I haven't played rogue since cataclysm and I am absolutely speechless

What did they do to this class? I expected a lot but not that they removed 70% of the abilities.

I’m at loss for words. I wanted to play rogue in Shadowlands but I guess it’s not going to happen.

Ah, the sweet innocence of someone who did not play WoD - BFA.

Joke aside, Rogue is actually looking really good in SL. At least the common opinion from Rogues right now is positive.

I think every class experinced that… I came back to my druid, shaman and warlock to experince them a bit … …

It’s a journey to relearn them and find a new class you’ll end up liking :expressionless:

aggree with this 100% I played rogue as my main from vanilla till cata…I went back onto that character recently and it was just…rubbish, not fun to play at all, what the hell is this outlaw spec…what was wrong with combat? why the hell would a rogue even use a pistol? its just pants.

yeah rpogue is in a really bad state for a wile now. I do keep my rogue alt max lvl, but i cant say i have played it seriously in a long time. Especially since the horrible outlaw rng changes

It was legion that did the damage, rogue was fine up until WoD…

so what was the justifcation for getting rid of combat to be replaced with outlaw? thats a pretty major change, cant think of any other classes in fact that have had a spec renamed/reimagined that much.

yeah its yet another reason why legion was the worst expansion ever for me. It killed off the rogue i liked

id been a combat rogue since vanilla…my first character and my main up to cata…or though nothing will match the days when you could mix and match builds (my combat/hemo spec was amazing) i still enjoyed playing combat…I tried to play outlaw for a few days and I just hated it, why the hell did they get rid of combat?

if you think rogues have had a bad time, you’re in for a treat when you see the hybrid classes

idk, boomkins for one seem to be in a good place. I don’t know about monks and paladins tho

I guess they quite literally banned combat rogues, it’s illegal now. Now they are outlaws

I can understand the appeal of an Outlaw type rogue for someone who wants a pirate-y kinda character like Jack Sparrow who can duel with a sword, draw a pistol and fight dirty and all.

I do not think that they should have taken combat away at all, it was a bad move.

I prefer the fantasy of a subtlety rogue: someone who just emerges from the shadows to execute a target and then vanishes again. Sadly the spec doesn’t quite play that way :frowning:

Had the same experience. When I first played BFA on launch, I unsubbed after half a month because of many reasons, but the class design was probably the biggest one. And it’s not just Rogue they’ve done this to.

Unfortunately, I don’t think you’ll find solace in playing other classes/specs. Back in the day of TBC-Cata I honestly couldn’t find a spec I wouldn’t enjoy and I had a difficult time choosing a main because I wanted to play everything. And now, in BFA, I have the exact opposite problem where I don’t have a main because I can’t find a spec I would enjoy.

It’s not as bad in PvE where you only have to tolerate your spec’s terrible class design but PvP, where terrible class designs meet and clash, is just painful.

I still remain hopeful things will improve in the future, but I don’t think class design will ever be anywhere as good as it was during the golden era.

I still remember blind been taken away. I had alt modifier macros for all my spells, was so used to fighting two enemies at a time, then all of a sudden… all gone… Legion i think… Played a bit, pve since pvp was destroyed, only to realize i was basically using 3-4 spells. Only took a few days to get bored.

Things are better now, since a few spells have come back, but there’s still a big gap with how the class used to be in earlier expansions…

its a real shame as id like to play my rogue again, I have a lot of cool stuff on it from wayyyyy back, but combat was the only spec I ever really played

You’ll miss out then because rogue heading into SL looks good. And the other specs (sub especially) are finally getting some light alongside Outlaw. SL looks like a great time to be playing a rogue.

With Combat i can understand people missing it. The playstyle. The name never worked for me, it was vague as heck. A “combat rogue” what is that? Do theother rogues not engage in combat or something? Oh wait, they do, so what makes a combat rogue special?

The name could have been better picked if they wanted to emphasis a rogueish character who trains to stand toe to toe with others without relying on shady tricks or poison wepaons, like Ruffian, Brigand, Martial, Mercenary etc. Combat is like calling a warrior spec “Fighting”, which is…kind of a no brainer? Then again Arms is pretty oddly named (as if the other two don’t use arms?)

Long story short: several of wow spec names are really wierdly picked.

ive tried outlaw, it just didnt feel the same so i doubt ill be missing out…will be sticking with this lock main I guess as its been since cata

They said Rogue as sub now good in SL.
You can wait pre-patch come maybe 1-2weeks later and test it.
