I’m a returning player after a few years away from the game. I received an email offer from Blizzard, 7 days free game time if claimed by 29th May, & so here I am.
Initially I liked the idea of giving TBC classic a shot… But it seems TBC is dead & a ghost town at the moment. So I decided to pick up my Druid (this character) which I created at the beginning of 2020, when Classic WoW was still fairly new.
I’ve done many dungeons upon my return… 2x Deadmines, 4x Shadowfang Keep, 3x Blackfathom Deeps, 2x Stockades & now 1x Gnomeregan.
At the end of the Gnomeregan run I stayed in the dungeon to try & get the last few parts for a quest. I died, got caught out by respawns. The rest of the group was fine, some had already left the instance I believe.
Anyhow the healer of the group whispered me, really sad to see me die saying how I would need to delete my character. I explained its no problem as I’m not playing hardcore… They asked if I was joking?! & then got mad saying how I had just messed up the whole groups hardcore challenge…
I had seen hardcore groups being advertised but I just thought it meant no deaths, my only experience with hardcore characters is with Diablo, you get one life & that’s it. I had absolutely no idea that there were a ton of other self imposed rules that come with… No trading, no grouping out side of dungeons, only clearing a dungeon once, no playing with none hardcore characters…
Learning this I’ve now realised that I have messed up 40+ other peoples hardcore challenges in the last week, what with all the dungeons I have completed. Again, I had no idea, I though HC = 1 life… Also a good chunck of the dungeons I cleared I got invited through random whispers just asking me to tank a dungeon, not even specifying a hardcore requirement.
Anyhow, I feel really bad about my ignorance of the hardcore challenge. The healer saying how they had put several days playtime into their character & now they gotta restart from scratch.
Sorry to all those that have grouped with me.
