The very idea for Classic is that you didn’t have to choose, making the clone cost even more than what the game originally was is pure bull fertilizer. If they relaly wanted to monetize it it should have been around 10-15€.
The very idea of Classic didn´t even count with TBC at the beginning.
It isn´t you - customer, who should be saying how much and what should cost. Sorry to tell ya. You just want another character for free, thats it. You leveled up 1 character, not 2.

I as a customer am not willing to pay an already made product more than when it was new, a small tip in order to say “thank you” to the ppl working on it is fine, paying more than its original cost is a show of how trash tier Blizzard has become.
If you can’t get this you are just a whale ready to spend whatever on whatever because there is the Blizzard mark on it. And it’s this kind of. Behavior that turned triple A games into trashfests.
Your “tip” won’t pay extra servers they need to maintain

Ye it does, current servers. But they need to increase the number of servers = more expenses.
Which they get from ppl (like me) coming back for Classic only.
No they won´t. Classic playerbase is basically the same more or less. But they need to increase number of Classic servers.
