them  Don’t really have a main, cause I like all 3 classes  Paladin from back in Vanilla. Druid and Warlock I didn’t really try till Cataclysm, so the Classic versions are new to me as well.

Very long story short
Play the game how you feel like it. I’ve always did it that way

Nah don’t worry about it, happens to us all.
Took me two characters to 40 before I found the class that I enjoyed playing, I would try other classes but i’ve wasted so much leveling time that I just want to get my S priest to 60, grind out my BiS gear (plus Classic is the most alt-unfriendly version of WoW next to BFA).

But Classic ain’t gonna die (at least not for a good long while) so you have all the time in the world to level the character you want.

I’ll definitely try and find a main.

I think that’s my main problem, feeling like I’ll stop playing and then have no way to catch up!

just enjoy it bro. do what you want to do mate remember its a game.

too many rush to 60 then its boring cause there is nothing to do. The real treasure of classic wow is in the leveling experience. Just wait till you can do low level battlegrounds and farm new gear from pvp, u will love it

A good way to stick to a class is to pick one not based on certain abilities or features, but on general playstyle and class fantasy, and then look at classes in a “us vs them” way. So some other class has a cool ability - then you think “ok, how do I counter that ability with my class” or think of a way to achieve similar results and focus on your classes strengths instead.
