I Have Unknowingly Ruined Many Players Hardcore Challenge - Sorry!

I’m a returning player after a few years away from the game. I received an email offer from Blizzard, 7 days free game time if claimed by 29th May, & so here I am.

Initially I liked the idea of giving TBC classic a shot… But it seems TBC is dead & a ghost town at the moment. So I decided to pick up my Druid (this character) which I created at the beginning of 2020, when Classic WoW was still fairly new.

I’ve done many dungeons upon my return… 2x Deadmines, 4x Shadowfang Keep, 3x Blackfathom Deeps, 2x Stockades & now 1x Gnomeregan.

At the end of the Gnomeregan run I stayed in the dungeon to try & get the last few parts for a quest. I died, got caught out by respawns. The rest of the group was fine, some had already left the instance I believe.

Anyhow the healer of the group whispered me, really sad to see me die saying how I would need to delete my character. I explained its no problem as I’m not playing hardcore… They asked if I was joking?! & then got mad saying how I had just messed up the whole groups hardcore challenge…

I had seen hardcore groups being advertised but I just thought it meant no deaths, my only experience with hardcore characters is with Diablo, you get one life & that’s it. I had absolutely no idea that there were a ton of other self imposed rules that come with… No trading, no grouping out side of dungeons, only clearing a dungeon once, no playing with none hardcore characters…

Learning this I’ve now realised that I have messed up 40+ other peoples hardcore challenges in the last week, what with all the dungeons I have completed. Again, I had no idea, I though HC = 1 life… Also a good chunck of the dungeons I cleared I got invited through random whispers just asking me to tank a dungeon, not even specifying a hardcore requirement.

Anyhow, I feel really bad about my ignorance of the hardcore challenge. The healer saying how they had put several days playtime into their character & now they gotta restart from scratch. :frowning:

Sorry to all those that have grouped with me.

Edit: Typos

You shouldn’t worry, that’s not on you. People assume you are playing hardcore, that’s their fault.

Its upto them to check your verification, they can easily see that by inspecting you. Not your fault at all.

But why do they have to start from scratch if it’s you who have died?

Because in HC you’re not allowed to group up with non HC players for dungeons.
It’s pretty obvious why if you think about it for a minute.
The fact that he died is irrelevant.

I wasn’t aware of that specific rule. Dedicated hardcore realms will solve this problem.

There is no challenge, people press alt f4 before they die and res with deactivated addon so they can continue their clout in a video game.

It’s the usual vanilla pixel flexing coupled with a makeshift pretend game.

Another reason to wait for official hardcore.

No, I really do not see why. If the non HC player knows the game, are rigth level bracket, and know HC, it should not be problem.
Please tell why. HC are allowed consumables, potions, buffs, ect, so I do really not see problem here.
PS. When I play no-death, I do IronMan, allows no Dungeons, so I do not know much of HC rulles. Many - if not most, I do understnd, but this one, no.

Except we don’t know what rules will be on the realm, all we know so far is permadeath is the only rule.

Will probably still make non-HC players not go there and solve this one problem.

I don’t do HC but my guess would be, if a non-HC group member is allowed, it could theoretically be a twink, equipped by a level 60 main to power levels unattainable by HC characters in that bracket, and thus carry the whole group, making gameplay trivial.

The HC characters would benefit from a bonus of non-HC origin, if you want. Same reason why auction house is not allowed.

Except this is irrelevant to the fact that this issue right here won’t happen on official HC since every person on the realm will be HC by default.

Absolut chad! You should be mad about hardcore players messing up your game ! Not the other way around. Its an rppve realm. Not an official hardcore realm, let these neckbeards keep crying. Good work mate !

It’s grief protection for the HC players. Imagine a non HC player doing a run with 4 HC, he causes a wipe for the lolz at no cost for him but all 4 HC need to delete and start over.

I get this one, and is why I wrote: “Know HC”.
This tells me taking non-HC is risky, stupid, but forbidden … people can still think.

yeah specially since it just takes 2 clicks to see if a player is HC or not.

That’s crazy, imagine doing this at level 59 almost 60. GZ
