Just logged for the first time in 6 months and apart from updates, i seem to need to pick either vanilla or tbc now.
Wanted to check my chars to see what i need to do before i need to pick, but i guess thats too late then?

there is nothing you can do before picking?
Nope…
If i want to log a char, i get a window that forces me to choose.
no i mean it does not matter, the character is already copied.
There is nothing you can do anyways.
Some extra information may be helpfull on what i did:
So i had to start Bnet loader, as all realms were incompatible.
It said it needed to update for tbc, which i allowed.
I then started game. It gave a tbc startscreen. All my chars needed to select which expansion. Also said that if i wanted to play vanilla, i had to dl that game (which i had obviously). Left game.
Went to Bnetloader again and installed vanilla, which came in a separate map. I pulled the shortcut from there and started that game.
It gave the classic loading screen, but on char select, all chars are set to a mandatory choice again. So basically the same problem
it’s not a problem? just pick one?
So i cant go back to vanilla, without making that permanent choice (per char) ?
Well i wanted for a moment to see where i left my chars. What items they have. What their gear is like. Etc
Ive played all classes (except shaman) at top lvl in vanilla, but not all are same ‘level’ gear.
Ah well, as usual you have to start over anyway with a new expansion, so its no biggie. Was just wondering why and if i have to choose before launchdate.
Thx for help m8 ;]
it’s not a permanent choice. If you choose to stay classic with ‘Sarathustra’ i would cost you $15 to unlock an identical clone on tbc.
Sara is a retail char.
But err, yes i read that. Was just thinking about doing that with one char and see how things are in tbc and how it will be in vanilla. Looking at what people are saying on forum, im afraid most will go on to tbc. Then it will be pretty empty on vanilla. And if its too empty to even ever do a raid or dg (or bg), then its little use to leave chars there.
But heck, i can pay the 15 (Is going to hurt though!) with one char and check it out.
Thx m8 ;]
You can also create a new character just to check, if you have an empty slot.
all full ;]
thx!
You can’t have all the characters at 60, try one of your lower level characters.
Since you don’t say what realm it is I can’t look at the population on Classic-era for you.
Most have gone to TBC, I’m on a busy realm and most Classic-era cities are almost empty, even during busy times of day. Thought they are supposed to be connecting a lot of them.
Hey Dottie, ltns ;]
You dont know how much i played ;p
I have almost full 60’s and they are all raid geared
Have 1 lvl ~35 mage, who’s spot was actually reserved for expansions at a time i didnt know yet what was going to happen wrt expansions. That one was actually a sort of ‘banker’ and extra storage bc my main on horde (priest) was alone there. The rest are all ally.
Mirage raceway
Herrin (priest), Lupine (druid), Novatov (hunter), Xieniks (lock), Healea (pala), Hypia (mage), Basta (rogue), Diesel (warrior), Uhu (horde priest) and the low lvl mage Getuppa.
But i made a copy of Uhu, so checked both sides out. There was hardly anyone in Org vanilla, but that was early this morning. More crowded in the TBC version.
Dont think im going to copy all of them, but will see.
I read they were doing realm connects yes. Probably a necessary thing as it is basically a split of the amount of players in 2. It is what it is…
Thx!
They may be on one of the classic raiding data sites that someone has uploaded their data to.
