If you had been around for the WOTLK you would have enjoyed it even more as the “classic” version was rushed and nothing like the purest version of it such a shame but you do you ![]()
I would have loved to but in 2008 I would have been 8-9 years old
so even if my parents would have let me played I probably would not have been able to enjoy it to the fullest anyways.
nobody wants to stand there hardcasting holylight for 9 minutes straight you are completely out of your mind
If you are going to make silly flippant comments about how holy pala worked in wotlk pls at least try better , because atm it looks like you have no clue at all how they did
![]()
Yup.
Was a real pain in pvp though. You wanted to be close for that awesome seals actions but it just gave your opponents interrupt and cc opportunities on a silver plater. Having something like Avenging Crusader and Word of Glory back then would probably have been quite awesome.
I fully support the idea for having a range and melee build, you could even have it all fit in the Holy talent tree where you go down one side or the other.
That would be cool.
Currently I play ret for melee healer since holy is what it is.
Ret works pretty good as a healer/support/dps tbh. Difficult part is convincing the group leader for an inv ^^
Gz u linked some vid from classic wotlk and nothing to do with my views and your silly comment about HoL just stop.
The thing is, they could easily split current Holy into 2 healing specs, one focused on melee, damage absorb and shielding, the other Holy as caster as it is on the Alpha PTR with no melee spells really.
And for the Melee healing, it is easy to make the damage low but make the healing good. Take Avenging Crusader for instance. It scales the healing done based on your damage * a specific % upscale.
So say on my character rn, Crusader strike does ca. 250k dmg. Avenging Crusader upscales that by 260% as distributed healing. That’s then:
250.000 * 2.6 = 650.000HP healed from Crusader strike alone.
Reduce the damage a bit, say 200.000, but change the upscaling to 340% for instance.
200.000 * 3.4 = 680.000HP healed from Crusader strike alone.
There are ways to make that melee healing work without expecting the healer to do good damage.
Indeed. That’s also not how I meant it.
Like, one part of the Holy Paladin playerbase wants casting-only gameplay. Another (including me) wants purely melee-based gameplay. And then another group is either fine with both or doesn’t care. And yet another wants to retain the hybrid we currently have on TWW S3.
Blizzard on the other hand seems unable to cater to more than 1 interest group with their changes. And that sucks for all but the 1 interest group.
The thing is, we could very much keep the current talent tree and just make Holy Shock / Crusader Strike as first spell in the spec talent tree a choice-node. And depending on the choice, the talents alter their behavior.
Healing Hands passive is so good for it, yeah. But the mana consumption is insane.
This so much. I really miss my whack’a’mole healer playstyle :’(
Actually, hero talents won’t solve that? I mean: Herald = ranged; Lightsmith = melee.
Like I said, just separate the playstyles into 2 different specs with own identity, but keep the access to the same hero talents.
And no, it doesn’t. Because Lightsmith adds no Melee button and neither a Holy Power generator.
Personally a split between the two would be welcome. Could the non-melee version get back Illuminated healing as mastery? I’d love to have that passive shield back on the healing for my paladin.
While in pve you can go in and throw seal of wisdom for mana you CANNOT risk to go in when you are doing pvp. Trust me.
You want to avoid all the CCs and interrupts in pvp.
They should make Holy into a ranged dd/buffer spec like Augmentation.
Also remove most ranged attacks from Retri
Not unless they separate the melee healer aspect into an own specilization.
No. Otherwise they are just a warrior with fancy spells.
Just roll ret. You’re not a dps, you’re a healer with the option to do a lil dmg and whatever you need from your toolkit at the moment, like every other healer in the game.
Oh, I will. Because Blizzard is keen on ruining what made Holy Paladin good since Shadowlands rework…
Have you ever played wrath? One seal and thats all. Now you do the same but from range.
Did you read my posts after that?
I did say it was JUST auto attacks, but you got a lot of mana back for doing it. I recall never having to worry about going oom at all on Hpala.
