I’m so sick of this inspect @ adal / inspect aldor bs. Praise gearscore!
I don’t care, I’m in a good guild, no bs at all… praise buddies to play with
People do know now that gearscore is flawed beyond belief. People know that others will put on items that make them worse to just boost their gearscore so why use something flawed like that when you can just look at what someone actually have?
You can bet your last buck I will require a raid-geared-level gear score from any dps or healer who joins my dungeon group. If I am to spam for a tank for 30min+, I sure ain’t doing it for the benefit of some 187 ilvl alt. If you say so much as “hi” in my group I’ll tell you to shut up. I’ll make people cry out for RDF so hard the reddit and twitter will shake wih the echoes. I am done with the begging and explaining. You want your wrath without convenience? You will damn well get it.
It’s interesting how the people asking for RDF seems to be one of two categories.
People that don’t have time to play an mmorpg from 2008 and toxic people ^
5k gs to get invited to heroics and then i guess people will start understanding why rdf is necessary
You have no idea of the levels of pent up toxicity that forming, leading and holding together literal hundreds of fully random pug dungeons over the course of TBC can cause you. I was looking forward to RDF like a mana from heaven, I was sure it will be in at a start, just like all the other 3.3.5 ui features. Reading the news it is to be completely removed felt like literal gut punch. I am beyond caring now, I will spread my misery to as many as I can. I will level purely in wrath dungeon pugs, and they will be harsh! No swp gear? Well GL HF. I will single handedly breed an RDF culture without RDF. I’m a man with nothing to lose and an axe to grind. Reading all these RDF threads over past months just made me slowly spiral into despair. Oh I’ll run dungeons, I will run dungeons like you wouldnt believe. Silent, toxic, antisocial dungeons that make your talkative little heart shrivel in horror.
Any good raid-leader will still inspect in Dalaran. There are lots of items ilvl200 that are literally worse than SWP drops from level 70. GS also doesn’t account for hit/expertise caps, set bonuses, proper stat priorities or even if you have the correct items for your role (example physical dps ring on a caster).
Why would you wanna blind invite someone who has potentially just thrown any old random crap on to boost ilvl? FWIW I will be actively declining people who /w me their gearscore, I can just find someone else. Gearscore exists for TBC btw, nobody used it because it’s not hard to inspect someone.
Until you reliese u are but a singular person that people will ignore, not even as a tank are you going to be big enough to breed a RDF culture.
You would need a army to pull such a feat of, and not a army on ur server, but quite litterally among every server and would need enough players to ensure ur new rules were applied to atleast half the groups to exist.
The beauty of no RDF means that u are far more blockable, and far more confined in what u can do meaning its far easier to push you out compared you trying aingle handerly.
Only RDF culture u will bring yourself is the feeling of a dps queue at 5am for a dungeon no one does.
In dragonflight live is shaping up to be basically a WoTLK with RDF. So do whatever sane person would do and just play that.
WoW has a unique opportunity to create WoW classic as if none of the controversal changes happened while also havjng the other side with said changes. And i think blizzard should embrace it.
What will cata feel like without raid finder.
What would post legion feel like without the pruning
What would BFA feel like without the borrowed powers.
The list could go on really.
Why though? At no point ever have Blizzard said yes to RDF but they have specifically said no to it more than once and it wasn’t even part of Wotlk until ICC to begin with.
If the community thought gear score was necessary they would have implemented it by now. Under the engine hood every item has a item level curtesy of the Legion engine, so we can calculate the average item level people have with addons.
It would be a step backwards to go back to use gearscore when item level is a much more visually representative metric… If we ignore stat soft caps and hard caps.
I feel some play classic because of some of the decisions made in modern WoW, not because they selectively love old WoW.
I.e Borrowed power, the pruning of class abilities, the GCD changes.
Which means among the playerbase you have people waiting on these QoL changes made, but in the time prior these changes and design directions existed.
So now theyre not happening, their choice is keep playing without the things such as RDF that they want or play live, and stick out shadowlands systems to have them.
Or the one thing that a lot of them have said that they will do, they can go to p servers.
Ive seen some of these private servers and their never really of the same popularity or greatness of blizzards in all honesty. Except maybe nef before blizzard had them dismantled.
They were more the compromise players made due to no offical access to classic.
There is absolutely no technical reason why gearscore couldn’t exist in TBC. It simply became widespread during WotLk. People don’t use it, because it is a dull and flawed system, that can be easily exploited.
So you speak in favour of an obsolete system from 14 years ago, simply due to the fact, that it was used back then. Not trying to be mean, but that sounds rather silly to me.
I have also seen them, and im more than agreeing with you (although Kronos was also great in the beginning) I just wanted to add in that the people who are so stuck on “needing” the RDF have a third option on where they can play, they can stick with classic without RDF, they can go to retail and have to put up with all of it or they could go to the servers a fair few of them are already saying they will go to so they can have their RDF.
Imho the people inbetween likely should just wait dragonflight without the limitless grinds the borrowed power and restoring talent trees. Its going to be alike wotlk gameplay, (without obviously the lich king)
Wait until it launchs before considering seriously. Imcase blizz does a 180 on the decisions, but itd offer em rdf and those qols they seem to want
Gearscore will change nothing in my life, because GS or not, i will get inspected.
Most raid leaders are checking WClogs and doubt that will change in Wotlk. Gearscore is not going to make any difference.
GS will come whether you want it or not. P1 raids are so easy that you can be a gray/green parser group and still clear say Naxx within a couple hours if you just ask for 4k+ GS.
Why ask for skill and spend time checking logs when you can ask for an absurdly high amount of GS compared to the gear drops?
