So I think it’s not only confusing and uncomfortable to use, I also think its a crutch and from the little experience i have with vuhdo and healbot, it pretty much makes healing easy mode and non challenging versus having to be quick with clicking and spells using the default raid frames.
is there anyone who does not use healing addons (other than decursive) and still are very successful end game? I dont want to go to 50 with a healer mentality just for a group of teenage guild or pug raids to cry because they want healer addons.
It’s about doing the job. I don’t think anyone cares about the tools you use, its about the result.
The challenge in healing isn’t negated by using tools. The challenge in healing is smart decision making at critical times.

Most healers I know dont use them, mainly mouse over macros.

yeah same, for me its new players to healing that use those addons.

bind your party targets to your mousewheel for dungeons.
for raids you literally don’t even need a brain because it’s easy enough to heal

Mouseovers are the easiest way to heal without an addon imo.

I use mouseovers and healbot for customizable frames, i’m a weirdo and use the healing frames on the left side of the screen instead of the usual lower-middle part of the screen.
When i first started using healbot i was also uncomfortable, but once i learned to use the addon and customize it to my needs and taste i can’t live without it.

Lol I have never used a healing addon. It seems like… cheating, to me. Fine to do everything without addons. I mean sure DBM is useful but eventually I just learnt to pay attention.
use a mouseover macro;
“/cast [@mouseover,help,exists] Flash of Light”
it does mean u have to press your keyboard buttons instead of clicking the iicons but you shouldn’t be clicking icons anyway, bad habit

If you keep people alive nobody will care about the addons you have or have not installed.
The question about you using a healing addon will arise only if you start letting people die repeatedly.
If I can make my healing more efficient, then my raid/dungeon mates are happier so it’s win-win for everyone. It’s just tool xD Do you call using screwdriver a cheating?

never used one and I run about 8 healers
1 addon and a gaming mouse with buttons.
Clique - you can mouse over raid frame of player and cast heals/shields very basic but so effective
Means no more clicking raid frame, then moving off to cast.
Simple gaming mouse such as a Logitech G300
And throw in a couple of macros and your healing will be efficient
I don’t use any healing addons.
I only use mouseover macros and target of target macros (for my disc)
edit: and don’t forget keybinds
The only difference from mouseover macros is that it’s a 3rd party addon, and there’s a possibility of it breaking with a new patch(for instance raid opening).
In-game default raid frames is like an addon.
You still have to do the work.
I don’t see the difference really.
didnt use any heal addons for a long time and now i do. each to their own i guess. 
as long as you feel comfortable and the results are good, it doesnt matter how you achieved it.
