I feel bad for anyone who hits level 80 these day

Hello;
I decided to level this paladin this past month or so and I finally hit 80 a few days ago, I had about 30k gold saved across my mains so i decided to spend afew golds on this alt.

I got my engineering to 440 for the Helm And leveled my enchanting to get the ring enchants.
I did alot of quests in Storm Peaks and Ice Crown to get a Neck and Libram using Emblems of Heroism.
I crafted the TOGC 245 item level Chest and Bracers.
Got myself the Mace and trinkets from Direbrew boss and bought DMC Greatness.
Crafted the Ulduar belt and boots and bought some blacksmithing Shield/shoulder./gloves and legs to fill those spots
I also used some BOE rings i’ve had on an alt that never sold

Now my character looks like this
https://eightyupgrades.com/set/9PkuUHSjbWHpxm4JEbQnDP

This was the absolute best set i could come up with costing me almost 15k gold, There were afew better BOEs like the Ulduar 232 shield and the TOGC 245 ring but those two cost 5k each which would be insane thing to do so i decided to skip them.

Now my problem is that after all that I’m only sitting at 4.1kgs and there is zero content for me to do and no one wants to join normal Heroic dungeons or Tier 7 raids…
EVERYTHING IS A GDKP or 5KGS+
I’m here in Dalaran for 2 days spamming trade chat and the Group Finder to form my own group but there’s just no one, Like i’m the only person who is a “fresh” 80 on my realm, feeling like an idiot for wasting my time leveling this character…

What is the solution to this problem? Is it just buy token and get gold to do GDKPs? Or am i missing something? How are you guys gearing characters without spending money on gold and doing GDKPs?

The solution is to join a guild.

You don’t need to buy gold or partake in God-awful GDKP runs, simply find an appropriate guild.

I already raid in 2 Different guilds, I’m not gonna join a 3rd.
Besides I can’t imagine any guild would want such a low geared paladin especially a tank one afew weeks before the biggest raid release…

So non of your guilds do any alt runs? Sure you wont really be able to actually tank ToGC 25 HC at that ilvl but you would be able to do it on normal or with some off pieces that you might have you should be able to be carried as a dps a few runs in 10 man hc on a alt run until you get some more gear.

If you’re already raiding then surely the solution is to simply to slow down and wait until you get better loot? It will come.

Sounds like you’re trying to speed things up by attempting to join PuG raids in the meantime.

If your guilds are sensible they’ll understand you’re trying to gear up a tank, be sympathetic and allow you to participate as DPS but roll on some offspec tank gear (as long as the main tanks don’t need it), after all you can never have too many tanks, so you’re doing them a favour over the long haul.

This very different depending on server, cause i have had zero issues gearing up any of my latest chars.

Your first mistake is going for the engi helmet, waste of both time and gold unless you want jeeves which is pointless on anything but your main really. I just lvl engi to 415 to use wormhole and stop there.

No point buying too expensive items to begin with, get the cheap stuff and do pvp to up your ilvl until you start getting invites to Beta dungeons.
Creating the Beta groups yourself are the best, just select the dungeons you want in lfg, yoink the first tank or healer that queue up and then inv dps.
This is even easier if you are tanking or healing yourself just inv 3 dps and sit in the queue until last role shows interest.

I geared my mage from fresh dinged to 5k GS in 2 weeks while having a fulltime job, wife and kids

Leveling was always the most fun part of Classic.

I don’t understand how people can raid on so many characters every week.

One is more than enough.

They must have a lot of free time in the evenings, or so I’d assume.

Personally I can literally spare one night of the week for any raiding, which is Saturday, as I work late into the evening on every other day.

My typical gaming play time takes place very early in the morning - generally around 5:00 am until around 8:00 am, and I get a bit longer on Saturday mornings and Sunday mornings, and that’s the extent of it.

There are two ways to gear a fresh character: spend money / gold or get a carry.

In my experience it’s a bit rough getting into HC++ groups when you’re at 4k GS, but it’s far from impossible and it takes a couple of days to get high enough GS to get into any group. Then you run normal ToC 10 /25 and you’ll easily get 5k+. So if you have 4k GS it really is no problem to progress.

The real issue is actually getting to about 4k without spending gold or getting a carry. Because as you said nobody runs normal heroics or older raids. That said I also leveled a paladin recently, spent 10k+ on gear until I got 3,7k GS and began doing HC++. Slow at first, but it didn’t take long to get going.

Clearly you didn’t even read my post and just replying for whatever

I’m not trying to join some TOGC or Ulduar mate, I’m just trying to do the content appropriate to my level but it seems Blizzard/Community have completely killed it with RMT.

So you log in for 30 minutes clear TOGC and that’s it? That does not sound like a fun way to play this game, An MMORPG.

Every raid tier so far took less than 2 hours to clear, TOGC takes 30 minutes, 45 minutes if you add the 15 minutes before the start for the raid to get together.

That’s 2 hours/week total to play on those 2 characters so no you don’t need

To play this game, Not everyone is enslaved at work and can barely squeeze a couple of hours of entertainment.

Nothing you say is going to appease this guy, he’s here for a moan

Yeah, I’m here to express my discontent with the state of the game.

Anyone can go 5k GS in 1 day played level 80 assuming you have some friends that carry you into beta dungeons to get everything you need.

In this game, it’s like real life. Either you work on your friendships to work together bigger, or you pay someone else.

If you are a solo player, it’s time to find a guild or a stable group now. ICC gonna break apart a lot of guilds due to how hard it is, so your best bet is to join something asap.

I’m currently leveling a DK, level 76. Gonna wait the 12 October to spam dungeons with the new tool to get easy gear. Then I will buy every Ulduar and TOGC loot I need with the new dungeons money that come 12 October. You do a single TOGC 25 then and you have your 4 set 245 ilvl T9. Easy 5k3 GS in 2/3 days.

First let’s clarify what do you mean by “content”? Going strait out of AH to ToGC10/ToC25? No, you can’t do that in none DKP. So your obvious goal would be catch up content of this phase first. That would be heroic beta dungeons and Ulduar 10, then ToC 10, then Ulduar 10HM. You gear is tottaly viable for Ulduar 10 runs that award 232 gear will bring you to 4,8 GS in 2-3 runs (with static group ofc) and from there you are good to go for medium 245 GS content of this phase. But obviously starting out 3 weeks before next phase ain’t getting you anywhere so you need catch up mechanics of phase 4 now that will be RDF and easy access to 232 in ICC 5ppl heroics and 245 gear in Heroic gammas.

Seems so. You try to help and give the advice he asks for and you’re met with snark and snotty putdowns.

Best just leave him to stew.

i been doing betas with 3.9k gs, some people ask for GS but some others dont even care since heroics are ezpz btw

Hard to get group as tank? Didnt even know that was possible.

I get the feeling you are ONLY aiming for content which is out of your reach and not whats appropriate for the gear you have.

Tbh this is the first time in my whole life that I heard that as a tank someone has a difficult time finding groups.

And true he might be trying to Speedrun as in rush the content to get to what he wants to do but he is missing a few steps before that.

Why I get burned out from wow is exactly the same reason I try to Speedrun be like the elite players but I’m a casual my progression is a lot slower then I try to rush it and lose the flavour of the game gets bitter.

If you have one weak dps there is no problem, but with a weak tank it can be. So some people might not take him. Maybe this is the reason. But this doesn’t seem weak for dung.

I form my group all the time and I didn’t check gear even once. It was sometimes raw with a very weak tank but we at least try it every time and at 99% we manage it. He was unlucky, I guess. Some group will take him for sure, like my.

I think we found the problem right there I do think he was super unlucky.
