i really dont like the free for all areas. i played wow since vanilla and played pvp servers, i play for The Horde VS The Alliance. but this new free for all areas you basically need to create a group or you gonna get ganged on by your own faction. i dont mind fighting 1v5 aslong as they are alliance. but i dont fight fellow horde players. this is my fantasy, i refuse to fight in-faction. Blizzard please give players like me an option to opt out of the in faction fighting. i only want to fight the opposing faction, not my neighbors
I don’t mind the FFA option overall, since you can choose not to attack your own faction if you want, and only fight back if attacked.
What is annoying to me is for those WPvP bosses (rock protodrake, blind protodrake, lightning protodrake and centaur) these are faction tagged, and you end up damaging people who are helping you kill the NPC. And if you melee them you get unintentionally (or maybe intentionally) AOEd by your own faction too.
I hate them too. wholeheartedly. such game design should not exist. it’s like they sat and brainstormed a topic like “how to make world pvpers life more miserable thant ever”
That’s the huge problem with stupid designed open world pvp objectives. Either make them not FFA pvp and faction based or make them really FFA so you can’t play in a group.
I whole heartedly agree. Like horde VS alliance is fun, and is immersive and how it should be… but OMG how annoying it is when I am killed by my own faction… like whats the point with horde and alliance then, if its just free for all… I mean make some free for all battlegrounds rather, instead of in the open world… it ruins the immersion, and fun… like how does it make sense that alliance or horde go around killing their own in middle of war and what not… its so stupid… could at least not have the world quest at same locations as the all vs all bull…
With all due respect, then just don’t go in that Area.
Most of us really enjoy this new FFA WPvP thingy. It is one of the best ideas Devs have had to counter faction imbalance and enable WPvP, it’s great!
Creating/Joining a group is no issue. If you don’t want to attack players from your own faction, (I guess you also don’t arena, right?) then just don’t play these zones/WQs.
But don’t ask to REMOVE stuff from the game, just because you don’t like it… Move on and let us have our thing.
this isn’t really a wpvp, just an isolated mindless ffa location without any risk
anyway, these ffas are an interesting experiment and maybe a step in the right direction as long as Blizzard understands that the game is still in urgent need of meaningful wpvp activity (this dead subforum speaks for itself)
Would you rather a dead open world with zero PvP as a result of faction imbalance?
bfa had superior world pvp thanks to mandatory borrowed power grind and other activities
The worst part of this failed design is when people suddenly turn from hostile to friendly because they left the zone in fight.
I concur with my fellow Paladin Priskah, and I think it is one of the best aspects of the game, FFA makes it more fun gaming, and also it is something different being able to kill horde, alliance and guild members at the same time. Often it is packed with gamers loving the Thunder Dome vibe, hundreds enter only one gamer (usually a team) leaves.
Not convinced yet? FFA is also great for completing achievements for example Tour of Duty.
Wow mechanics are bad FFA areas are basically get stunned till you die
I like the free for all, but I think they should enable friendly fire, and disable healing on party members. That would make groups useless mostly.
And they should have multiple auto ress points on all free for all areas
Well I would disagree I actually like these areas … but maybe that´s becasue of my class. happens a lot I am attacked by 3 and still get out alive … this is really the best fun in the world pvp. I would probably not enjoy it as much if my pvp skill would be bad and I have noone to back me up. I always go alone but that´s just how I was raised in a server where before themerge 90% of all players were horde so the few ally players me included doing any quest always being hunted and attacked by the end of the day if 2 horde attack me it´s like only 2?? I can just finish my quest and decide later … some guy saw me battle 3 hordies the other day and after the fight he just came to me and said: “you are something different” … I actually like observation a lot … if only he knew how many potions and embersilk nets were wasted in that 15min encounter …
I just love the chaos, awesome PvP areas. This is what was missing for me from Shadowlands. BfA had the assaults which were fun for WPvP, and they were slightly better I think, but these DF PvP areas are great fun.
My experience since DF launched in FFA zones is basically;
Horde grouping up, either killing Alliance or minding their own business killing NPC’s to complete quests.
At the same time Alliance chasing Alliance, doesn’t even let low item level or fresh characters do quests killing NPC’s but also run away when Horde attacks them.
Up to 5 players in a group should be fine tbh
What you propose is something I also thought about raids (6+ players).
Nope. That defeats the concept of what a “free for all” means.
Free for all should be free for all. Party environements already exist in the form of other pvp content, including open world pvp. The current “free for all” areas in dragonflight are not completly free for all, considering they allow partying up.
you should not be able to group up in these areas. Is so boring to always have to find a group everytime you go there. If you dont do that, you will get destroyed by groupies.
Agreed, should not be possible to group.
