I have to experience the reality of reaching lvl 60 in SoM. Feels so dull now, I wont raid in SoM because I am done with raids completely because of elitist requirements. I’l just watch WoW Classic streams atm. I plan to go back to TBC and afk. its been a good run in SoM. I might have to go back to retail as if I has much of a choice if I want fun.
Currently i’m leveling a druid with no bear or cat forms. I have a warrior who wears no mail or plate. I have a hunter who uses no pets whatsoever. I have a warlock with only imp pet.
Raids are so boring. You log on once or twice a week only to press one button. Who cares they are more difficult. You just need to gear up more before entering.
The leveling process, low lvl PVP and BGs are the best part of classic for me. I get bored at 60 too. Nowadays I don’t even bother with 60, I just level my characters to the end of a bracket I want to PVP in (e.g 39, 49, 59) and just pvp on them sometimes and level a new alt to do the same with.
Reaching 60 offers no advantage over that unless you like the 60 dungeons and raids. BGs are far worse at 60 as it just involves queuing into premades and you have to compete with all the no lifers with full BiS. Low lvl you can be casual and just focus on having fun.
for me the game is great at 60 provided the realm has a big population. Then going around winterspring, western & eastern plaguelands, blasted lands, blackrock areas, felwood, silithus and some more (ungoro, azshara…) you can meet players and wpvp and it’s all good there’s plenty to do (gather up wpvp consumables, make gold and buy/make better gear) (so long as naxx patch hasn’t hit, bringing in imbalanced gear). And I have a lot of fun on the way there right now I’m playing 5 chars build them up and wpvp while leveling starting at lvl20.
Of course it’s dull for PvE players, there are only two raids - Molten Snore and Onyxia. Unless you’re heavy into levelling alts or ranking, what is there really to do in SoM? Now a whole lot right now.
Erm… fun? Leveling multiple characters, enjoying low level dungeons, low level bgs, professions, random stuff. Not everybody needs a goal - or reaching 60 is enough for some.
Have been telling this for years. “Hardcoring” in WoW is what is killing the game (along with bad game decisions but that is already evident).
It’s fun for a group of people, but it is not sustainable for most people. Meta playing is destroying all games, if you don’t play the meta, nobody wants to play with you.
On another order of ideas, the requirements in classic were always absurd, especially when the content was easy.
It keeps amazing me how many seem to consider the game as “level to 60 as fast as possible and then you’re done”. A tip could be to reconsider what it’s all about could help.
I’m glad I enjoy doing various quest just for the fun of it, or running instances, or trying to improve in raids, or learning new classes, or chasing rare recipes or drops or elites. or just trying to do the perfect run of xyz.
Perhaps a more qualitative approach to the Warcraft world.
lately i have been finding that the more you give up on a “code of honor” in world pvp, the more fun it is. If for example you don’t attack green players, you are missing out not just on honor points but a lot of fun fights often involving multiple players. Now, I am thinking that even attacking grey players at times is better than ignoring them. This should create some disturbance in the area. gl hf lul
yeah i think doing away with code of honor is probably better because it is like better accepting what the game is and how it works. It brings more fun then, even though sometimes you will also get killed by skulls, which happens anyway. Just run from them and sometimes you’ll die to them and thats fine.
